The soft voice sounded as if engaged in a gentle and ordinary conversation, but his eyes trained on her without overlooking any of her subtle expressions.
Rosalie pursed her lips. âThereâs nothing to regret about. Since Iâve made that decision back then, I wonât regret it.â
âBesides, even if I had said those words back then, I couldnât possibly give Calvin what he really wanted. After all, the person I truly love isâ¦â Thinking of this, Rosalieâs eyes darkened.
âI loved him so much in the past. What about now? How much of my feelings do I have left for him?â
she pondered.
âWhat are you thinking about?â Jonathan hooked her chin with his finger and asked. He did not like her gloomy eyes just now, as if there was something he could not grasp.
âNothing,â Rosalie said.
âI want to hear the truth,â he said, narrowing his eyes.
She hesitated for a moment and finally uttered, âIâm just thinking about how I feel toward you.â
Jonathanâs dark gaze remained fixed upon her. He parted his thin lips and said in a hoarse voice, âThen, tell me. How do you feel about me?â
âI also donât know.â Rosalie smiled self-deprecatingly. âAfter all, I used to love you, but too many things happened after that. Itâs like they had shattered those feelings into pieces. I, too, donât know how our relationship will be in the future. Regardless, I will do my best to act as a good wife and mother.â
Rosalie paused momentarily. Then, with some expectation in her eyes, she said, âIf possible, I hope⦠I hope our relationship can be close like a family. We have three children, and I donât wish for us to be distant in front of them.â
Rosalie still hoped she could provide a warm family for the children.
Jonathan wondered, âA family, huh? But what I want is not only a family. I want moreâ¦â
âWhat? Do you just want us to be family?â Jonathan asked sarcastically.
Rosalie hummed in agreement and asked, âCan we?â
Jonathan stared at Rosalie. âIn other words, you donât love me anymore, right?â
Rosalie was stunned and did not know how to answer Jonathan. She thought, âDonât I love him anymore? That⦠That doesnât seem to be the case. After all, I used to love him so deeply. When he fell in love with me all over again, it wasnât like I wasnât moved. I also thought about the two of us starting over.â
It was just that after so many things that happened, Rosalie had never thought that they could start over in another way like this.
âWhether you do or not, youâll know after trying.â With that said, Jonathan directly kissed Rosalieâs lips.
An inexplicable anger surged in Jonathanâs heart, spreading quickly. He wondered why he was so disappointed after hearing Rosalie only wanted to be his family. Her silence only served to enrage him further.
âIâm angry. Why didnât Rosalie deny it?
Iâm even angrier at myself for caring about her silence. Why am I so indignant? What am I expecting?â
Jonathan thought.
âMmhâ¦â Caught off guard, Rosalieâs eyes widened in surprise, and she stared at the face close to her.
âJonathanâs kissing me?â Rosalie exclaimed inwardly.
The sensation on her lips felt so real, but she felt like she was in a trance.
His fingers were still clutching her chin tightly, forbidding her to avoid him in the slightest. His lips were slightly cold, different from her soft ones.
11:32 Jonathanâs kiss was domineering and possessive, but there seemed to be a touch of tenderness and yearning as before.
Rosalie felt her heart beating faster. At this moment, she did not want to struggle or resist.
She slowly closed her eyes and went along with Jonathan. Memories of the past emerged in her mind one after the other. Within a year, she realized some feelings had rooted deep in her.
It turned out Rosalie did not forget anything despite saying she wanted to.
When the kiss ended, Rosalie opened her eyes and gazed at Jonathan.
âWhy didnât you resist?â Jonathan murmured.
Rosalie did not know how to answer Jonathan because she had no answer.
âIs it because you want to be a family with me, so youâd endure it for the children even when I kiss you or do something more intimate?â Jonathan frowned, a trace of displeasure forming in his eyes.
Their marriage was originally for the children, but Jonathan wished Rosalie did not do everything for their sake.
As Jonathan spoke, his finger caressed Rosalieâs neck, slowly gliding downward.
Rosalie suddenly returned to her senses and grabbed Jonathanâs hand, saying, âYou said you wouldnât touch me without my consent!â
Jonathan casually remarked, âI said I wonât touch you, but⦠That was only during your pregnancy. Do you hope I donât touch you in the future as well? Perhaps, do you plan us to be a couple who treats each other like guests forever?â
Rosalie remained silent.
Jonathanâs fingers slipped into Rosalieâs clothes, and she suddenly trembled. Suddenly, the familiar feeling of nausea came up again.
Rosalie pushed Jonathan aside almost subconsciously and rushed into the bathroom. She leaned on the side of the sink and started throwing up.
âUrghâ¦â Vomiting sounds continuously sounded from the bathroom.
Jonathan stood still and stared at his right hand in a daze. Rosalieâs warmth still lingered in his fingertips. The corner of Jonathanâs mouth twisted into a subtle, self-deprecating smile. He slowly approached the bathroom door and quietly watched as Rosalie leaned against the sink, vomiting miserably.
After some time, Rosalie finally stopped and took a breather. After she rinsed her mouth, she looked up and noticed Jonathan at the bathroom door.
âJust now, I suddenlyâ¦â Rosalie had just started speaking when he interrupted her.
âIs it because of my touch?â he murmured and walked up to her. He gazed at her pale face, adding more contrast to her dark eyes. He looked at her small nose and pitiful lips. Only after kissing her could one understand how wonderful it felt.
He could get addicted to it.
âBut why does it seem like Iâm the only one getting addicted? Why am I so easily affected by her?
Then, I lost control,â he pondered.
