Max quietly sat in the room as he looked at the stuff being auctioned. Nothing had interested him until now.
Lear on the other hand had already brought a couple of stuff using Max's money.
Max didn't mind since he determined it useful for Lear's training.
At this moment, suddenly the room towards the corner made a bid for the very first time.
Max looked at the item and it was actually an average item for the auction at this level.
A 6â sword made with Adamantite Ore. It was a good sword. But who didn't have a better sword than that hereâ¦.people who were mostly bidding were among the one in the lower area.
It was a good item for a gift.
Max planned to scan the item but to his surprise, the glass case which contained the sword had a formation on it.
But still, it couldn't stop his spirit energy from passing through and when he finally took a good look at the sword, his lips curled up into a smile.
'Found itâ¦'
Max looked at the crystal embedded in the hilt of the sword. It was actually a storage artifact. It was well hidden and the glass case made sure that people couldn't scan the item.
So no one would be able to tell if there was something special about it.
And this glass case wasn't something out of ordinary. People used it as a deception. It was just to pique people's interest to make them believe something was special about it.
But these were cheap tricks that only fools and curious soul with too much money would fall for it and here they were using it so carefullyâ¦..
But quiet a few people fell for it as these was no ordinary auction house...they had a good reputation so no one believe that the sword was normal...
The starting bid was of 900000 but soon the price began to shoot up.
Lear looked at Max and he nodded.
Lear immediately raised the bid by 500000 sending it to well beyond 5 million zen.
The Auctioneer was a bit dumbfounded. He didn't think there would be that many people interested in something like these.
The price continued to rise and in the end there were only two people bidding. Max and the person towards the corner.
When the price rose up to 20 million, the room on the opposite lobby took part in the bid as well...
"25 million zen!"
The auction hall soon turned silent.
Max frowned as he looked at Aria's room.
'This girl does she really think she can get out alive with this thing in her hand?' Max didn't know what was going through her head.
To be honest, he would rather let those guys have it than Aria having itâ¦..he didn't want someone of her caliber dying hereâ¦
â¦
"What's going on?'' The elderly man asked as he looked at the person standing behind.
Werner who was standing behind him had a grave expression on his face. He himself had no idea what was going on.
Just who were these people raising the prices...
Any sane person wouldn't do soâ¦
"What does it look like? It's obviously someone had leaked the informationâ¦." The Young man leaning against the door said with a mocking tone.
Werner glared at him. But he knew that was possibleâ¦..
"What the hell are you looking at?" The guy in the corner looked at Werner and suddenly walked up to him.
"What the hell are you glaring for? Isn't this your carelessnessâ¦" the guy said to Werner as he smiled.
The elderly man didn't do anything about them as he continued to raise the bid.
"What the f*ck are you staring at me for?"
"Pak!"
The guy slapped Werner right across his face.
"Stop staring at me...or I will gouge your eyes outâ¦" the guy said as he held Wener's collars.
"That's enoughâ¦" the elderly man said and the guy finally clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction as he returned to his place and stood like nothing ever happened.
"Why does I have to be in this mess caused by the idiot, while she is out there enjoyingâ¦." The guy grumbled in the complaint.
At this moment, Werner was boiling in anger. He didn't know just what the elders saw in this human to give him such treatmentâ¦
"Go and keep an eye on those two rooms. Kill them if possibleâ¦." The elder suddenly said and shadows moved through the room.
"Masterâ¦.but that would cause a commotionâ¦.we might even expose ourselves to the Ancient Families.'' Werner suddenly said with a frown.
"Even if we have to massacre the entire place, we can't let those three items fall into anyone else's handsâ¦'' the old man replied with an indifferent tone.
When Werner heard that, his face turned ugly. He knew what this meant. He would have to bear the responsibility of all of thisâ¦.he might even lose his chance at successorshipâ¦.
The bidding continued and when it reached 100 million, the person in the opposite lobby stopped.
The elderly man wasn't surprised. It was possible that there were some curious souls who had too much money to spare. Besides, the lady had joined later on which meant that she might have gotten curious....Besides, the main reason the old man beloved it was because, he couldn't feel anything from the person in that room.
A weak person like that wouldn't bid for it after knowing what it was....that was practically asking to get killed....
As for the other room, there was something he couldn't grasp aboutâ¦he didn't feel good stating at that place....it made him curious.
As the bid reached 300 million, the elderly man closed his eyes to look just who this person was. He didn't believe that this was just a curious soul...
â¦.
A few minutes agoâ¦..
"Is this really worth it?" Erina asked with a confused expression as she looked at Lear.
Namen had the same expression on her face.
The price was about to cross 15 million which was probably enough to buy them a weapon of next grade. It was one thing if it was an ingredient since they had diverse use but for a finished productâ¦.there wasn't any other use that you would be willing to pay that muchâ¦.
"I just like the designâ¦" Lear gave an awkward smile. But it was possible there was no lack of odd and weird people among the nobles. They had just too much money to waste.
At this moment, Aria was still bidding. Max knew that she was penniless a while ago. From the looks of it either she had managed to get money from her family or sold some of her belongings.
If it was the second, Max was afraid that the idiot might have sold some artifacts of her own.
When the price went past 30 million people began to get tensed. At this point some started to realise something was going onâ¦.
"50 million!"
"70 million!"
"100 million!"
By now, Erina and Namen were starting at Lear whose expression was grim. He still had money left to spare. But the thing was the amount had just gone absurd. Even he shouldn't have this much money.
At this moment, Max's expression was really grim. There was no way that Aria had so much money with her unless she sold every piece of her equipment. Only selling life-saving artifacts could earn her this much money.
If she was attacked now, she would be dead in an instant. Even Natahan had a life-saving artifact but the idiot had completely depleted his mana to activate it.
Suddenly Max felt people approachâ¦.no demons...would be more accurateâ¦.
"What's wrong?" Lear asked as he noticed the change in Max's posture. He was on alert.
"They are hereâ¦.these b*stards might attackâ¦I don't want the girls involved. Besides, too many people will die if a fight breaks out⦠so stop after a few more attemptsâ¦.." Max whispered into his ears. He never thought these guys would do something like this in broad light.
'Were they really not afraid of the ancient families or this thing was just something extremely valuable to themâ¦'
"What about her?" Lear asked about Aria in the opposite room. If they were onto them, it was possible that they would attack her as well.
"I am already onto it.." Max said and the next moment Aria stopped bidding. Even though he didn't want to, he had put Aria under his restraint using his Spirit Snake.
Max immediately summoned Juju and it immediately climbed into the ventilation duct and disappeared without anyone noticing it.
'Protect herâ¦' Max ordered it.
With the spirit snake and Juju, she shouldn't die even without making a noise. In the worst case, they would just cause a commotion and then escape using the chaos with her.
He then passed his transmitter to Lear while Lear continued to bid and the price rose from 100 million to 300 million and this was where he stopped.
"Contact Bahamut to let the headmaster know about the situationâ¦this is way above us to handleâ¦" Max wasn't delusional. He knew just what it meant if these demons were willing to attack in broad light.
In that case, there had to be someone powerful to observe the situation and order something so absurd.
At this moment Max felt shivers run down his spine.
'F*ck!'
This was bad...extremely badâ¦..
Max felt a presence looking down on him. It was someone who had already gone beyond the limits like his grandpaâ¦..his buffs wouldn't work. Max was sure that if the person released his aura Max would be on the floorâ¦.
As the presence vanished, Max looked at Learâ¦his eyes were enough for Lear to understand the graveness of the situation.
"Keep an eye on whatever they bid forâ¦" Max said with a grave tone.
"What are you two whispering about?" Erina frowned, she wasn't dumb and so wasn't Namen.
Max didn't think it would be something so serious, with demons showing up and even showing such an aggressive stance. If he knew about it beforehand, he would have never gotten these two involved.
"I am about to leaveâ¦.I only accompanied him thinking that it would be fun but it's just boringâ¦." Max smiled as he looked at Lear.
Lear didn't have a particularly good expression on his face and nodded.
Plan was simple...get out and kill them. These guys were not a threat to him but he couldn't say for a few people in that room.
And if things went wrong, Lear would try get out with these two even if it meant using the rest of the people here as meat shield....
Max opened the door and as soon as he closed the door, he moved like a bolt of lightning.
As he left the place where he was standing, jet black wines pierced through the place.
There were two people who suddenly emerged from shadows and chase after him.
Since the auction was still ongoing, the hallway was empty.
'This b*stards really attackedâ¦.' Max grumbled internally. What was shocking that they didn't even make any sound, Max would be dead without anyone knowing if he just stood there.
He really wanted to make noise and get everyone's attention but he wouldn't know what to do if that caused a bloodbath with the demons going all out.
If he wasn't wrong, the strongest person protecting the place was a Master or a Grand Master Tier mageâ¦.and that was not enough to prevent a disasterâ¦
The train hijack didn't end up in a disaster because of his grandfatherâ¦.but here no one was at his grandfather's levelâ¦.this might as well be the biggest tragedy after the Arcane destruction if Max made a bad decision.
At this moment Max's eyes suddenly widened as he saw Lora walking towards his way and she suddenly froze in her steps asher eyes met with Max.
'Damn it!'
Max pulled his breaks and pushed his feet deep into the floor before making an abrupt turn.
"Shnk!"
The man behind immediately caught up and his hand forming a sharp black blade went for Max's face.
But Max pulled his head sideways and t
letting black blade tear through his right cheek.
The man was obviously surprised to see Max move way faster than before. But Max didn't give him a chance to get back and pull himself together. With the dagger in his hand, he closed in and split the man into two.
But the other person passed right by him and went for Lora behind him.
'Sh*t!'
