98 Ch. 98 Peaceful Reading Time
The rest of the day, Richard locked himself in his wifeâs room to be with his two beloved girls. He had ordered all the maids not to tell Anxiaâs room position to his cousin.
Apart from that, he also ordered the maid to deliver dinner to Anxiaâs room after making sure that Quinn would not follow the maid so that she would know where he was hiding.
Quinn had the right to give orders to the maids here and deserved the same service as Richard. But the controlling authority giving absolute orders still comes from Richard, while Quinn was only a distinguished guest.
The three figures were sitting on a long couch while reading different books. Richard sat with one leg crossed on his thigh, while Anxia laid her head on Richardâs thigh while reading a childrenâs book for Lori, who was sitting pretty on the other side of Richard.
Richardâs right hand hugged his daughter while his left hand stroked Anxiaâs stomach gently.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Since Lori was with them, Richard refrained from lifting his wifeâs shirt to feel her tempting milky skin.
Anxia continued reading storybooks to her daughter with raised hands so her daughter could see the intriguing pictures in the book.
Richard could also see the picture and heard his wifeâs gentle tone when telling or reading a book to their daughter.
No wonder Lori enjoyed hearing Anxia read for her more than reading it herself. Anxiaâs gentle tone and her impressions were very musical.
.....
His wife even changed how she spoke and altered her voice during dialogue. Anxia was very good at switching voices, as if one could hear two different peopleâs conversations.
Richard smiled with satisfaction, knowing Anxiaâs other gift. He didnât expect his wife to be so good at reading stories.
Even Richard was curious if he could do as Anxia did and emphasize dialogue so naturally.
While Anxia was reading a narrative, Anxia was reading the text flatly, firmly, and casually. But when she was reading a dialog, Anxia suddenly turned into another person and babbled with colorful expressions as if Anxia was a character in the story.
He could even see Anxiaâs changing expression following her dialogue lines, making Richard fall in love more and more.
âThen, the queen twirled her magic wand to free Madeline from the tower. Unfortunately, Madeline prefers to stay in the tower even though the prison doors are open. Understanding her beloved daughterâs choice, the queen gave her blessings to her daughter and allowed her to live happily with the man she loved. The end.â Anxia closed her book as soon as she ended the story.
âAw... why did the story end so sad?â pouted Lori sadly as she wished the story would get a happier ending.
âI donât think itâs sad. Princess Madeline chose to stay because she wanted to be with the dark fairy. The dark fairy couldnât get out of the tower because the sunlight would kill him. They live happily inside the tower.â
âBut they canât go anywhere.â
âWho said that?â This time it was Richard who responded to their daughterâs comment. âThey can go out at night and enjoy the awe-stracking night view. When the sun rises, they can cuddle or read a book together inside the dark tower. So basically, they donât have to stay in the tower forever.â
Anxia frowned, hearing Richardâs weird explanation. As far as she could remember, the storybook she had just read had nothing written saying the dark fairy and princess Madeline went out to explore the world at night. How did the man develop this story?
âIs that true? They can go to beautiful places?â
âOf course. Pretend itâs the same as us. We canât go out at night due to sleep to replenish our energy; the dark fairy will sleep in the morning to replenish his energy. Because of that, the story of the princess and the dark fairy doesnât have a sad ending.â
Hearing her fatherâs explanation made Lori smile broadly and feel relieved that the princess could still be happy with the person she loved.
Seeing the change in her daughterâs expression made Anxia admire her husband even more.
Because her current position was lying down with Richardâs thigh as a pillow, Anxia could easily adore Richardâs good-looking face.
She could even see a halo around Richard as if that man was the brightest star among thousands of other stars.
Unknowingly, Anxia kept looking at Richard, who was currently responding patiently to the thousands of words their daughter had said.
The way the man looked at their daughter seemed peaceful, and his voice when he spoke could make the hearts of those who heard him feel warm and like talking to a protector.
Anxia couldnât remember what it was like talking to her doting father or what it felt like when her mother read her a book of fairy tales before she fell asleep. Based on her lonely childhood, she desired what she couldnât have back then for her daughter.
She felt so grateful to Richard for treasuring Lori and thinking about everything their daughter needed.
At first, she thought, a jerk like Richard would never accept an illegitimate child from an assassin, let alone adore and dote on her.
Moneyed people, especially those she had met, were usually arrogant and enjoyed looking down on others. Anxia assumed a guy like Richard no longer existed in this world, but her husband proved her wrong.
Even though it would be a few to the point she could count it with her fingers, Anxia was sure there must be someone with a good and noble heart like her husband.
How lucky she was to get entangled with an extraordinary man like Richard. She had taken dozens of human lives but still got a husband like Richard?
Is she allowed to enjoy this privilege? Is she worthy of the manâs affection?
Plus, she was certain Richard was friendly to her only because Lori was between them, and he wouldnât have married her if Lori werenât in this world.
Thinking of this possibility made Anxiaâs heart cloud over, and a sudden sadness crept into her mind.
