Chapter 655
Nikki was visibly upset when Olivia said that. She said in a honeyed tone, âLook at her, Ms.
Procter. Sheâs so uncivilized. I meant wellâ¦â
Janice had just been enjoying the show. She didnât expect to be dragged into it.
âYou mean well?â Janice huffed. She put down her cutleries and wiped her lips elegantly.
âI didnât pick up on that at all. You were insulting her parents, too.â
Nikki looked at Janice in disbelief. She had stayed by Janiceâs side for so long. She didnât expect
Janice to side with Olivia.
âMs. Procter, I just felt bad for you. She isnât even taking good care of you as your daughter-in-law.
She wakes up late in the morning. I donât think she even cares about you.â
Janice glanced at her with narrowed eyes. âIf she doesnât care about me, who does?â
Nikki blushed and said shyly, âMs. Procter, you know how I feel toward Ethanâ¦â
She heard a sneer. Janice lifted her chin with a finger and said, âDo you know what I hate the
most?â
Nikki met Janiceâs gaze. She felt bloodlust from the otherâs eyes, sending chills down her spine.
âIâ¦â
Janice continued coldly, âI hate bitches that intentionally try to steal another personâs man.
Nikkiâs heart skipped a beat when she heard that. She recalled Janiceâs past and realized that she
was just the type of person Janice hated.
âMs. Procter, Iâm not like that. I am Ethanâs childhood friend. Iâve known him for a long time,â
Nikki explained.
Janice withdrew her hand and took a wet tissue to wipe the part of her finger that touched Nikki.
âIf I remember correctly, Iâve never heard Ethan say he has feelings for you. Are you sure youâre
not forcing yourself on him, Ms. Shaw?â
âBut, Mrs. Procter, I like Ethan a lot. That woman is not even worthy of him. She doesnât come from
an affluent family, hold no notable positions, or even have a degree.

âSheâs nothing but a pretty face. Iâm more suited to be Ethanâs wife. He should just divorce her
already.â
âYou like him? Whatâs the value in that? Or are you implying that the Miller Family has fallen so
far that we need an arranged marriage to survive?
âThe resources that the Shaw Family has are inconsequential to us. Also, youâre just a pianist.
Thereâs nothing special about that.
âHow dare you slander my daughter-in-law in my face repeatedly?â
Janice didnât respond to Nikkiâs words because she didnât want to argue with someone younger.
But she started to go all out on Nikki.
Nikki looked at her with an aggrieved expression. âMs. Procter, what did I do wrong? Iâve treated
you like my mother for the past two years.
âIf itâs something I did, please tell me, Iâll change â¦â
âDid I ever ask you to take care of me? Am I paralyzed or disabled? Do you not see the maids we
have? Or do you think you can do a better job than them?â
Nikki was so shocked that she even stopped sobbing.
She looked at Janice in disbelief. âMs. Procter, thatâs not what you said back then.â
âWhat should I have said? I couldnât exactly drive free labor away.â
