We never finished the tour of the castle, but that didn’t matter. There was plenty of time to get Raine acquainted with the layout, the staff and her duties. Her trust and loyalty to me was of greater importance to me. Then there was her wolf. I’ve never come across an Omega wolf that was this strong. It made me wonder. I had to find out

more about Raine.

loves were focused on us as we walked into the dining room with Raine holding onto my arm. The light touch

of her hand had my wolf purring in my head and kept him calm. Mostly. I wanted to keep Raine away from my viperous brother and his mate, but that would be unfair to her to keep her all to myself. I vowed to protect her at all times from any veiled threat from their side, as much as possible. Although she had to learn for herself what an underhanded wolf my brother was. That I could only warn her about.

They waited for us to be seated at the head of the table before they sat. I had a mind to keep them waiting longer, but I knew Raine was hungry and underfed, so I didn’t delay.

‘Finally.” Sorin remarked, picking up his glass to toast us. “Here’s to your health, your Majesties. We’re glad you could join us.”

“We need to eat. Save the formalities, Sorin.” I nodded and the se rvants began serving the food.

I noticed Raine’s eyes grew wide because of the amount of food there was on the table. She stopped the se rvant from piling her plate.

“This is way too much.”

“You’ll need your strength to deal with my brother, Raine. He needs to fatten you up so you can bear him a strong son.” Sorin smirked at her, and I had the burning desire to slap him into next year. I hated the way he looked at her.

“Eat what you are able to.” I told her, my anger growing at the thought that the drunken ba stard starved her. She deserved to be treated with love and respect.

“Are we having the wedding feast soon?” Helen asked, “I would love to help with the preparations. After all, we’re going to be sisters-in-law.”

Raine looked at me and I felt her uncertainty. I did tell her to stay clear of them, but she did need help. I didn’t have time to deal with the wedding.

“Fine.” I said, swallowing my food down with a large gulp of wine. “Make it happen within a week. The steward will help you.”

Helen clapped her hands enthusiastically, “Oh, this is going to be so much fun, Raine. I can’t wait to get started.”

“Thank you, your Highness.” Raine said quietly.

“Helen! Her name is Helen to you.” I snapped and immediately regretted it, because she cringed under my harsh voice, pushing her plate forward. She hardly ate.

“Sorry, thank you, Helen.” She said without raising her head.

A heavy silence descended on the room. I placed my hand on her thigh as an apology for my outburst and felt her muscle stiffen under my palm.

“Amaris, have you decided on a place to go for your honeymoon?” Sorin lay back in his chair, apparently unaffected by the tension. “And who is to be in charge when you’re gone?”

Of course, he wanted to be in charge, and it was within his rights to be, but I didn’t want him to be. I hadn’t thought about a honeymoon. Why was it even necessary?

“Why would we need to go anywhere?” I glanced at Raine’s flushed face and realized she might want to spend time alone with me away from the castle and maybe it would be good for us. “I’ll think about it.”

I left Raine alone in our bedroom to meet Greyson. There was still unresolved matters with the Sickle Moon and Blood Fang packs. If I were to go away to the g ods know where on honeymoon, I would put the kingdom at risk. Who knows what could happen with Sorin in charge?

“What do you have for me, Greyson?” I met him outside at the training grounds. It was better to talk where we

couldn’t be overheard.

“I’m not going to sugarcoat it, your Majesty. There’s been more unrest since you took the Omega as your chosen mate, Sire. The packs are restless.” Greyson sighed, “They are starting to question your ability to rule.”

“I am strong enough for both of us, Greyson. She doesn’t need to be strong she just needs to give me my heir.” 1 wasn’t even angry. I was expecting this.

“I beg to differ, Sire.” Greyson hardly ever questioned my authority. That riled me up.

“What did you say?” I turned on him, my wolf pushing at his boundaries.

Greyson bowed his head. “You’re taking it the wrong way, your Majesty. You and I both know how ruthless the royals can be. She’ll have to be able to stand up to them, and to be honest, she looks timid.”

“Timid! Hah!” He didn’t see her wolf. “There’s something about her, Greyson. I doubt her status as an Omega.”

“No doubt she’ll breed well, your Majesty.” Greyson said and immediately knew he overstepped by talking about my mate like she was some breeder.

I grabbed him by his lapels. “Don’t! Talk about her like that!” I snarled in his face. “I w they want, they will get it.” I threw him down.

“Please Sire, I didn’t mean to offend you. You know I’ve always had your best interest at heart. You are like a son. to me.” The older man held his hands up in surrender and I felt remorse at having dealt with him so roughly.

“Our marriage and her coronation will take place in less than a week’s time. See to it that nothing goes wrong, Greyson. I’m counting on you.” I stomped back to the castle leaving my trusted general at arms on the grass.

I needed Raine, needed to hold her close. My wolf was pacing in my mind, restless and angry and only our mate could calm us down.

“Raine!” I called out. She wasn’t in the bedroom where I’d left her. Panic closed a tight fist over my heart. I’ve never been afraid of anything, but the thought of losing this tiny girl had me losing my mind. She hurried out of the bathroom, and I sighed with relief.

“Your Majesty? Amaris, is something wrong?” She rushed to my side, and I picked her up and held her tightly, inhaling her scent. Her arms hugged my shoulders. My heart stilled its frantic beating.

“No, it’s alright. I thought you were gone.”

“Where would I go to?” Her voice was like velvet in my ears.

I closed my eyes and just held her. I’ve been waiting for her all my life, and nothing will make me give her up.

Even if I have to lose my crown.

Her light touch on my cheek made me open my eyes. “Did something happen? You seem upset.”

I released her and started to undress. “Nothing you need to worry about, Raine.”

I felt her eyes on me as I removed my clothes and I liked that she didn’t turn away.

“Come here. I want you to touch me.” I wanted her to know that I trusted her.

Her eyes flashed golden with her wolf peering out at me. She hesitated.

“Are you afraid of me?” My tone and my body dared her. I held my hands away from my body, letting her feast her eyes on me. My body was in good shape, and I was proud of it.

“No, I am not.” She closed the space between us.

“Then show me.” I waited for her touch, the anticipation loading the air around us. My eyes locked in on her face.

Light as feathers her fingers landed on my chest, tracing the lines of my collar bones, downwards to my breastbone, sending shivers down my spine. All the while I kept my eyes on her face, watching for the quivering of her lips, the slight hitch in her breathing to tell me that she wanted me.

Her thumbs stroked over my hard nipples, and I could hardly steady my breathing. But I didn’t touch her although I ached to do so. Her hands moved down along my ribs, slowly, achingly slow towards my six-pack. The muscles rolled involuntarily under her light touch. She was driving me wild with lust, so much so, I felt sweat beading on my forehead and my di ck stretched towards her. She stopped moving her hands.

She sucked in her lower lip between her teeth and heard her breath catch in her throat. She looked up at me.

“Do you want me to…?” her eyes went to my throbbing di ck.

“Only if you want.” I was not going to force her to suck me off.

She went down on her knees and her hand lightly grasped me.

“I’ve never done this before.” She said, almost apologetically.

“I would be surprised if you did,” I told her, meaning I would surely kill anyone she’d ever done that to.

When her warm mouth took me in, I thought I was dying from the pleasure I felt. My fingers tangled in her silky hair and the more she sucked the harder I tugged. She was good at it, without meaning to.

Panting like I’d run a hundred miles, I stopped her.

“Was it not good?” She looked at me with anxious eyes.

I shook my head, because I was unable to form words for a minute. I pulled her up to my chest, taking her heart to place on my racing heart.

“No, you did good, but…” I took a deep breath, “I need to come inside you.” There was no time to waste, I lifted her onto my desk, scat tering everything that was on it. Her dress was the next to follow the mess on the floor. My fingers pulled her underwear to the side’to insert my fingers, finding her slick with her juices. I smiled into her mouth. She wanted me. My mate wanted me.

She moaned into my mouth. “Take me, Amaris.”
