Chapter 160 Damien Being Unusually Accommodating
âMaybe you can persuade him to give it a shot. Who knows, it might work?â Cherise. nodded
enthusiastically. âDefinitely!â
âDo you know where the holistic medicine doctor is located? I can take my husband to see. him
sometime.â
âItâs up
in the mountains near our hometown, Jan furrowed his brows, thinking for at
moment.
âBut Cherry, Iâd suggest you plan a little getaway with your husband, and during the trip, you can visit
the old holistic medicine doctor.â
Cherise furrowed her brows. âWhyâs that?â
Ian began gently persuading her. âFirstly, that old holistic medicine doctor has some, family connections
with me. Your husband hasnât been the most welcoming toward me, so if he figures out you took him
there and finds the connection, he might jump to conclusions.â
Cherise paused, then nodded. âI see. Anything else?â
âSecondlyâ¦â Ian thought for a moment. âYour husband probably wants his eyes to recover even more
than you do, but holistic medicine is a bit of a long shot. If you donât tell him beforehand, he wonât get
his hopes up, and he wonât be let down if it doesnât work, right?â
Cherise pressed her lips and contemplated. âThat makes sense.â
She took a deep breath and looked at Ian with gratitude. âThank you. He should have. some free time
coming up.â
âIâll arrange a visit to our hometown soon under the pretense of visiting my grandma and taking a little
break, and we can see the doctor then.â
With the plan in place, that evening after dinner, Cherise deliberately stuck close to Damien.
âHoney, itâs been a while since we visited my grandma.â
She rested her head on Damienâs lap, her eyes shining as she gazed at him.
Damien
gave a faint smile and ruffled her hair. Didnât we talk to her on the phone just at few days ago? She
mentioned sheâs back home after being discharged from the hospital.â
âBut a phone call isnât the same as seeing her in person.â Cherise pouted.

âDarling, weâve just closed a major deal, and the whole team is taking a break. You should unwind,
too.â
âIâll take you to the countryside to visit my grandma, and we can have some relaxation time by catching
fish with our bare hands and feeding them to my cat. How does that sound?â
Damien chuckled. âOh? Youâre that skilled, catching fish barehanded?â
âObviously!â Cherise said with a sense of pride, raising her head high. âCatching fish with bare hands,
like fishing, requires a calm and focused mind.â
âThose folks in my hometown couldnât match my skills!â
âI used to catch so many fish when I was a kid. Weâd fry the big ones for my aunt and take the small
ones home to feed Plumkin.â
âPlumkin is the cat I raised in the countryside! I found her when she was just a kitten!â
âNow, sheâs aged and probably turned into a Grumpkinâ¦â
As a country girl at heart, Cherise couldnât resist sharing her stories about rural life.
She recounted every detail, from fishing with equipment to hands-on fish-catching. And from her cat,
Plumkin, to Jack, the neighbor, giving birth to chubby twins.
Even Mr. Hampson, standing nearby, grew tired and disinterested. He didnât know these country folks
and didnât care about their stories. Who would bother listening to these mundane tales?
But Damien listened attentively and quietly as Cherise let loose her stream of stories. Occasionally,
heâd pose a question.
Like, âSo, did Vivian finally get married?â
Or, âCan your uncleâs cats, Sky and Tay, climb trees?â
