99 [Bonus chapter]
A sudden sense of fear ran through Freyaâs nerve like a chill on an icy wind. She turned to look at Azazel who was standing at the door and her next sense of escape was disappearing from his sight.
âDonât.â He quickly warned, forcing Freyaâs feet to halt at where she was. The low demoness didnât need anyone to tell her she was in deep trouble. As bad as her situation was, she felt a little bit better it wasnât Roshan. She wouldnât even be standing here right now if it had to be him.
âWhat are you doing here?â He demanded, keeping his piercing blue gaze locked on the frightened demoness who flinched at his every word like a startled rabbit.
âYour highness I_â she tried to come up with an excuse but was silenced again.
âSo brave of you to show your face at a time like this Freya, but letâs leave that for now.â His calm tone was nowhere near calm and it gripped Freya with fear.
âWhy were you going through Annaâs wardrobe?â He took a step closer towards her, she took a step back.
âWhat are you looking for? Were did you send Roshan and Anna to?
âI_I donât know their whereabouts.â
âWhere are they?!â
.....
âI really donât know!â She truthfully voiced, âI created a portal to stop them from hitting the ground at a very short notice and that was it, I have no idea where it took them.â
âLiar.â
âIâm not a liar!â Freyaâs heart clenched when he kept staring at her with so much disdain in his eyes, like he was finding it difficult to even stand the mere sight of her. Why isnât he believing her? âThis is what Iâm talking about,â she pointed at him, ânone of you are willing to believe a word I say and itâs all because of what I did, yes I know I was wrong but what did you expect from me since everyone refused to listen to the things I had to say.â
âSilly excuses, the only person who was kind enough to do that is transported into who knows where! How was the outcome of trying to listen to you?â
A guilty look crossed her face at his heartless accusation and sadly he was right this time. Thinking about Annalise who gave her the antidote despite trying to kill her made her feel remorseful for once but she hid her guilt and held Azazelâs menacing gaze.
âI had my reasons.â
âAnd what has that got to do with her abandoned house?â To say he was shock-stricken to see her here was an understatement. He was restraining himself from absorbing her pathetic soul at the moment, not until he got the truth out of her.
Freyaâs eyes alarmingly widened at his demanding questions, the look on her face showed a frightful trepidation and when she tried to flee, she couldnât move her feet.
âWha_â
It left her baffled as she looked down to see her feet were glued to the ground. She struggled to move from her spot but she could barely move an inch, causing her heart to thrash as a reason behind her not being able to move crawled into her head.
âwhatâs happening? Why canât I move?!!â she inwardly panicked.
âDonât bother, itâs difficult to escape the trapping net and if you fail to answer my questions, your legs wonât be the only thing Iâll be trapping.â He calmly threatened but it sent Freyaâs body shuddering in dire fear. Living in the palace along with them, she knew Azazelâs capability when it came to things like this.
âSpeak!â His voice was like a clap of thunder that sent a trembling fluid down Freyaâs spine.
âThe p_p...poison!â Her voice trembled as she began, he could tell she was holding back her tears and he sensed her fears. Freya on the other hand met his stare, her teary eyes were already filled to the brim and as she looked away, a lone tear dropped and rolled down her cheek.
âAnna couldnât have survived that poison if she was human, yet sheâs still alive.â She sniffed and wiped her tears away. Azazel remained unfazed and kept his cold gaze locked on her.
âExplain.â
âI know I poisoned Anna, and Gretta might have added liquor to subdue its effect, but it wasnât supposed to free her completely from the poison.â She paused, she looked hesitant while taking a deep breath, âit should have affected her, but the effects of the poison wouldnât be strong enough to take her life, yet nothing of that sort happened.â
Azazelâs gaze turned serious as he carefully registered her words.
âAxiom.â Freya said the name, catching Azazelâs attention as his eyes widened slightly as if asking a silent question and she nodded, still trying to force her feet to move.
âYou know what the poison is.â
âA dangerous mortal venom got from the hiss of a serpent.â He stated and she nodded, âitâs impossible for a human to survive something as toxic as an Axiom venom, but she did.â
âWho sent you?â
âIf you really want to know why donât you ask Gretta and stop questioning me like Iâm the only person whoâs committed a crime before!â She voiced her frustrations out, knowing she wouldnât even be in this predicament if she hadnât listened to Gretta.
Her fist balled beside her just thinking about it.
âGretta??â The mention of her name already answered his question, but thatâll be dealt with when he returns to the palace.
âAnd how does that relate to Annaâs house?â
âI came to find answers.â She pointed out in a calmer tone as her fist slowly unclenched.
âAnswers to what?â
âThat Annalise might not be human.â
That particular phrase racked his ear like an explosion of steam whistles and a deafening silence fell in the quiet room. Anna might not be human?? Whatâs she trying to say here?!!
âWhat?â
âMaster Luderick! Please save me from this!â She suddenly called out for help, leaving Azazel a little confused, not until a black smoke appeared beside Freya, leading Azazel to take a step back.
Luderickâs figure came into sight after the smoke had vanished, but in a completely different body with the same cloak. Azazel wasnât entirely surprised.
His red eyes displayed anger as his nose wrinkled in annoyance.
âTch! If it isnât Roshan itâs his brother!â Luderick cursed in a way that alerted Azazel about something, âguess weâll have to hold in our plans for a few days.â
âPlans??â Questioned Azazel, âWhat plans?â
Grabbing Freyaâs hand, Luderick vanished from sight along with Freya, giving Azazel no chance to react as a gust of wind was blown his way, using it as a distraction to make him look away.
When he turned, he was the only one standing in the empty room.
âWhat plan was he talking about?â Azazel pondered on it for a while and the look on his face turned grim.
Anna isnât human??
