Chapter 122 An Evil Glare âFinish your breakfast quickly. We need to leave soon. Iâve called Bradley, but he isnât here yet. Did he oversleep?â
Just as Arissa picked up her phone, the doorbell rang.
The four children looked at each other, wondering if they needed to hide themselves again.
Arissa let them continue eating.
She rushed to the door and looked through the peephole. Seeing it was just Bradley, she heaved a sigh of relief.
âItâs Mr. Hinton, everyone. Finish your breakfast quickly!â She opened the door and let Bradley in.
The corner of her lips quirked into a smile. âI thought you overslept.â
Bradley grinned good-naturedly. âI stayed up all night at an Internet café playing video games, so I never slept. It just slipped my mind.â
Arissa shook her head, smiling inwardly. She extended her hand to accept her new car keys from him.
âI already placed all the documents you need in the car, so donât worry about it,â said Bradley. âIâll come over later to help register your license plate number.â
âOh, thank you!â Arissa placed a hand on Bradleyâs shoulder. âHave you had breakfast yet?â
Bradley laughed and made a beeline for the dining room. âNope!â
Arissa checked the time. They were cutting it close.
She saw that there were still two servings of oatmeal left, so she let Bradley have one bowl for himself. âEat up and rest. Iâll be leaving soon, so just make yourself at home.â
âAlright, Boss.â
Bradley leaned toward the children. âI suppose the four of you ate everything?â he teased.
âNo, it was Daddy!â Jesse replied.
Zachary, Oliver and Jasper nodded fervently.
âYeah! Daddy and Gavin came here to eat.â
Hearing this surprised Bradley. âDid you meet them?â
The children both shook and nodded their heads.
Bradley laughed. âWhat are you trying to say?â
âWe didnât meet them here. But we saw Daddy through the surveillance cameras!â Zachary explained brightly.
Bradley saw that Arissa was approaching and hastily told them to get back to their breakfast.
âI saw Gavin and Benjamin downstairs while I was coming up, Boss,â Bradley informed her while he ate.
Arissa smiled. It was as she had guessed. âThey came over for breakfast.â
âGavin even waved to me. He recognized me!â Bradley smiled. âBut that Benjamin gave me such a cold shoulder.â
Arissa was bemused.
Benjamin certainly gave most people a frightening first impression.
He appeared cold, intimidating, and expressionless.
âIs everyone ready?â Arissa looked to her children.
Zachary, Jasper, Oliver, and Jesse wiped their mouths and said in unison, âReady!â
She nodded, âGet your schoolbags, then. We need to leave now, or Mommyâs going to be late to work.â
The four children said their goodbyes to Bradley and rushed off to get their bags.
âHow about you go straight to work while I send them to school?â Bradley suggested.
âWe can all go together. Itâs along the way, anyway. Just eat and rest up. The circles under your eyes are so dark!â Arissa pointed them out, smiling.
Bradley chuckled.
âEnough video games!â she admonished.

âBye, Mr. Hinton!â
âBye, kids!â Bradley waved to them, beaming.
Arissa opened the door. âCome on!â
They hurried outside.
Arissa brought them down the stairs, bundled them into the car, and started driving to their school.
The four children were excited to be in the new car and chattered all the way there.
Arissa dropped them off at the school with a smile on her lips.
She arrived at the office with only twenty seconds to spare.
Arissa sighed with relief, knowing that she wasnât late.
Unbeknownst to her, someone was shooting her an evil glare with dark and murderous intent.
