I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else - C.S Lewis

Ashley's POV

Why today of all days? The pain was hitting me in different places, a girl's pain. It was just too much to handle that Cam had to ask for permission from the principal so she could take me home after I stayed at the school clinic for a while.

Grayson had worry etched on his face as we left them to continue with lunch. I didn't have it in me to tell him what was actually wrong. I mean how was I to put, say, 'Hey, I'm on my period and the abdominal pain is crazy, sheesh."

Well, that sounds... eew and just No No. I have some dignity, thank you very much. But one thing I'm certain of is that Cam assured him that I was okay, yet that didn't stop him from blowing up my phone with messages.

I wake after a quite long nap to find a few missed calls and about a dozen messages.

'Hey.'- 4:00pm.

'How are you?'- 4:05pm.

'Are you fine now?'- 4:07pm.

'Are you okay?' – 4:10pm.

'Should I come and see you?'- 4:15pm.

'I'm heading to your place right now.'- 4:20pm.

Wait!! He's c-coming here?

This message was sent twenty minutes ago, he's probably close by now.

No no no, I'm a mess right now, I can NOT see him. He can NOT see me in this state of mine.

"I'm fine now, I'm okay now." I quickly text.

"I'm here." A reply text comes through immediately.

No shit sherlock!

Quickly rushing out of bed, I look into my mirror.

Goodness! I look and feel like crap.

Wait I could pretend to still be asleep. Nooo, I just texted him a while ago, Ash, how believable!

What to do?

What to do?

_ _

Phew!

Sighs!

Guess what happened? My parents probably thought I was still asleep and unwell, hence he didn't get to see me. I guess they made small conversation with him before he left, I could hear them all the way from my room, their laughter and all. I so love my parents, they're literal life savers. When everywhere was calm and devoid of laughter, I received a text from him saying he just left my house and he hoping I get better. I decided that I would reply to that tomorrow. Just as I was about to put my phone away, a message comes through, I check to find it was from Devi.

Oh no, I forgot all about the ice cream date.

"I'm sorry , won't be able to make it, something came up."

"Are you okay though?"

"Yeah. I'm really sorry, I'll make it up to you."

"No problem."

I get down from the bed and walk to the bathroom. I enter and take a long hot shower. By the time I was out, the pain seemed to have subsided. After putting on some pajamas, I descend to the kitchen to get myself some warm chocolate drink. Upon arrival, Mom was busy singing whilst doing the dishes. She turns towards me almost like she felt my presence and when her gaze lands on me, she drops the half washed plate in the sink, cleans her hand with a napkin and comes to me.

"My baby," She cups my cheek, "how are you doing?"

"I'm okay, Mom." I smile.

"Is your tummy okay, now?"

I nod my head. "A bit."

"Do you want anything?"

"Yeah, I came to get myself some chocolate drink."

"I want you to go back to your room and relax, I'll prepare it for you. Go go go." She literally pushes me out of the kitchen.

A minute or so after I was comfily sprawled on the bed, a knock interrupts my thoughts as I was duvet-covered, half up.

"Come in." I was about to say but my statement doesn't end when the door opens and Dylan gingerly enters, a tray in his hand.

"Hey sis," He walks toward me a smile across his face, "Here's your drink and some cookies." I sit up and take the tray from him.

"Thanks."

He sits at my side on the bed.

"Why are you still here?" I bring the mug to my lips and take a sip of its content.

"Nothing. Just checking in on you."

I pull the mug away from my lips, "I'm not sick. Just.."

"I know, but a certain someone doesn't know. He thinks you're actually sick like sick sick... Maybe you should tell him, the actual deal."

"I've texted him telling that I was fine, that should do it besides you don't expect me to tell him that I'm on my pe-r-i-o-d, do you?" I raise a brow at him.

He laughs, "I can tell him for you if you want."

"Nope."

"Kay." He shrugs standing, "Sure won't tell him." And winks.

"Don't." I warn.

"What?!" He chuckles.

"Don't." I repeat.

"Goodnight." He slams the door behind him.

"Dylan Don't!" I call after him.

"Can't hear you." He yells.

I bring the mug close to my lips and gulp down its content, I pick up one cookie and take a bite. Didn't quite like the taste of it, so I put it aside.

_ _

I woke up today with my abdominal pain kinda still there, lurking in the corners of my tummy so I decided that I couldn't go to school.

I spend the day sleeping and munching on ice cream whilst watching about a dozen episodes of 'Sweet first love'.

I was watching an episode when my door opens and Cam barges in.

"My baby giiiirl." She drawls out, rushing towards me and hugging me tight. "I missed you."

I laugh, "Been away just today and you're already missing me."

She pulls away and pouts, "School was hell without and that bitch.."

"Which bitch?"

"Uh! Forget about it, it's nothing."

I frown in confusion but say, "Okay," anyways.

"So how're you doing?" She probes.

"I'm better."

"That means you'll come back to school? You've got to come back."

"I will, I'm definitely coming back to school tomorrow."

"Thank goodness!", she sighs.

I smile, "Aha, Lest I forget, is there something going on with you and Lucas?"

"No! Why're you asking. We're okay, we're fine."

"Mmh-mmh?"

"Yeah."

"You guys are acting different, offlate. Like distant, kinda?"

"We are?" she asks.

I raise a brow, "You haven't realised? And you say you guys are okay?"

"Well, I haven't. And yes we are."

"I see. You know, he didn't even check up on me yesterday like he'd usually do so I imagined thought you guys had a fight or something. Dylan mentioned something about him being locked up in his room, with music on throughout till late in the night."

"Nope, nothing like that. No fight, I have to go."

"So soon?"

"Yeah. See you tomorrow."

"Tomorrow then I guess, Bye!"

Third Person's POV

Cam was in a hurry all of a sudden to leave because Ashley kinda reminded her of her current dilemma. She set her boundary with him, no physical touch but the heaven knows she'd done worse by being distant with him, unresponsive even. Ignoring his messages and not talking to him much. He was going to be home any moment from now and she wouldn't want him to find her here. She quickly rushes downstairs. Without paying much attention, she misses a step and was on the verge of falling but then muscular arms encircles waist to prevent her face from kissing the stairs. Her eyes that were shut waiting for the impact of the fall that never came opens on its accord to see her savior.

Her worst nightmare. Her eyes were wide as saucers, so much for trying to run. She had no escape, she'd have to face him now.

After she was well balanced, she pushes his hands away from her body and stares at him, a glare on her face. She had to put on a façade.

"What do you thing you are you doing?" She yells as her gaze flickers to his hands that were once on her body.

Hurt flashes in his eyes and he looks away jaw tightening. He turns to shoots her a look before walking away, saying nothing.

She felt bad immediately, but the pride in her wouldn't let her go and apologise.

She exits the house.
