Cam's POV
It has been hell. Watching my best friend literally ball her eyes out and writhe in heartbreak is a sight that has left my mood dampened for the past two days. I cannot say I feel her pain but I can imagine it. I mean, I can imagine how it would feel like if Lucas ever cheats on me like that.
I would never forgive him.
To think of him with someone else is just something I can't bring myself to reverie. He should better not hurt me like this cause I honestly don't know what I'd do.
"Ash you need to eat something..." I try convincing her for the umpteenth time since I arrived today. It has been like this ever since that night. She'd just take one spoon of food and that was all, no matter what she won't add another.
I think she listens because she finally wipes her tears as a look of determination crosses her face briefly. She takes the tray from my hand, picking up the fork, she digs it into the pasta before her, fetches some and raises it to her lips. It takes her a while before opening up and eating it. Her eyes glosses up, I think she remembered again everything that happened that night. I watch as she battles with the tears so it doesn't fall.
Although it takes a long while, she manages to finish everything in the plate, only leaving a little.
"Wow!" I clapped for her. "Do you want more?"
Omg! She smiled and then shook her head. "I want ice cream."
"Okay, I'll ask Lucas to get some, will be right back ." At this point, I was already at the door.
"I want to come." She says.
"Really?" I blink back and forth. She wants to go out, finally! Yay!
"Yeah." Progress baby, progress.
"Okay. Let me inform Lucas. I'm sure he'd love to take us."
She nods her head.
With the widest of smiles on my face, I rush to Lucas' room. I open the door without knocking- that's how ecstatic I am, besides he is my boyfriend so bleh!- he was sprawled on the bed watching Tv. I run to him and climb on top him, straddling him. He looked quite taken aback, but whatever. With my smile still in place, I hug him and peck both his cheeks before pulling away .
His eyes lit up, I bet he was enjoying all the love I was giving him right now, "I see you're in a great mood. What's up?"
"Ash wants to go out for ice cream."
He was surprised, "You're kidding."
"No, I'm not."
He grins, "She really said that?"
"Yeah!"
"That's good news then. What are we waiting for? Let's go." I climb off him.
_
"I texted Devi to join us, hope you guys don't mind." Ash says, after texting on her phone.
"We don't." Lucas and I say at the same time.
"You guys can order, I'll wait till he comes before I order mine."
"Okay," Lucas says and I pinch his thigh. He's supposed to be nicer today.
"Ouch, what was.." He starts but i shoots him a glare that shuts him up.
I smile at her re-assuringly, "We'll wait for him as well," i turn to Lucas, "right?"
"Yeah!"
Ash nods her head and sits still, staring into space. Busying her would take off her mind on the recent happenings. Right!
"Okay, so let's play a game. Anyone who looses will have to pay for our bills."
Ash nods. "Sure." Lucas utters.
"So... I'll ask personal questions about myself that I think you both shouldn't know but anyways if you get it right voila."
"Shoot." Lucas smirks.
"What is the colour of the bra I'm wearing today?"
Lucas seemed to choke, his ear tinged pink whilst Ash seemed unfazed. "Red." She answers says, "B..black." Lucas utters lowly.
"Both of you are wrong. When was the last time I kissed?"
Ash immediately looked at me wearing a 'How do you expect me to know?' look, I smile. It's working.
Lucas smirks. I knew exactly what he was thinking but playing around a bit wouldn't hurt, would it?
He mentions, "Friday," whilst Ash says, "Today."
I laugh, "It's actually today. You are indeed my bestest friend." A surprised look was on her face, I bet she just said anything because she had to answer yet managed to get it correct. "High five." I lift my palm in the air and she claps hers on mine, the corners of her lips lifting into a small smile.
Well, Lucas, on the other hand was totally confused. Friday was the day he kissed me at the party. That's right. But you do remember I pecked his cheeks today, actually not long ago, and a peck is a type of kiss am I right? A swift kiss. He didn't consider it.
"What is my middle name?"
"Lyndsey." Ash says without a beat, Lucas on the other hand was fumbling.
"You don't know your girlfriends' middle name?" Ash looks at Lucas, a horrified look on her face, a teasing smile on her lips.
"Uh, i-t's not like she told me?"
I gasp dramatically, "You d-i-d n-o-t just say that."
He grabs my hands, "Baby, I'm sorry," and does a silly puppy dog look, "for not knowing your middle name."
"Wise man." Ash comments and I smile.
"It's okay, I forgive you. Let's con..." I didn't get to end my sentence because another voice interrupts me.
I raise my head and it was that guy. What's his name?
"Devi." Ash calls his name. Oh so that's it.
"Hi," he says to the rest of us before sitting. Hi, Lucas and I say back.
"How are you?" He asks Ashley.
"Fine." She mutters, lowering her head a bit, so obvious she was trying to avoid the topic. "We were actually waiting for you, now that you're here, I think we can order."
__
Devi, is actually a cool guy to be with. He's funny, very jovial. He would definitely pass for a comedian.
We were done having our ice cream and now he walking us to the car. "It was nice having you join us." I say and Lucas makes a noise in his throat.
"Yeah, thanks." Ash says.
"I'm glad I did, I enjoyed making you laugh." He grins.
Ashley almost tripped but Devi's hand was fast enough to hold here in place.
"Easy tiger." He says and I laugh.
"She's definitely not a tiger, if anything she's a chicken."
He laughs, "She has the potentials though to be a tigress." He winks at her and she smiles.
I don't know how and when, it happened so fast. Within seconds his hand was ripped off Ash' body by an angry looking Grayson. I have never seen him like the way he looked at the moment, eyes burning with rage and there was something off about him. He looked so cold.
What was he doing here anyways.
Without asking anything, he punches Devi.
We all gasp and Ashley quickly rushes to Devi's side, "Oh my gosh, are you hurt?" She asks him.
"I'm fine." It takes time for him to utter.
Ash switches her gaze to Grayson, a glare on her face. "What the heck is wrong with you, why would you hit him?"
He was reeking of jealousy as his chest heaved up and down. "So you break up with me and this..." he points to Devi, a flash of hurt in his eyes.
"We're no longer together Gray, nothing about me should concern you. Leave me alone!"
"I can't..." he halts as he stares at her with an intensity, "Fine." And with that he leaves.
Well that wasn't weird at all. I think something is wrong. Or I'm just paranoid. Definitely paranoid.
"I'm so sorry, it's all my fault." Ash says to Devi.
"It's okay, I'm fine."
"No, it's not okay." She snaps.
We all stare at her, quite shocked at her tone.
When she realizes what she just did, "I just want to go home." Her lips wobble as tears collect in her eyes. We were close to the car so she swiftly walks toward it.
I was about to say something but he beats me to it.
"It's okay, I understand. I know she didn't mean that. She's still hurting. I think you guys should take her home."
"Thanks." I say.
"It's nothing."
Immediately we get home, she runs to her room and locks it. Her seeing Grayson has made futile the little progress she'd made to smile rather than lock herself inside the room and cry. Now, that's exactly what she's going to continue doing, crying. I honestly hope she doesn't get sick from all the constant crying.
Before I left, her parents asked me what was up with their daughter. I had no option than to tell them the truth. I could see the concern in their eyes after I told them.
