He was told that they couldnât do business on Friday, so he scheduled to buy the building on Saturday. Junhyuk headed home. After he got there, he took off his mask and looked into the mirror.
After meeting Sungtae, he had spent a lot of money, but that meant that he was getting stronger in the real world.
âItâs a good thing that I met him.â
He had met him because of Eunseo, and Sungtae turned out to be better than expected. If Junhyuk gave him a mask, he would be able to relegate his works to him. Making a company and running that companyâs activities would be Sungtaeâs responsibility.
Junhyuk shook his head lightly. The next day, he would have to go back to the Championsâ Battlefield, and he wanted to relax. This week, he had had a lot to do, so he hadnât had time to practice.
He teleported to the basement and started to train when his burner phone rang. Junhyuk picked it up, and Sarang was on the other side, speaking cheerfully.
âBig brother! You go to the battlefield tomorrow, right?â
âRight. Whatâs going on?â
âI just wanted to hear your voice, so I called.â
âIs that all?â
âNo. Recently, Iâve started taking stray cats or wounded dogs to my house and healing them. And now I can heal two at the same time!â
âWhat?â
âMy power has evolved!â
âReally?! Thatâs amazing!â
She already had a lot of healing power, and now she could heal two people at the same time. That could completely change the flow of battle.
Just like Junhyukâs force field, it was a useful power.
âIâve been too busy lately, but itâs nice that your power has evolved. How did you come to heal stray cats?â
âThe cats just follow me now.â
âTry not to draw too much attention to yourself.â
âAnd I have to spend a lot of money to buy them food.â
âDonât worry about the money. Next time we meet, Iâll give you some more. Donât let the cats follow you around.â
âAre you giving me an allowance?â
âYour power has evolved, so Iâll give you some money.â
âCool! Big brother, I love you!â
âYou are being too loud. Iâm hanging up.â
He wanted to tell her about Sungtae, but it would be better to tell her in person.
âHm. Be safe tomorrow.â
âRight.â
He hung up and focused on his training. Kaljaque wouldnât be there the next day, so it would be easier.
âWhat will they give award me tomorrow?â
Junhyuk had earned a Spatial Bag the last time, and that had been very useful to him. He expected to win and to get a new item for his victory.
âItâs for winners-only.â
His opponents were quite powerful. They would have a hard time winning if it was just two of them. Junhyuk wished they would partner with a new, useful champion and swung his dual swords.
â
Friday, eight oâclock in the morning.
The white light surrounded Junhyuk, and he appeared in the familiar room. He looked around and checked his earnings: 33,440G.
There was a lot of money, and he heard the soft voice.
[Welcome to the Swamp of Despair.]
âI donât need the basic equipment,â he said.
Unlike before, someone heard what he said, and the basic equipment didnât show up. Junhyuk checked on his equipment. He was stronger than ever before and, without Kaljaque, he should win.
Then, he raised his hand and checked on the new ring.
â
Ring of the God of Wind
Attack +5
Attack Speed +10%
The God of Wind controls the wind, and his power is in this ring. It increases attack power slightly and significantly increases attack speed. Attack power increases by five and attack speed increases by 10 percent.
â
âCool!â he shouted.
He hadnât expected the ring to be that effective. He hadnât been sure about obtaining weapons from the real world, but that ring was superior in its effectiveness.
âMaybe I should rob a museum?â
He hadnât been to any museums, but he might find more items in those. He was thinking about it when a kind voice explained a few things to him.
[In the Swamp of Despair, three champions make up one team. By using either or both of two roads, you may attack the enemy. Both roads have watchtowers, so it would be a good idea to not approach them casually.]
He had already fought there, so he understood the explanation better.
[â¦and between those two roads, there is a swamp. In the swamp, there is high-ranking sorcerer. When lend him a hand, he will buff you. It could change the flow of battle, so help him if you can.]
The high-ranking sorcererâs buff was surprising. It was difficult to get the and complete that quest. The enemies were aware of it as well.
[You may exit through the main door.]
Junhyuk stood in front of the door.
[This is the Championsâ Battlefield. You have unlimited revives, but each time you die, you lose 3,000G, so be aware of that.]
He wanted to earn more money to get stronger.
[The reward for victory in the Swamp of Despair will be a Runestone Bag. You may choose one of the highest runestones of each color from the bag. Do your best to win.]
Junhyukâs ears perked up. The highest-quality runestones were very expensive, and they would give three of them to the winner. He had to win no matter what.
Junhyuk pushes door, and the soft voice whispered:
[Champion Junhyuk Lee deployed.]
He walked outside and saw the lizardmen standing there. They were already familiar to him, so he found Aktur and headed to him. Aktur was standing with arms folded, and Junhyuk waved at him.
âYou came!â
âNice to see you!â
Aktur laughed and said, âItâs nice we wonât have Kaljaque, but this new one is late.â
âHe may be late because he is new.â
Junhyuk had also been busy listening to the explanations when he got there the first time.
Akturâs eyes glinted blue, and he said, âAs long as we donât get troll, weâll be fine. Iâm hopeful.â
âRight.â
Junhyuk stood next to Aktur and looked around. He didnât know anything about the new champion and just hoped that the new champion wouldnât be a troublemaker like last time.
A sharp voice echoed behind the lizardmen, âWhy are you blocking my path?!â
The lizardmen were launched in many directions, and only a champion could treat allied lizardmen like that. However, Junhyuk couldnât see his face.
The size of a championâs soul was bigger than that of a minion, but he still couldnât see him. Aktur was curious as well and looked for the new champion. The new championâs appearance was unusual.
The lizardmen made way. The path was cleared, and the champion headed their way. Junhyuk saw him and murmured, âGon?â
He looked like a cartoon! He had a huge head, thick legs and a long tail. He was also entirely red. When he approached, Junhyuk could see that he wasnât even as tall as his waist. The new champion raised his head.
âHow did you know my name?â
Junhyuk, curious, asked, âYour name is Gon?â
âMy name is Gongon. I am a member of Red Dragon Tribe. Where are we?â
âYou didnât hear the explanation?â
âI heard it, but I am a dragon! Why do I have to be in this dump?!â
Junhyuk thought he was the loudmouth-type and looked at him, âThis is the Championsâ Battlefield. Powerful champions come here from many different dimensions to fight.â
âThey must not know about my tribeâs power. Iâm a hatchling, and they brought me here!â
Junhyuk laughed bitterly. Artlan had already told him that dragons were strong, but the battlefield management had captured dragons and use them as buff monsters. Even if the entire Red Dragon Tribe wanted to fight, they couldnât handle the battlefield management.
Junhyuk looked at Gongon and then Aktur and said, âIâm not familiar with this place and I donât have anything to show Gongon. Do you want to go with him?â
Aktur looked at Gongon and said, âIâm not the type of person to teach anyone anything.â
After saying that, he turned around and added, âI will take upper road.â
Junhyuk looked at Gongon and covered his face with his hands. That hatchling didnât know anything, it fighting alongside him gave Junhyuk a headache.
âNothing I can do.â
Junhyuk took a knee and looked into Gongonâs eyes.
âGongon, come with me to the lower road.â
âWhy should I?â
Junhyuk felt like beating him up, but he said calmly, âThere is a reward for winning in the Dimensional Battlefield.â
âA victory reward?â
âDidnât you hear?â
âSomething about runestones. What do you want to do with it?â
âItâs a very nice item that can make you stronger.â
Thinking he could get stronger, Gongonâs tail started wagging, and JUnhyuk smiled.
âIâm not sure, but Iâll tell you what I know. Letâs go.â
âPerhaps.â
Gongon stood next to him, and Junhyuk looked at Aktur as he took fifty lizarmen with him.
âIâll be going.â
âSee you later.â
Aktur looked at Gongon and added, âDo well.â
He left, and Junhyuk took fifty lizardmen with him, and both he and Gongon and started to move.
âWhat are your powers?â Junhyuk asked.
Gongon shook his head.
âPowers?â
âYou must have powers.â
âWait a second.â
Gongon opened his mouth and spewed a jet of flame. It looked like a handheld fan and it covered a distance of twenty meters.
Junhyuk was satisfied with the range, and it could envelop all three enemies within the flame.
Gongon pondered some more and, this time, headbutted a tree next to him. He covered twenty meters in the rush, and the tree broke in half. Then, he shook his body and light emanated from it. The light shifted into a three-meter tall existence.
âWhat is that?â Junhyuk asked.
âItâs a transformation.â
Gongon raised his claw.
âWhen I keep this up, it feels like my body is stronger.â
Junhyuk wasnât sure, but it looked like that power increased Gonâs attack and defense. He couldnât keep it up for a long time, however. After twenty seconds, Gongon looked like a hatchling again.
âI canât keep it up! What is this place?â
Junhyuk raised his hand, and the ivory-colored force field covered Gongonâs body.
Gongon looked at it and asked, âWhat is this?â
âMy power. Itâs a force field and it will protect you.â
When the force field disappeared after ten seconds, Gongon complained, âThis place limits all powers?!â
Junhyuk nodded and said, âI can also teleport.â
He appeared behind Gongon, and the dragon smiled.
âThatâs an interesting power.â
Then, Junhyuk showed him the Spatial Slash. Far away, a tree was sliced in half, and a glint appeared in Gongonâs eyes.
âWhat?! That attack?!â
âIt goes through space to slash the enemy. Itâs my only long range attack.â
âA human that has the ability to cover long distances?â
Junhyuk smiled.
âUntil you familiarize yourself with this place, why donât you listen to me?â
Gongonâs tail tapped Junhyukâs chest.
âI like you. I will trust you for now.â
