It is never too late to be what you might have been - George Eliot.

Third Person's POV

"Remember, stick to the plan", It was a text from Pierson.

"Sure," Cam replied as she entered her car before driving to school.

She gets to school, her stomach churning in nervousness. She really didn't think Pierson's plan was right. Left to her alone she wouldn't want to go through with it. She was beginning to have cold feet as to what the outcome might turn out to be. But if she doesn't go through with it, it'll look as if she were a wimp just as Pier claimed. She wasn't and she would prove to him just that.

With that courage in mind, a smile plastered on her face, she leaned against her, awaiting the arrival of Pierson. A few seconds later, Pierson's car pulls up close to hers.

He gets out and walks to her.

"Good morning, sunshine." He grins, set of white teeth on full display.

"Morning." She replies. She raises a brow at him. "You're extremely bubbly and exuberant this morning. May I know why?"

"Well, no peculiar reason. It's just...."

She chuckles as she shakes her head in disappointment, "The plan! You're all excited because of the plan."

He smirks and wipes invisible dust off his shirt, "You know me too well. Stuff like this makes me happy."

"Shame on you!"

He chuckles, "Happily. Let's get going." He takes her hand in his and starts dragging her. "Today is going to be a long long day."

She lets out a breath.

"Pier..." her voice hinted worry, causing them to come to a halt, "...is this really necessary?", referring to his arm that was now around her shoulders.

"Yah! Come on! Are you backing out already?" He wiggles her brows at her.

Her eyes widen. "I'm not."

"Good."

He drags her all the way to class, his arm still lingering around her shoulder. And when they enter the class, he walks her to her seat.

"Good morning." He greets Ashley who is already in class, attention on them for their grand entry.

"Hey!" she gives Cam the what's going on look before turning his attention to him.

He waits for Cam to take her seat and when she does, he lowers his head and pecks her cheek, the action causing a few gasps from the students. With a cocky smirk displayed on his face, he walks towards his seat. Meanwhile Lucas on the other hand witnessed what happened. His eyes had kept a trail ever since they entered, being so intimate with each other. Their peck, he tried to tell himself was that it was nothing. 'Friends give each other pecks, and it's okay', he reassures himself, yet he doesn't like the way his heart tugs painfully in his chest at the sight of Cam and Pierson together, smiling at each other and being intimate. His heart felt sunk and he knew why. He just couldn't do anything about it. So with all the courage he could master he averts his attention from her, disappointment weighing heavily in his chest. The sight of them together was enough torture, he didn't want to continue living in it.

"Class!" Miss Brooke's voice snaps him out of his broken-pained state. "How was the weekend for you?"

"Boring!" One girl yells.

"Amazing," Another boy says.

"Good! Tiring! Interesting! Phenomenal!", were other replies coming from the students.

Miss Brooke's lips lift into a smile, "Well however bad it was for you, I'm certain it would be good next time and however amazing it was, it'll get better."

That did it, it lifted the spirits of the students and they were ready to learn, and imbibe knowledge. All ready and smiling, they dive right into the lesson for the day.

_

It was break time. Cam and Ashley are in the cafeteria, sitting around a table, about to have some cookies when Grayson rounds the table and takes a seat.

Ashley who had her head bowed low, raised it because of the new presence she felt.

He smiles at her, 'Hi!', he says when their eyes connect.

"Grayson!" Cam acknowledges whilst Ash mutters a "Hi!", cheeks tinging pink involuntarily.

Cam smiles knowingly, "What brought you here? Are you here to join us?" She wiggles her brows childishly at him.

Immediately, his cheeks tinge scarlet, "No! Not really! I brought this for you." He pulled up whatever he was holding from under the table. It's shocking how they didn't even see it. He hands it to Ashley. She stretches her hands and takes it from his hand, wondering what might be wrapped nicely in the paper bag.

"Thanks!" She mutters out of breath, from surprise, and he nods his head and gets up about to leave.

"What's in it?" Cam asks, the question directed to him.

"Um..." he scratches the back of his neck.

Ashley cuts him off, "Pay no attention to her, you can go." Cam pouts and he sighs grateful to Ashley for saving him. Whatever was wrapped inside the paper bag, he wanted it to be a surprise. He wanted to put a smile on her face.

"See you later." He waves both of them before stepping out of his seat and leaving the Cafeteria.

When he leaves, "Open it, open it." Cam pressures.

"Calm down, will you?"

"Oh no, I won't. Just open it already."

"Okay." She opens it and pulls out doughnuts. Just exactly her preferred choice.

"Omg!" Cam squeals, "He got you your favorite. He's so cute."

Ash keeps batting her eyes in surprise. He got her her favorite pastry. He actually got her doughnuts.

"D-did y-you tell him?" She asks.

"Tell him what?" Cam frowns, confusion marring her features.

"That they're my favorite?"

She raises her hands, "I didn't. I promise."

This is so overwhelming, she chants in her head. He went out of his way to get me my favorites. Oh my gosh! Chocolate-filled doughnuts. Goodness!, Can I like him any less? She pouts.

Wait, what?

Did she just admit that she liked him?

No! No! No! wait! She does?

"Oh my!" She exclaims.

"What?!" Cam motions with her hand.

"I do!" She mutters.

"You do! I don't understand. What do you mean?"

"I just realized, I like him." She motions her head towards the Cafeteria door.

Cam blinks in understanding, "You like him." She just needed to be sure, "Wait, you mean you like Grayson." When it gets to the Grayson part, she lowers her voice and whispers very low.

Ashley nods her head. "I think I do."

"No, you have to be very sure. Do you?" Ashley takes a second and another in thought, "Oh, girl. You're a confused baby."

"I'm sure, I do, but..." Ashley trails.

"You do!" She sighs, "That's all that matters. The fact that you've realized you like him. That's more than enough. Don't think about anything else. Just relish your goodies. He went out of his way to get it for you, anyway. He's so cute and caring and gentle, I'm getting so emotional right now. Wish I would find a boyfriend as caring." She pats underneath her eyes, cleaning invisible tears.

Ashley chuckles, blushing furiously.

"I'm blabbing right?" Cam pouts.

"No, you're not."

"And she's lying to me."

"I'm not."

"Well....." Cam takes a bite, "they're so delicious." She moans.

Ash smiles, "They are, and I love them." She takes a bite.

Cam clears her throat, "Are you by any means trying to say that you love him?"

"Cam!"

She lifts her hands in mock surrender, a grin on her face. "Just kidding."

"Better be."

Ashley's POV

Been kinda waiting for this day. It's the last day of school before we go for the Christmas break. The school organized a little get-together kinda event for everyone before we break. You could call it a pre-Christmas party for every student. Just hang out, eat, chill dance, and whatever happens. At this event, most teachers aren't present, just a few of them, who are around, in case anything of sorts happens.

The event would be starting in an hour's time. Yet here I am in my room, not knowing what to wear or what to do with my ginger locks.

'Code Red', I text Cam.

Just immediately, a response comes through.

'I knew you would do this. Don't worry I've got you covered. I'll be there in five.'

'Hihi... it's kinda not my fault. Will be waiting.'- I text back.

I lay on my bed, face towards the ceiling when I heard a doorbell ring, from downstairs.

Why is Cam not entering but ringing the doorbell instead?

Is she a stranger in this house? No! so why ring the doorbell and remain there?

I get down from the bed and walk out my door. Heading for the main door, I skip a few stairs, just to get to the door. And when I do, I open it, ready enough to give her a piece of my mind for acting like a stranger.

"Really?! Y..." I start, but stop when I realize it isn't Cam.

Goodness, what a surprise! The rhythmic beatings in my chest can even attest to the fact that I am indeed surprised.
