225 Agnesâs Touch
âIs there anything you wish for me to take care of Milady?â Agnes proceeded to ask after she was done arranging the Lordâs chamber. It was advisable to test her working capabilities in order to judge her accurately, since she deals with chambers mainly. Becca suggested the Lordâs chamber would be a good place to start since itâd require for the new maid to put more effort.
From Annaâs fair observation, the woman did a remarkable job when it comes to taking care of a household. The room appeared neat and sparkling tidy. The chamber was already neat before, but there was some touch the maid added that Anna found the room to be neater than before.
For that, Anna was indeed impressed.
âNo, thereâs nothing more.â Her soft response was what came next as she lowered the book she was reading, so she could look at the middle-aged-woman who kept her head in a low respectable bow.
All of this sudden respect felt extremely new to Anna, she could remember how she was the one who did most of a maidâs duty, but she never imagined that a day will come when she will be the one to make servants do her own bidding.
It felt a bit uncomfortable and since Anna wasnât fond of it, she didnât really need someone to take care of her things since sheâs more than capable of doing them herself.
âAre you sure Milady?â Agnes asked again for second confirmation, and Anna nodded with an honest smile, already aware of why she took a second confirmation.
âYes, you just arrived, so I think you should get settled first and then we can talk later.â She asserted thoughtfully. Agnes slowly raised her head up to look at Anna, and she smiled warmly as a sign of her gratitude to Annaâs kindness.
âThank you for welcoming me in.â
.....
âThe pleasure is mine, you may leave now.â Anna dismissed the new maid before turning away to read the book she was holding, sitting more comfortably on the dressing table while the maid bowed once more before turning around to leave.
Once again, that disturbing dizziness Anna had felt was starting to trouble her again, most especially her sight. The pages on the book she was reading appeared blurry, and it was difficult to make out the words written in them. Closing the book in annoyance when the frustration started to kick in, she let out a tired hum before placing a hand to her forehead, her eyes closed and she said nothing more.
Agnesâs face immediately contorted into a worrisome expression after taking notice of Annaâs predicament. She was about leaving when Annaâs movement made her stop to see if she was alright.
âIs everything okay with you, Milady?â She asked, still standing at the threshold and waiting for Annaâs permission to come in or not.
âIâm fine.â Anna opened her eyes, but her vision still wasnât stable. Apparently there was supposed to be one mirror on the dressing table, but she was seeing two mirrors.
She could feel a headache trying to cloud her senses and none of this was explanatory. Whatâs happening to her all of a sudden??
âAre you sure?â Agnes asked again when the lady didnât respond. This time, she took a step in, forgetting that she needed permission to enter the ladyâs chamber, and she was standing behind Annalise whose eyes were closed again as she tried to deal with the headache and dizziness at the same time.
âIâm just_â Annaâs voice trailed off. When she opened her eyes again, she was looking into the mirror, but instead of seeing the usual brown eyes she possessed, her eyes were shimmering with an usual golden glow swirling in her irises.
Her eyes changed color??
âM_my eyes???â
A shocking gasp tore from Agnesâs lips when she saw the difference in Annaâs eye color. She wasnât as shocked as Anna who no longer cared about her dizziness when her eyes at the moment were a completely different color.
âWhat... what happened to my eyes??â She leaned forward to the mirror so she could look at it properly, in case she was dreaming or not.
âYou need to calm down Milady.â Agnes reached for her side the moment Anna started to panic. The shock and fear were written on her face as she studied her eyes in the mirror, and it appeared she wasnât seeing things.
Her eyes changed color!!
âBut my eyes-â
âYouâre panicking, you need to calm down or it might affect you even more.â Agnes hinted worriedly when she noticed the dressing table vibrate magically on its own, as though itâd violently break if too much pressure was applied to it, and if Anna doesnât calm down, not only will the tables break, but the windows and shelves and basically everything in the room would shake and shatter noisily.
âMilady.â
Agnes stood behind the chair Anna was sitting on and began to massage Annaâs head for her.
At first, her unexpected actions had taken Anna by surprise, she wanted to ask what the lady was doing, but as the soothing massaging continued, Anna felt her system relax gradually from the womanâs touch, her eyelids appeared heavy while her head was currently having a moment of her life.
The vibrating stopped, and Annaâs golden eyes turned normal when she relaxed against Agnesâs touch.
âAre you fine Milady?â
Anna wanted to respond, she wanted to ask what sort of relaxing technique this was. It was just a massage, but the familiarity of her touch didnât skip Annaâs heart. It reminded her of someone, and when she managed to lift her lids up so she could look at Agnes, she appeared to be genuinely concerned for her health while continuing the massage.
Who is this woman?
âAre you feeling better?â
Annaâs attention shifted to her face in the mirror, and her eyes had returned to their original color again. But she was starting to feel sleepy and couldnât respond.
âThis massage_â she looked at Agnes through her heavy lids. âThis massage feels familiar.â
At the mention of familiar, the woman massaging her tensed at the spot, and her hands stopped like someone who just got caught in the act.
âFor a second there, I thought someone really close to my heart was touching me.â She admitted before looking at the frozen Agnes.
