197 Ch. 197 Impossible Game
âWhat are they doing? Itâs not like they are naughty boys like they used to be.â Chleo was astounded by the appearance of the twins??, who deliberately wore the same clothes. As far as Chleo could remember, the twins never wore the same clothes so that no one would mistake their names. Richard even dyed his hair lighter so everyone could immediately tell them apart, although they were wearing the same clothesâthat was right after Raymond settled down. âDonât tell me... Are they challenging someone to play the which one and which game?â
âDo you know that game?â asked Michele because she had never known her husband had played this game before.
âThey played it all the time in our younger days, and I doubt anyone could tell them apart once they were in that mode.â
âIncluding our in-laws?â Anxia couldnât help but be interested in the game.
âYup. I wonder why theyâre doing it now.â
Anxia and Michele looked at each other, not knowing what explanation they should give to the older lady. On second thought, Anxia wondered what Chleora and her husband were doing hereâneither of them was noble nor related to Heinest. Anxia tried asking Michele and got quite a surprising answer.
âAxelard Cavendish is a descendant of an ancient Lord of Derbyshire. Aside from our father-in-law, the Cavendish family also took a big part in aiding the Heinest when they all fled to England. It explained how the Heinest invited the Cavendish.â Micheleâs explanation earned a nod from Anxia.
Not long after, Michele brought her to other Heinest families, such as Dieter and Adrianna. In contrast to Leonardâs wife and daughter, Dieterâs and Adriannaâs couple were friendly toward Anxia and the othersâthey flashed warm smiles but kept their distance from her. As Anxia glanced at Quinn, the girl did the same with the rest of the Heinest family, making her wonder, was it possible that all the Heinest members were acting in a friendly manner to hide their reluctance?
Anxia wished she could ask Richard, but her husband...
.....
Anxia glanced at Richard, who was now together with his twin brother discussing with one of the guests. It should be Richard who brought Anxia to meet with other family members. Instead of Richard, Michele accompanied her and introduced her to other acquaintances. As Michele only knew a few of them, both women decided to return to their in-laws after exchanging pleasantries with Chleo and the others.
The huge mansion was divided into two parts, with white walls and golden pillars separating it. One was where the dance floorâwhere couples could dance to the accompaniment of an orchestra, while the latter was a relaxing place where all guests could sit, chat, or play chess.
For the umpteenth time, Anxia glanced at the twins, who still refused to gather with their families. She thought the two men would not be able to stay away from their wives for long, but those stubborn men proved her wrong.
âJie Jie, until when are they going to be like this? They donât even come close to us.â
âYouâre right. At this rate, we wonât get them to ask us to dance.â
âAnd we wonât be able to carry out our plan.â Andrew had asked Anxiaâs help figuring out how to win this almost impossible game. Anxia had a plan, and it was perfect to the point she would create a record to be the first winner in this game.
But her plan would be vain if those men didnât ask their wives to dance.
âXiao Xia, what if we approach them first?â
âGood idea.â
They walked through the crowd of guests and approached their husbandsâonly they needed to figure out which one was the correct husband.
âAnxia, Michele. We were wondering when you would come here.â
Anxia watched the expression of one of the twins, wonderingâwas it Raymond who was talking to them just now? After all, Richard would always call her âXia Xiaâ instead of âAnxia.â
âAnxia, I believe this is the first time youâve come to a ball like this? What is your first impression?â
While Anxia was sure that the first person to speak would be Raymond, the other twin proved her wrong with the same tone and the same way of calling.
Had Richard ever spoken this politely? His tone even resembled Raymondâsâor it was the other way aroundâAnxia felt her head spinning.
âRei? I donât know which one of you is my hubby, but... how could you speak so politely? Are you mimicking Brother Richard?â
âIsnât it the other way around? Iâve never heard Richard speak in such a polite tone.â Anxia was more confused than ever.
âThat is not true. Raymond has never spoken formally like this to me..â
Michele and Anxia looked at each other for a few seconds before they both gasped as they looked at their husbands.
âYou guys⦠are you pretending to be someone else?â
The twins flashed big smiles filled with the same pride and shining eyes.
âAre you that happy? Donât you mind seeing your sister feeling sad? She hasnât touched her favorite cake since we came into this hall.â Anxia grumbled without stopping watching the twin brothersâ expressions.
She just needed a hint, no matter how small it wasâas long as the two showed different expressions, Anxia could guess the answer she was looking for.
Butâ¦
The moment they heard their sisterâs name come out of her mouth, they simultaneously cast their eyes to the opposite side to look for their sisterâs figure. The brothers didnât show any expression, and the two had no significant difference, making Anxia want to grab her husbandâs hair ... of course, she couldnât do it as she didnât know which one her husband was.
Although they both tried to keep their younger sister away from Andrew, at least they didnât have to play this game in front of their wives seriously!
âDaddy!â
Reflexively, the twins and their wives eyes turned to the girl running towards them. Anxiaâs hopes soared when she saw her daughter coming towards them. She remembered that her daughter could always distinguish Richardâs and Raymondâs photos whenever the child looked at old albums at Meisyaâs house.
Can Lori tell the difference between the two?
