153 I Pity The Man That Marries You
There was no word spoken as Charlie and Mimi stared at each other, observing their stance like opponents on a battlefield waiting for who would make the first move.
âI should have known,â Charlie sighed, breaking the silence, âThere was something weird about you and I was a fool not to have noticed it,â
âYes, you were quite the fool,â Mimi affirmed, quite proud of herself. She successfully kidnapped a gangster â yeah! Her parents would be so proud of her.
He leaned exhaustively against the seat knowing he was defeated, âSo tell me who sent you?â
âHuh?â Mimi was surprised by the question.
âWas it Hank? I know I owe the old bastard some money but seriously sending someone to take me out, and a woman of all things? Itâs pretty low of him. Donât you think so?â he asked her.
Mimi frowned, does he consider a low being? She said with her lips drawn into a tight line, âNo, I donât think so and no one sent me, Iâm all on my own,â
âWait a minute,â Charlieâs brows knitted together, finding it hard to believe her until understanding dawned on him, âYouâre on a solo mission or not....â His smile grew â a lascivious one, âI didnât know you were into this, baby girl?â
His grin grew as he opened his legs enough to make a statement, âSo what are you going to do about this?â He pointed at his member that was beginning to form a tent in his pants.
.....
âWhat?â Mimi was confused, until it hit that he thought they were into some kinky role play. She cringed, then strode over to him to land a punch on his face, screaming, âNothing! So get your mind off the gutter!â
She then slightly winced, that punch hurt like hell. Nobody told her interrogations were this difficult â the movies made it look so easy.
âOuch,â Charlie said, his head snapping to the side from the impact. However, he turned it to her saying with deep observation, âYou strike quite well, however, your skills are rustic which could only mean that youâve been out of the game for a while or this is your first time,â He smirked, âIâll choose the latter. Do you even know what youâre doing?â
âWell, I donât and that makes me more lethal. Donât you think so?â Mimi smirked devilishly, picking the gun she stole, no, took from him.
Charlieâs jaw flexed, he was beginning to understand a tad bit the situation he was in.
âWhat do you want?â He almost hissed out.
Mimiâs eyes brightened as if they were finally talking business, âInformation on a girl named Arianna,â
âThere are many Ariannaâs out there,â was his excuse.
âOh, you would know this one... â Mimi smiled coldly, âConsidering her uncle owned your gang debt and you guys decided the best way to get payment was to buy her. Like literally bought her!â Remembering that pissed her off.
âI still donât....â He frowned as the dots connected in his head, âYou mean Boss wife?â
âW-what?â Mimiâs face fell, âWhat do you mean by Boss wife?â
Charlie snorted as if he was enjoying this show knowing she strives for the information and he was the one holding the book of knowledge here.
âSimple as short, if that woman is truly your friend, then congratulations, youâre invited to a wedding party this weekend. Sorry though, I donât have the invitation with me,â He poked fun at her misery.
âThis is not funny!â Mimi yelled in anguish, hitting him on the face with the butt of her gun. How dare he catch fun with Ariannaâs future? It was sickening.
âDamn it, woman,â Charlie groaned, wincing in pain at the sudden bump that appeared at the corner of his eyes, âYou are so violent. I pity for the man that marries you in the future,â
âWell, Iâm more than thankful that that man wonât be you,â Mimi said sternly before she commanded him, âYou would help me make communications with my friend,â
And Charlie laughably looked at her, âAnd why would I do that?â
She hit him once again.
He groaned.
âBecause just as you said, my skill is rusty and my hands are quite unstable,â Mimi hinted at killing him and calling it a mistake.
This time, Charlieâs eyes flashed and his jaw tightened until he felt the muscles tick. He was running out of patience.
âFine, Iâll help you,â He conceded easily to Mimiâs surprise.
âReally?â Mimi still looked him over in suspicion.
âIsnât that what you want and the key for my freedom?â He snarled at her.
âWell, youâre right,â Mimi finally saw sense in his words, however, some things didnât add up, so she asked, âAnd how exactly am I going to speak to my friend?â she suddenly had a bad feeling about this.
âPhones of course, unless youâre asking for death by coming into our territory,â Said Charlie gleefully.
âNo, no way,â Mimiâs stance became rigid and she lifted the gun at him, âYou think Iâm a fool? Youâre going to call your fellow members on me,â
âYou would be the one holding the phone, why would I do that when you have a gun to my head?â he claimed.
âNot if you speak in some code or something?â Mimi said, having watched enough spy movies to know they always had a secret code or something for when theyâre in trouble.
Charlie sighed exhaustedly, âListen here, youâre the one with the power,â He made a shame of struggling to show he was powerless, âYou end the call when you feel somethingâs off. But then, Iâm not the one desperate to hear from a friend,â He was enjoying this.
âFine,â Mimi gave in, gritting her teeth, âWhereâs the phone?â
Charlie shrugged with pulsed lips, âIâm not the one who emptied my pocket,â she took everything on him.
Mimi sighed and then turned as her gaze searched for the bag where she had dumped her equipment and the rest of his properties that she hadnât felt useful, as of then.
She found it at the corner.
Unknown to Mimi as she squatted down to go through the contents of the bag and find the phone she had dumped carelessly, she didnât know that this was all a distraction. Charlie had found a way to undo the knot she poorly tied him and was on his feet in no time.
He picked and stretched the rope in his hand with malicious intent, slithering over to her like a lithe cat without making a single noise so she didnât notice him. And it was the moment he came up behind her that Mimi finally sensed him and turned with eyes wide in shock.
Charlie smiled sadistically and was about to gird her throat with the rope to choke her to death when a shot rang out and he didnât feel death until he was dead.
âShe was too slow,â was the thought in Mimiâs head as she found herself unable to react in time. She just stood still like a moron with her eyes closed waiting for her end until she heard a loud bang and liquid splashed across her face.
At first, Mimi thought her gun went off accidentally but it was lying idle on the floor. Then her eyes opened just as Charlieâs body fell to her surprise, only to reveal Victor standing behind him in his crazy glory, a gun in his hand still emitting smoke that he blew away dramatically.
Oh boy.
His gaze then rested on her, his gray curious eyes taking her appearance in and he whistled low in his throat,
âDamn, love, you look good,â
Was he kidding her?
