200 Ch. 200 A Mysterious Girl
Anxia decided to get some fresh air after dancing once with her brother-in-law. Her head was spinning looking at the crowd of people and not to mention the many women who wore dresses so elegant came to ask questions. They were all curious about how she managed to win the heart of one of the twins.
Anxia felt like she wanted to silence them with a deadly answer. âOh, it was super easy, really. I drugged him up with an aphrodisiac and had a daughter. Thanks to that, he was forced to marry me to give his baby a complete family.â
Anxia almost answered as she had in her mind to all the womenfolk there. But she managed to restrain herself and only gave a smile that didnât reach the eyes without intending to satisfy their curiosity. Thus, she decided to be alone on the balcony outside while enjoying the cool night breeze.
âIsnât this a crowded party?â
Anxia frowned, hearing a voice from behind her. She didnât even know someone was approaching her! Not to mention, this individual spoke in her mother tongue, which stunned her. Did Leonard Heinest also invite eastern people?
Anxia investigated the voice owner, who turned out to be a girl in her early twenties.
âWell, you could say so. And you areâ¦.â
âOh, donât mind me. Iâm just an insignificant guest here.â
Anxia no longer spoke and decided to ignore the girl and turned in the opposite direction to look at the night view.
.....
âHeaven is fair, and no one is exempt. The only one who can help you is yourself.â
Anxia gasped at the saying and immediately turned back to look directly at the girl. But, oddly enough, she couldnât find anyone there. She stepped out to look for the girl. She wanted to ask where the girl had heard this phrase. She also wanted to ask if the girl knew her. Did the girl know her mother?
The only person who taught her this phrase was Loraine Shu, her biological mother. Anxia wished she could find the girl and ask her this. She hoped her mother was still alive and wanted to meet her soon.
However, she met another breathtaking teenage girl when she turned into another corridor. The teenage girl looked at the moon through the open window with both hands leaning on the sill.
As if the girl could feel her presence, the teenage girl looked at her, shocking Anxia to death. Not because of the girlâs pretty face but because of the color of her eyes. Previously she was sure she saw that the teenage girlâs eye color was brown, but why did it suddenly turn green?
Unbeknownst to her, Anxia stood rooted to the spot as the teenage girl slowly walked towards her.
For some reason, Anxia felt something dangerous about the girl, but her legs wouldnât listen to her brain, as if something was holding her back.
Anxia could only swallow nervously when she saw the teenage girl standing right in front of her with one hand raised.
Reflexively, Anxia shook her head away, but her legs still couldnât move. She instantly felt her breath catch when she felt the skin of the girlâs palm touching her cheek. And she was even more astonished when she saw tears from the corner of the teenage girlâs eyes.
âPoor soul. Donât be too sad.â
Anxia was confused by the girlâs weird statement. Why should she be sad? âUhm⦠Iâm not. Are you lost? Iâll take youââ her words were cut off when she felt someone approaching them and pulling the teenage girlâs hand away from her face.
The person pulled the girl and hid her from Anxiaâs view as if Anxia wanted to hurt the teenage girl. Anxia wanted to scold that second individual but swallowed it when she recognized the guy who had grabbed the girlâs hand.
Kendrich Alvianc. What is he doing here?
âSorry, itâs her first meeting with many people. I hope she doesnât bother you.â
Anxia blinked a few times at the young manâs apology. Kendrich did say sorry to her, but why did all his actions seem to protect the girl from her?
âShe didnât bother me. Arenât you Kendrich Alvianc? I heard that you are my husbandâs cousin.â
âYour... Who is your husband?â
âRichard Calvin.â
Kendrich gave a big smile when he heard her husbandâs name, which made Anxia astonished. âAh, so youâre Richieâs wife that Iâve heard a lot about. Thatâs right; I am his cousin.â
One of Anxiaâs eyebrows rose, noticing this young manâs change in demeanor. Previously, the man had been aloof and reluctant to talk to her. However, once he found out who her husband was, the man changed by being warm and friendly towards her.
âThis is the first time we have met. Nice to meet you,â Kendrich added, then held out his hand for a handshake with Anxia.
Anxia greeted the handshake with a small smile. Shouldnât it be⦠her husband who introduced her to her cousin? Why do they even present themselves to each other?
âHave you met the twins? They are playing a silly game.â
âI havenât met them yet, but I can see why they look like that.â Kendrichâs smile vanished when he heard a sob behind him. âIâm sorry. We have to go now. But itâs nice to meet you⦠uhmâ¦â
âJust call me Anxia.â
âOkay. Nice to meet you, Anxia. I hope we can meet another time again.â
âYou donât live here?â
âNo. I came to pick someone up. If youâll excuse me...â Then, Kendrich took the hand of the little girl who sobbed and left Anxia alone in her confusion.
Donât tell me⦠Kendrich came from the states to pick up the child. What is their relationship, anyway? Imagining a twenty-something man with a minor... was too unbelievable, and Anxia couldnât even dare to imagine it.
Well, thatâs none of her business. After all, all her husbandâs cousins ??had their own nature and were one of a kind.
