Chapter 3: CHAPTER 2

"Be yourself, everyone else is already taken."- Oscar Wilde.

Ashley's POV

The day went by faster than I thought it would, within the twinkling of an eye school was over. I got out of the school only to find Dylan and a blonde girl leaning against his car.

He said something funny I guess, and she giggled, a loud one. I strode towards them only to realize that it was none other than Nicole Angelo, one of the school's popular girls.

I cleared my throat to get their attention since it seemed they were lost in their conversation.

"Hey, sis..." Dylan utters once his eyes land on me, he motions his hands towards her "Ashley this is Nicole, Nicole meets my little sister, Ashley."

"Oh hey, so you're the little sis?"

Little sis?!. Oh..I am.

"Um....y-yeah," I mutter.

After the little encounter, I stand there, lost in thought. Why would a popular girl speak to an unpopular girl like me? Well...it does look like she doesn't like me. She's speaking to me just because my brother introduced both of us, right?

Right!!!

I leave them be and make my way over to the car, the backdoor, I open it and make myself comfy in it. I pick up my phone and plug in my earphones.

I listen to a couple of songs before Dylan finally blesses me with his presence, he puts on his seatbelt and turns to face me, his lips start to move but since my ears are busy I don't quite fathom what he's trying to say so I pause my music and take out the earphones.

"Huh?!!" I say.

"Taking the back seat again. What's up with you and taking the back seat?" Dylan asks while knowing fully well that I won't budge. This case isn't arguable. I just don't like the front seat especially when it's Dylan who's driving the car.

"Always taking the driver's seat.." I huff in annoyance.

"Gosh! Ash, you know I need to drive right?" He says chuckling lightly.

"But I can also drive, you know that yet you don't want me to," I say crossing my arms over my chest.

"I'm just being obedient here, I don't want us to get killed with your crazy driving skills," Dylan says laughing.

"Whatever, just let me be where I am in peace," I say, totally irritated at the fact that I'm not allowed to drive.

With these amazing skills, who wouldn't want me to drive their car? Huh?!!

I go back to listening to my music and Dylan sets the car in ignition. After a twenty-minute drive we finally get home, I couldn't help but squeal at the thought of doughnuts. Just thinking about it made me drool. Mouth-watering doughnuts... Ouuh! Can't wait.

"Mum.." I call out when I open the door and enter the house "..mum!!" I yell out. No response.

"I think she's not back yet," Dylan says from behind and moves past me for the stairs.

"I guess!!." I trail behind him as he climbs the stairs. He walks straight into his room and I enter mine. I sigh and lay on my bed.

Ping !!!

"You home already?" I open my phone to see Cam's text message.

"Yeah. What of you?" I reply.

"I'm home too," she replies back.

"Ohk," I reply and put my phone away.

I changed into comfy clothes and got to the assignment I was given. I head downstairs, and when I do, someone opens the door, and Mum's face appears.

"Mom, you're back," I exclaim giddily.

"Yeah, baby, how was your day at school?" Mum hugs me.

"It was okay ....just a tad boring." I pinch my thumb and index fingers together to indicate how little.

Mum chuckles at that and I couldn't help but smile.

"I hope you brought my specialty." I bat my eyelashes in hopes that she actually did.

Her eyes widen "Oh no!"

So she didn't?

"Mom, you're kidding, you brought me doughnuts, right?" my smile falters.

How come?... She never forgets.

She doesn't answer but rather she places her palm on her forehead and sighs.

"Don't worry it's okay." I give her a sad smile. I mean, there I was drooling over doughnuts, and now?, Ugh!! I feel like crying.

Mum starts giggling and I look at her in a 'what's going on' manner. "Of course, I brought you your doughnuts, baby. How could I forget something like this?" she smiles knowingly as she stretches her hand into her bag and brings out my doughnuts.

I stood there in shock at the fact that my mum actually played me, my, she could definitely pass for an actress.

The smile returns to my face as I take my doughnuts out of her hand and crush her into a hug.

"Thank you!!" I giggle.

I release her from the hug and I rush to the dining table to munch on my doughnuts.

"Mmmm, so delicieux." I close my eyes, relishing the taste of the heavenly made doughnuts.

"My!, what can be compared to the taste of this....nothing. I repeat

N- O-T-H-I-N-G. Absolutely Nothing!!"

"Are you sure?" mum says from behind.

"More than anything," I say with certainty.

"Love is way better," she mumbles under her breath, but I hear it anyway.

"Mom... pleeeaaassse." she knows how pessimistic I am about love.

"What, hun?" she feigns innocence.

"Please don't bring this up, you know my thoughts on it."

"Don't you want to get married someday?" she asks.

"I don't know mum, I honestly don't know. I don't think I will find someone to love me like Dad loves you. Not everyone's that lucky when it comes to love. I probably won't be, besides it's scary."

"You will definitely find someone to love you, I know for sure that there's nothing like being lucky in love. Your better half is out there, he's not here yet doesn't mean he isn't out there. And about it being scary, that's what makes it more fun." She says with determination.

"Mmmmm...." I say and have the final bite of my heavenly-made specialty.

Ding !! Dong!!

"I'll get that.." I say to Mum and rush towards the door.

I open the door, only to be hugged by someone.

"What are you doing here?" I say as I pull back from the hug.

"I miss you.." she says.

"Cam...." I warn. She definitely wants something.

"I'm telling the truth, I promise." she bats her lashes at me.

I shoot her a glare, "What do you want?" I ask, a knowing look on my face.

"Okay fine, I want to get an ice cream and I want you to go with me. Please go with me, Pretty pleeeaaassse." she batts her lashes some more.

Can I say no? Definitely not.

"Fine." I smile.

"Yaaay!!, you're the best." she squeals before giving me a peck on my cheek.

"Eeeew!, get away from me." I chuckle.

"You love me too..." she grins.

"Yeah, yeah... whatever." I roll my eyes.
