âDo you really want to know?â Rosalie stared at Warren with a gloomy expression. âAmelia asked Aiden why he wanted to fight, and the reason behind Aidenâs fighting was that the children in kindergarten were all saying that his mommy was a criminal and a bad person! And if weâre being honest, Mr. York, itâs all because of your fiancée Irene Fletcher. If she hadnât made the matter public at the kindergarten, the children there wouldnât have known about it.â
Warrenâs expression suddenly darkened as he looked at Amelia, who was sobbing uncontrollably, his emotions a tumultuous mix.
âMr. York, do you really have nothing to do with Ameliaâs case from the past? Youâve never experienced life in jail. You canât understand what itâs like. For you, it might be a minor testimony, but for Amelia, itâs an everlasting stain on her life!â Rosalie didnât wait for Warrenâs response. She approached Amelia, offering her comfort and support.
After a long time, Amelia finally stopped crying.
âAmelia, donât worry about Aidenâs hearing aid. Iâve talked to Jon, and heâs going to have the doctor create a custom fitting for Aiden, so there wonât be any need for another surgery to replace it,â Rosalie reassured her.
Warren stepped forward and declared, âNo need. Iâll arrange to have my sonâs hearing aid customized.â
Amelia was stunned.
Rosalie frowned. She couldnât stop Warren from wanting to customize a hearing aid for Aiden because Warren was Aidenâs father.
After crying and letting out her emotions, Amelia gradually regained her composure. She stood up and addressed Rosalie with heartfelt gratitude, saying, âRosalie, thank you, but you guys donât need to bother about the hearing aid.â
She didnât want the hearing aid to cause any more conflicts.
Rosalie nodded and said, âJon and I will take you back.â However, Warren interjected, âI can send them back. You donât need to go through the trouble.â
Warren then crouched down and gently lifted Aiden into his arms.
Aidenâs eyes widened as he gazed at Warren. Even though they had only met a few times, Aiden recognized Warren as his father.
Deep within, Aiden harbored a longing for his father, so when Warren picked him up, he didnât resist;
instead, he felt a sense of happiness wash over him.
âSince Daddy is here, does that mean he and I can protect Mommy together? That way, Mommy wonât cry anymore!â the little boy thought to himself.
He was also aware that whenever he got hurt in a fight, his mother would become distressed. However, he disliked it when other children labeled her as a bad person. To him, his mommy was the best.
Warren left with Aiden cradled in his arms, leaving Amelia with no choice but to bid farewell to Rosalie before hurrying to catch up with them.
Watching the three of them leave, Rosalie felt a sting in her eyes.
âWhatâs the matter? Your eyes are red,â Jonathan asked.
âI just feel⦠sad. They could have been a happy family, but things turned out this way. Do you think Warren ever loved Amelia?â Rosalie murmured, âYes,â Jonathan affirmed.
âHow can you be so sure?â Rosalie asked curiously.
âI can tell from the way he looked at Amelia. Itâs just that he may not realize it yet,â Jonathan said.
People are often like this. One may have feelings that others could see clearly, but they had no idea.
11:51 âWarren loved Amelia, but now heâs about to marry another woman. And back then, he was responsible for putting the woman he loved in prison. Even if Warren regrets it one day, Amelia may not forgive him.
Ameliaâs entire life has already been destroyed. So, what if he repents and regrets his actions?â
Rosalie couldnât help but feel sorry for Amelia. She had fallen in love with a man who ultimately played a role in her incarceration.
Now, Warren dared to fight for custody!
Jonathanâs body stiffened. âDo you really think Amelia will never forgive Warren if he genuinely regrets his actions one day?â
Rosalie pondered and said, âI donât know. Iâm not Amelia.â
âThen⦠What if it were you?â Jonathan asked hesitantly.
âIf it were me, I wouldnât forgive you,â Rosalie replied. âSome mistakes can be forgiven, but some canât.
Sometimes, what people call forgiveness just means that the person can no longer evoke emotions and feelings as if they were just a stranger. They cease to have any impact on you.â
Upon hearing that, Jonathanâs chest felt constricted, as if something heavy weighed on it. His heart seemed to be submerged in icy water.
âOkay, letâs go,â Rosalie said. However, after taking a couple of steps, she noticed that Jonathan hadnât caught up with her. She turned back to look at him, finding him standing there. âJon?â she called out in confusion.
Only then did Jonathan seem to snap out of his reverie, and he offered a faint smile. âOkay. Letâs go.â
On the way back, Jonathan remained mostly silent. Even when Rosalie brought up a few topics, he responded briefly and didnât engage in further conversation.
As the car pulled up to the Youngblood residence, two figures suddenly rushed toward it from the side.
However, they were halted by the security guards stationed at the residenceâs entrance before they could reach the vehicle.
The two individuals shouted vehemently and struggled to break free from the grip of the security guards.
Rosalie was utterly shocked when she saw them. It was her biological father, Gordon, and her stepmother, Caitlin. She hadnât seen them since they had sold the house and departed Strico.
âIâll ask someone to chase them away,â Jonathan said.
âIâll go and see what they want,â said Rosalie after thinking for a while.
âThen Iâll go with you,â Jonathan said.
As they stepped out of the car, Gordon gazed at his eldest daughter standing beside Jonathan, filled with regret for his past blindness and ignorance.
They had gone to great lengths to find where Rosalie was employed before learning from her colleagues that she married Jonathan.
Gordon couldnât help but think, âRosalie was married to the renowned Jonathan from Strico! He wields immense power in Strico, far more than Zachary!
If only I hadnât quarreled with Rosalie back then, my life would be filled with glory and luxury now! I could have everything I desire! I would be wealthy thanks to my daughter! I wouldnât be in such a desolate state!â
âRosalie, I⦠I heard about your marriage to Jonathan. Why didnât you let us know when you tied the knot?â Gordon feigned a kind and concerned fatherly demeanor.
âI recall that you guys have cut ties with me,â Rosalie replied with indifference. âWhen you left Strico, you even sold our house, didnât you? Do I even have a home anymore?â
