Chapter 4: The First World (4) [Part 1]
The food that Chu Wei cooked was neither delicious nor unpalatable. Ji Mo was not picky when it came to food and the way she ate was full of relish, causing Chu Wei to take another look at her.
It looked like Ji Mo was enjoying a mountain of delicacies, which made Chu Wei wonder if her cooking skills have improved.
Sensing that Chu Wei had been watching her eat food, Ji Mo took a quick look at the porridge in the pot and asked hypocritically. âDr. Chu, Iâm sorry, I forgot to ask if youâve already eaten. Why donât you join me to eat together?â
âItâs okay, Iâve already eaten.â She ate the big apple just now so wasnât that hungry, but she was still doubting whether she cooked extraordinarily well tonight.
Perhaps she can find a chance and try to cook again.
âOh, is that so.â Since Dr. Chu was not hungry, all these foods were hers.
The fragrant, clean, and soft millet porridge, the snow-white soft-boiled egg, and the crispy stir-fried vegetables. For Ji Mo, these are all delicious foods.
Chu Wei said at the side, âEat more if you like it â
Ji Mo nodded her head and ate all the food in a completely unladylike manner. Maybe she noticed Chu Weiâs strange gaze and she said, âIâm very hungry today. I didnât even have the chance to eat lunch at noon because of my busy schedule.â
Chu Wei expressed her understanding but she still reminded her, âNext time, remember to eat on time. Irregular eating is not good for your body.â
Ji Mo agreed, then Chu Wei helped her wash the dishes. She also supported her to the bathroom to wash her face and sent her back to her room before leaving.
âAlthough Iâm just a small cannon fodder now, itâs still much better than when I was still at the end of the world. The people here have good hearts. Itâs really great to meet Granny Zhou and the enthusiastic Dr. Chu right after I arrive in this world.â
â444, are you there?â Ji Mo was feeling lonely at this moment. She wanted to talk to someone, but she was currently alone in the room. After thinking for a while, she could only try to call System No. 444.
System No. 444: [Didnât I tell you before that you donât need to call the system for trivial things? The system is currently very busy. There are many hosts under my hands, and there are also many troublemakers. Dealing with these strange troubles every day really makes this system overwhelmed. Alright, Host No. 44, if you have any farts, let it go quickly. Because this is your first day in your first world, this system will temporarily tolerate your disturbance.]
Ji Mo didnât mind the disgust in System No. 444âs tone. Instead, she happily recounted what she had just experienced and finally sighed. âA peaceful world that is full of good people with warm hearts. Iâm starting to like this place.â
System No. 44 felt helpless and wanted to roll his eyes. So this Host. 44 asked him to come late at night just to chat about this?
He decided to slap awake this host of his who was immersed in a beautiful world, [Donât forget, you just narrowly escaped death tonight. This system is very optimistic about your future, so donât let this system down. Carry out your small cannon fodder counterattack mission well, and donât do something that will result in your death. If you fail your first mission, surviving in the next few worlds will become more and more difficult.]
The old-mother-like System No. 444 was still nagging, but stopped when he noticed that Ji Mo was not saying a word. He looked at her direction and saw she had fallen asleep. He almost blew out in anger.
Even while walking away, System No. 444 was still chattering nonstop. [The new hosts these days, really makes me worried ah. They were indifferent and didnât put this system to their eyes at all, and just fell asleep. This system will remember it! Next time, I wonât indulge such a troublesome host again⦠She really thinks that everyone will spoil her, hmp! Iâm so mad.]
Early in the morning, Granny Zhou was woken up by the sound of clanking in the kitchen. After arriving at the kitchen, she was surprised to find that Chu Wei was cooking.
âWeiâer, why are you cooking? Didnât you dislike cooking before?â In fact, what Granny Zhou wanted to say was, you donât have to cook anymore because you canât even know whether the food that you cook is edible or not.
Her granddaughter was good at everything, with the only exception of she was bad at cooking. It was bad to the point that she wouldnât want to take another bite after finishing the first one.
âItâs not easy for you to get a vacation, why donât you get some more sleep instead?â Granny Zhou looked at the symmetrically cut vegetables before glancing at the also symmetrically cut slices of meat. It was like an obsessive compulsive disorder in cooking, which made it hard for her to watch.
The vegetables were cut beautifully, and the other ingredients also looked good. Yet, when she thought of what these ingredients might encounter in the murderous hands of her granddaughter, she couldnât help but feel heartbroken.
She quickly walked to her granddaughterâs direction. âWeiâer, go and get some rest. Let grandma take care of this. Itâs not easy for a busy doctor like you to finally have a piece of mind.â
âGrandma, I slept very well last night, and Iâm not used to sleeping late in the morning.â Chu Wei refused to leave the kitchen and said righteously, âGrandma, I think my cooking skills have improved a bit. Let me try to cook today.â
Grandma Zhou looked at the various ingredients on the plate with a distressed expression, âWeiâer, your hands are not used for cutting vegetables and cooking. Let grandma do it.â
âNo, grandma. Youâre the one who should get some good rest. Youâre getting older, and you need to take care of your body more so let me do the cooking today. As your granddaughter, itâs my responsibility to cook some delicious food for you and also to take care of you. Besides, you have to see if my cooking skills have really improved, right?â
