Alpha On The Hunt Chapter 29 âIf youâre getting callouses, maybe you are doing it wrong. Pretty sure youâre supposed to stroke it, not rub the skin off it.â I chuckle.
âWell, since youâre such an expert, maybe you should give me a demonstration. I might learn a few things.â my face heats at his words while his eyes flicker, turning black.
âThatâs not what I meant.â
âAre you sure? Youâre the one giving me a lesson on it. Do you offer tutoring? I could use a few hands-
on lessons. My cock would be most appreciative of having an experienced teacher for Mrs. Palmer and her five daughters. Maybe you could offer Oral tutoring?â
Lexa snickers in my head while my cheeks warm. âI donât mind paying, could do a clean swap, your hand for my fingers, tongue for your lips?â he laughs.
âI am about to hang up now!â I tell him.
âFine, fine, I will stop, but the offer still stands.â I shake my head at him and go to hang up on him.
âDonât hang up! I will behave⦠promise. As much as I love hearing about you wanting to get your hands on me, you need to tell me what youâre doing about your father,â he chuckles.
âI need to find evidence of his dealings with Thomas, for one. I know they used to work together. When I reported Thomas, he deleted files that he told me were business deal- ings he had with Thomas, but he didnât want to get dragged into the mess.â
âWhat was in the files?â
âI donât know, but I know they linked to the rubbish re- moval service my father used to own. I never questioned him about it, but now Iâm wondering if I should have. Dad sold the business a year later.â
âTo Thomas?â Axton asks.
âNo one of the smaller packs. I canât remember which one, but I know my dad freaked out when I started looking into Thomas. But after Marcus dropped that paperwork off, I donât think I will have time to dig it up.â I tell him.
So when are you going to challenge him then? Have you told your mother yet?â
âNot yet; I will soon.â I chew my bottom lip. Just the thought of challenging him makes me nervous because I know what a lethal beast he can be.
âYouâll be fine. Iâll be there, and if I think he is getting the upper hand, I will jump inâ¦.Or you could let me do it.â
âBut then it will be your pack!â I remind him. Axton shrugs.
âOurs, I have no intention of taking it from you, but I also donât like the idea of him hurting you,â Axton tells me.
âWe are mates, Elena. I want you as my mate, by my side, not on opposite sides. What are you scared of? Just me taking your pack. I have told you I wonât.â I shake my head. There is more to it than that he just refuses to understand.
âItâs the same argument over and over again with you. I get that you have your reasons, but it doesnât change the fact that I am your mate! You have to give in, eventually.â
âI wonât lose my motherâs pack, not once I finally get it back. We just need to wait for Luke-â
âI am not waiting for Luke to turn 18 for you to mark me, Lena!â
âThen what do you suggest? I donât trust you not to take my pack!â
âHow can I build your trust when you trust me with noth- ing? I canât earn it back when you never give me a damn chance to!â I sigh, knowing it is going to turn into an argu- ment. Axton curses and shakes his head before he presses his lips into a thin line.
âI donât know how else to fix this!â
âYou canât. Weâll just deal with it as it comes, but for now we-â
âIâve already offered to sign the pack over to you. I donât know what else I can offer.â
âI donât want anything from you, Axton.â
âAnd I just want you, not your damn pack!â he snaps be- fore he exhales and mutters something I donât hear.
âI donât want to argue. Just think about it.â He sighs, mov- ing around, and I see him walking through the house.
âSo what did Sondra say?â He asks, and I chew my lip, wondering if he knows his mother had a twin sister.
âElena?â He asks, walking into some room when he sits down.
âI donât want to upset you,â I admit. Axton sighs, and I no- tice he is in bed when he leans against the headboard.
âSo she told you about your father and how she knows mine?â
âNot about my father, but she mentioned your mother,â I tell him, and his face changes on the screen, and all I see are his tattooed shoulders and face showing he sat up.
âMy mother? What did she say?â
âThat your mother was sold to your father to settle a debt, and that your father claimed she was his mate?â Axton sighs.
âYeah, my mother never spoke of her father. I knew her fa- ther sold her to mine when she was a teenager, and they are mates; he was just a shitty one. She didnât realize until she was of age that what he claimed was true.â He shrugs.
âDid you know she was a twin?â Axtonâs brows furrow.
âShe was an only child. Her mother died giving birth to her. Well, thatâs what my father told me.â I shake my head, re- laying everything. Axton seems shocked and confused. He lets me speak, barely adding anything until Iâm done when he asks the one question I hoped he wouldnât.
âI still donât understand how Sondra knows all this. I know she knows Marco, but she is human. And why didnât Marco ever say anything to me?â He growls.
âProbably because he was protecting his brother,â I told him reluctantly.
âFloyd?â I nod my head, pausing.
âSo it is the same person. Floyd was her father.â
âYou were right. Floyd was her father and Sondraâs hus- band, your grandfather. She admitted he was a werewolf. Itâs why Sondra helped us, because she couldnât save Petra, Mary, or your mother, Phaedra.â
Axton grits his teeth.
