88 Unusual Favor
His tone was supposed to sound scolding, but if Anna heard right, she could swear she sensed a hint of worry laced in his alluring tone.
And did he just refer to her as his human? When did she become his??
âHow is it my fault?â She countered back regardless of her own thoughts, âyou said you wouldnât help me so I had to do it alone.â
âI expected you to beg for my help.â
âWell sorry to burst your bubbles but I have no intention of ruining my dress.â She retorted and at this point, he was tempted to squeeze her little mouth in order to shut her up.
Roshan finally gave up, it was difficult to strike a conversation with the silly woman without turning it into some sort of argument. No matter how exhausted she was, she always had enough strength to argue with him.
âWeâll finish this conversation later.â It was a subtle response that left Anna guessing what he really meant by that.
His attention eventually diverted to the person laying on the bed and he strode up to his bedside.
âIs this the Mayorâs son?â
.....
She reached to stand beside him before nodding in return, âIâve been trying to get a response from him for about twenty minutes now but heâs not responding, and look...â
She pointed at the bite mark on his left arm, âitâs totally different from the one on my neck.â
She moved her hair to the side so Roshan could see the mark he gave her and he instinctively lowered his gaze, as though he was unwilling to look directly into the bite mark on her neck.
âHe has up to four marks on his arm, is it possible to be beaten twice, at the same time?â
Roshan nodded with a cryptical stare, âyeah.â He crouched closer to examine the bite mark that was currently smudged with herbal ointment.
âThe venom has spread to a limit the herbs unfortunately canât reach, thatâs why he isnât responding.â He stated, causing Anna to take a step back as the last hope she had came crashing down like a tidal wave.
âThat means the herb wonât work?â
âNot if I can help it.â He muttered to himself before holding the victimâs arm. As much as he was willing to risk it, he couldnât let Annaâs hard work go to waste. All he had to do was stay focused in order to find the venom, that way itâd be easier to force the venom out of his system before itâs too late.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Taking a deep breath to prepare himself mentally, he closed his eyes to concentrate on the little energy left inside of him and before Annaâs hopeless gaze, she watched as Roshanâs body glowed in a soft illuminating light.
Her eyes widened in pure fascination, seeing those silver lights move from Roshanâs body and into the Mayorâs sonâs body.
âHeâs transferring his energy.â she silently marveled and her eyes shifted back to the Mayorâs son.
A stabbing pain was the first thing Roshan felt as he continued the process, but he was capable of handling it and decided to hold it in for as long as he could. He tried to remain focused so he could track the poison when another painful stab struck his chest.
The red crimson liquid slowly escaped from the corner of his mouth as he constantly battled the pain and tried to stay focused at the same time.
After a few minutes of energy transfusion, the young man resting on the bed suddenly jerked and he turned his head to the side, spitting out blood as he coughed violently.
Roshan finally let go of his arm as he sank to the ground with a light thud, his body shook slightly due to the pain circulating his system and it felt like he just ripped his tendons apart.
An elated gasp left Annaâs lips after seeing the Mayorâs son respond and she instantly hurried to his bed side.
âHeâs alright!â She happily exclaimed, gently helping the unconscious being lay back comfortably on the bed after the terrible coughing. His heartbeat slowly returned to a normal pace, relieving Annaâs heart further.
âRoshan he...â
She turned to tell Roshan the exciting news, only to see the being was battling with a look of pain sheâs never seen in his eyes before and her happy expression slowly dissipated. What caught her attention was the blood that escaped from the corner of his lips.
âRoshan!â
She hurried to his side with quick steps, discarding the Mayorâs son from her mind as she quickly knelt on the ground beside Roshan.
âWhat... what happened to you?â
âDonât come close.â He warned after seeing she was about to touch him, âIâm fine.â
âYou donât look fine!â She argued. His face was contorted with a pain he couldnât hide and she knew he was trying his best to keep them hidden Ashe gritted his teeth.
âItâs just a little consequence I have to face, Iâm alright.â
âConsequence?â Anna didnât get it, âwhat consequence?â
âCheck him while I...â
He hadnât even finished speaking when she raised the hem of her dress and lightly wiped the blood from the corner of his lips, as though she was scared sheâd end up hurting him more if she pressed too hard.
âYou claim to be his highness when you canât even take care of yourself, how will you take care of your people then? Iâm still a maid so the care of his highness comes first, you canât stop me.â
She queried non-stop like a mother scolding her son for being reckless. He didnât miss the look in her innocent brown eyes and for some reason, he found it difficult to look away.
âYou...â he finally said something, âyou.... never listen, do you?â
She noticed the glint in his Hazel-green eyes, causing a familiar feeling to flutter in her heart, but their moment was interrupted when the door opened. William was the one to step in.
âI heard a lady scream.â He said with an alarming look, only to spot Anna helping the annoying man up to his feet.
âWhat happened here?â He immediately questioned. Surprising both Anna and Roshan with his presence. Goodness knows what could have happened if he stepped in during the energy transfusion.
Roshanâs identity would have been exposed.
The soft painful groan behind them caught their attention, equally catching the attention of Williamâs and when they turned to see who it was.
The young man on the bed was slowly regaining consciousness, leaving Williamâs eyes to widen in disbelief after seeing the Mayorâs son wake up from his deep slumbers.
âN_Nicholas?â If he was wearing glasses, heâd have definitely taken it off to be certain he was seeing correctly.
âArghh, my head.â The blinding headache was the first thing Nicholas was welcomed with after staying how many days in bed??
âNicholas, youâre awake!â William couldnât hold back his exclamation before rushing to his bedside.
âHow are you feeling?â
âItâs best not to stress him, he just woke up and his brain needs a lot of rebooting to do.â Anna suggestively explained, drawing Williamâs attention back to her and Roshan.
âHow did..how did you?!â He really couldnât believe it, they healed the Mayorâs son.
âBut what happened to him?â He asked after noticing a little change in Roshanâs expression.
âHe...uhh... heâs not feeling too well,â she quickly came up with a lie, âitâs something that occurs once in a while with him, but heâll be fine.â
âThen we better put him to rest to show our gratitude.â
âCan I ask for one favor then?â She mustered up enough courage to ask, causing Williamâs brow to pull together.
âWhich is?â
Anna pinned her lips together as though feeling ashamed to say it, but it was something that needed to be done.
âCan we share a room?â
