350 Being Friends
Where did it all go wrong? Marcel could swear he didnât do anything wrong. He let her get off and she enjoyed it judging from the afterglow on her face, however, in the next minute, she had a look of terror on her face. And the next, she was screaming and pushed him off her.
âArianna?!â Marcel was concerned about her and tried to go over to her but she stretched her hand and shouted,
âStop. Donât come any closer.â
Marcel didnât listen. No, he didnât want to listen. He took another step.
Arianna added, âPlease?â
Marcel finally stopped and she was finally able to breathe. Arianna never wanted to freak out like this, no, she never thought the nightmare would interfere with her normal life. What does it want her to do? Arianna leaned against the wall, her eyes shut in thought.
âWhat is the problem? Did I trigger something sensitive to you?â Marcel suspected.
He knew reactions like that and even had soldiers living with post-traumatic stress disorder. Marcel also gets that way sometimes, especially during sleep.
Arianna opened her eyes, she nearly forgot Marcel was still there. Now, he was going to pry into her issue.
.....
âItâs nothing,â She told him, pushing off the wall. It was her business to deal with the nightmares concerning her cheating on her boyfriend.
âDonât push me into getting the truth from your lying mouth my own way,â He warned her and she knew he was not joking. Marcel means every word.
âFine, you want to know,â She walked over to him, her expression serious as she pointed to her chest, âI am being plunged with guilt over cheating on my boyfriend!â
She said it all out hoping that would change things between them. You know, set things straight and he recognizes that this thing between them just canât work.
But instead, Marcel said, âYou donât love him,â
âWhat?â Arianna went pale, blood draining from his face.
âTell me that Iâm wrong, do you love him?â Marcel boldly asked, towering over her.
âOf course, I love him!â Arianna felt the question was really unnecessary and stupid. Why would he be asking her that when it was so obvious.
âif thatâs the case, then Iâm sorry, baby, you wouldnât be fucking me,â Marcel told her the plain truth and she went red in the face.
Arianna tried to speak, to refute this claim, but she was too overwhelmed to think straight. She wouldnât be doing all of this if she didnât love Elijah. The both of them made an agreement and she decided to love him with all of her heart. The sex part with Marcel was because she was lonely and he seduced her.
Moreover, when you stayed too much with a male, it was easy to catch feelings for him. Marcel was a very attractive man and she was a jobless young lady with raging hormones â a virgin who had just begun to explore her sexuality.
But that doesnât mean she didnât have Elijah in her heart, because, at the end of the day, he was going to be the one she spends the rest of her life with. How would Mimi put it? Marcel was a good fuck while Elijah was the man of her dreams.
âThere are still people who cheat on the one they love. Iâve seen women do that, men, especially.â Arianna argued with him. No, she refused to let Marcel confuse her. She went on, âAlso, what do you know about love when you havenât even experienced one?!â
There was a tense silence after Arianna said those words and she knew she just touched a sensitive spot for him. But then, he was the first to begin it.
âI might not know about love but Iâve seen one,â Marcel said with emotion, âMy mother wasted her life away for love. She didnât fuck other men even when my father was being an asshole to her. So yeah, I know love when I see one,â
Arianna gulped, unable to argue this one with him. She doesnât know much about Marcelâs mother but no other woman would stay in that toxic relationship if not for love â and fear. Even when Marcelâs father offered the woman to leave, she stayed back because of Marcel. But that wasnât all, she probably stayed behind because she still loved her husband.
But then, Marcel was right in one thing, they shouldnât have begun this in the first place. The both of them were not meant to be. She was a victim and he was a prey.
âYou won,â
âArianna -â
âI donât love you either,â
Marcel gulped.
âYou must probably think of me as some whore,â Arianna reasoned and that didnât sit well with him.
âRubbish! Iâve never thought of you as such,â He came closer, intending to explain it to her better but Arianna stepped back, misunderstanding his action.
Marcel stopped immediately, âI like you.â
Her eyes widened.
âI fucking like you.â
Arianna stared at him dumbfounded at what she was hearing. But then, she remembered, âYou have a fiancée, Marcel -â
âSpare me the bullshit, Arianna! You and I know that I feel nothing for her. Else, why are we working hard to make this mission work?â He asked her.
Arianna rubbed her forehead overwhelmed. She knew that Marcel liked her in the first place but for him to confess that he liked her that deeply already was a shocker.
âNo, I canât,â
âWhat?â
âI canât do this,â She ran her hand through her hair, âLove triangle is not my thing. You just told me that in feeling infatuation for Elijah, and then all of a sudden, youâre confessing you like me after a few hanky panky between us? God, I canât do this. Itâs hard and confusing as it is already. I canât love two men! â
âThen donât,â Marcel told her upon seeing how distressed she was already. His plan was not to confess to her now, but he had panicked when he sensed her withdrawing from him. His plan was never to pressure her, but that seems to be the case now.
âYou made your choice, Elijah, right? I would respect your decision because thatâs the right thing. I guess weâd just be friends then,â He told her.
Arianna nodded, âYes, I think friends would be better,â she thought so.
âIn that case, have a nice day,â Marcel saluted her and was out of her room as quick as his legs could take him.
