"Why are you here?" he asked.
Yvonne followed him to the desk and answered, "Iâm worried, so I came over to check on you."
"Worried?â Henry sat down in his chair. "What are you worried about? Me or the company?"
Hearing this, Yvonne looked away awkwardly. "Both, but I'd like to know how you plan to solve
this?"
"It doesnât seem to have anything to do with you.â Henry looked at her.
Yvonne pursed her lower lip, "What do you mean it doesn't matter? Iâm also the..."
"That's enough. Iâll handle this myself and you don't need to worry about it. You should head back."
Henry chased her out.
Yvonne was dumbfounded. "But Iâm not done speaking.â
"We'll talk about it later. Iâll be going to the Land Administration Office after this. I donât have much
time to accompany you," Henry said while pulling the USB drive from his computer.
Seeing this, Yvonne sighed helplessly and prepared to leave.
But the moment she turned around, Henry stopped her again. "Last night, you..."
"Huh?" Yvonne looked at him.
Henry lowered his eyes. "Did you come back last night?"
Yvonne said, "You were drunk last night. Sue asked m e to come back and change your clothes."
Henry tightened the USB drive in his hand, and his voice became much deeper. "Then why did you
leave? I s Elliot's apartment more attractive than your own home?"
Yvonne frowned. "How can you say that?"
"Am I wrong? Don't you prefer Elliotâs apartment better?â Henry stood up, staring at her with his
dark eyes.
She couldn't see his emotions through his eyes. Instead, he was calm which made her feel uneasy.
She clenched her fists and forced herself not to think s o much. She calmly replied, "I donât prefer
anyone's apartment. I think the reason why I don't go back to the villa is obvious. Sue can see it,
and Elliot can see i 1.1 don't believe you canât. But you're doing nothing!"
Henryâs pupils trembled for a moment and he didn't answer.
Yvonne looked at the ceiling. After calming herself for a while, she said, "Since we're talking about
this, I will not hide anything anymore. I just wanted you to apologize when I moved out. I don't think
that Iâm very demanding, but you pretended to not understand anything. Do you think I'd feel good
about this?"
She pointed at her heart and didn't wait for Henryâs answer. She went on and said, "No, it's not good
at all. I even doubted many times whether you, Henry Lancaster, are worthy of my love. Because in
your heart, your dignity, your self-esteem, and your ego are more important than me!"
"There's no such thing!" Henry retorted in a deep voice.
Yvonne laughed at herself, "Tell me then. What's going on? If Iâm wrong, why can't you apologize?"
Henry lowered his eyes. "I will apologize, but not now!"
"Not now?" Yvonne was stunned for a moment. Then, she was angry. "Why not now? It's just an
apology. As long as you say it, I might forgive you and it will only take a few seconds, which will not
waste your time. So why do you need to..."
"I have my plan!" Henry interrupted her.
Yvonne choked, "Whatâs your plan?"
"You'll find out later." Henry pinched the area between his eyebrows.
Yvonne laughed angrily, "Later. It's always later. To you, there's only the future and no present? Why
don't you ask me if I'm willing to accept what you called the future? You've always been this way,
acting so arbitrarily. You always make your own decisions and never ask about other peoples'
opinions. Ask yourself
She pointed at the man's chest. "Is that fair to me? I always think of you in everything, but how
about you? Have you ever thought about it? I've decided not to see you before you apologize to me.
But as soon as I heard that you were drunk, I came back to take care of you. I f it was you, would
you do the same?"
She was always so soft-hearted to him.
But what about him? What had he done for her?
"Calm down!" Henry reached out and held Yvonneâs fingers on his chest. "I'm doing this for you!"
"For me?â Yvonne sneered, then pulled her finger back and took two steps back. "I donât want you
to be good for me. It's just what you think is good for me, but it's not what I want. All I want is for us
to be honest with each other and be better together, but you obviously don't get it."
After that, she looked at him disappointedly and left.
Ding!
The elevator arrived.
Yvonne buried her head and walked towards the elevator. Then, she bumped into the person who
was coming out of the elevator.
The man groaned and she staggered two steps. She then held on to the elevator door to stabilize
herself. Otherwise, she would fall down and make a fool of herself.
"Are you alright?" After keeping her balance, Yvonne hurriedly asked the man who was hit by her as
she wanted to know if he was hurt.
The man held onto the elevator door too. When he heard her concern, he rubbed his chin for a
moment. Then, he raised his head and looked at her in surprise. "Yvonne?"
"Shane?â Yvonne opened her mouth surprisingly. She didn't expect to see him here.
Shane put his hand down from his chin and asked with a smile, "Why are you here?"
"Something happened to the land that he bought, so I came to have a look.â Yvonne pointed to the
CEOâs office. "How about you? You're here for...â
"I'm here for that matter as well. I'd like to see if Henry needs any help," Shane replied.
Yvonne nodded suddenly. "I see. Then you should go see him. I'll make a move first."
"Wait a minute." Shane pulled her arm.
Yvonne looked up at him. "What's the matter?"
"I feel like you didn't seem happy when you mentioned Henry. Did you guys fight?â Shane asked
concerningly.
Yvonne smiled bitterly, "No. We talked earlier and it made me very upset.â
"What was it about?"
"It's nothing. Let's not talk about it. He'll be going to the Land Administration Office later. You'd better
go t o him now or he won't have time for a while." Yvonne withdrew her arm.
Seeing that she didn't want to talk about it, Shane didn't pursue it further. He put his hand that just
grabbed Yvonne's arm back in his white coat. "Well, that's okay. I'll go to find him first, but you
should come to the hospital tomorrow."
"Why?" Yvonne's eyes showed a bit of confusion.
Shane chuckled, "It's time for a checkup."
"Oh, I forgot." Yvonne patted her forehead, then remembered it was indeed time for a body
checkup.
Shane pushed his glasses. "Give me a call before you come tomorrow. I'll make time for you."
"Alright, I got it. I'll leave first." Yvonne waved and walked into the elevator.
Shane watched her until the elevator door was shut before he went to Henry's office.
After leaving the Lancaster Group, Yvonne didnât go back to the apartment directly. Instead, she
went to a real estate agency, rented a bachelor suite, and
planned to move out soon.
Once it was settled, she returned to Elliot's apartment. As soon as she opened the door, she saw a
pair of menâs leather shoes at the entrance. Not only that, but she heard a voice come from the
living room.
Yvonne stepped into the living room subconsciously and she saw Elliot standing on the balcony with
his back toward her. He was talking on the mobile phone
She did not have the hobby of eavesdropping on other people's conversations. She planned to
avoid this by getting a glass of water in the kitchen.
But as soon as she reached the kitchen, she heard Elliot's cold voice. "Donât worry, Father. That
piece of land is just the beginning. There are many other things waiting for Henry Lancaster."
"Henry Lancaster?" When Yvonne heard this, her pupils shrank instantly and she looked at Elliot.
