From the rearview mirror, Luca glanced at Emmeline and spoke, âMs. Louise, I know it was you all along, even the setup earlier was orchestrated by me and Mr. Adrien. We meant well, but we didnât expect Mr. Abelâs reaction to be so extreme.â
Emmeline replied, âSo you also recognized me. Adrien must have told you.â
Luca nodded, âYes, Mr. Adrien had good intentions this time, otherwise, I wouldnât have collaborated with him.â
âI understand,â Emmeline said, looking down with a hint of sadness.
âYou canât blame Mr. Abel though,â Luca said. âWorryfree of The Adelmar Clan is no joke. Mr. Abel remembers everything about you, but he just doesnât feel any emotional connection. He canât help it.â
âI donât blame him,â Emmeline choked up. âI know Waylon saved Abel back then. If I hadnât survived, Abel would be in the best state he could ever be in.â
âBut the situation is complicated now,â Luca furrowed his brow. âHow are you two going to coexist in the future?â
âI heard from Waylon that the only way to make the cold symptoms return is through heavy exposure,â
Emmeline said hoarsely.
âHeavy exposure?â Luca glanced at Emmeline again through the rearview mirror. âMs. Louise, with someone like you, making Mr. Abel succumb wouldnât be difficult. No man can resist a woman like you.â
âIâll stay by his side like this for a while,â Emmeline said, her eyes downcast. âI believe that his feelings for Emmett are actually his feelings for me. He just accepted Emmett instead of Emmeline.â
âI agree,â Luca said. âOtherwise, Mr. Abel would really be a pervert.â
Soon, they arrived at the Nightfall Cafe. Luca watched as Emmeline pushed open the glass door and went in before stepping on the accelerator and leaving.
He wanted to talk to Sam, but he was afraid that a few words wouldnât be enough.
Luca decided to hold off on talking for now.
âMs. Louise?â Sam turned around from the counter. âNo wonder Mr. Abel called and asked me to prepare lunch for you. Is it really you?â
Emmeline nodded. âYes.â
âBut Ms. Louise,â Sam looked outside. âWhy did you suddenly come back alone? What about Mr.
Abel?â
And where was Luca, who was supposed to be by Mr. Abelâs side?
Emmeline pouted. âI was hurt by that heartless and fickle Abel, so I came back on my own.â
âHurt?â Sam looked concerned.
Sam forgot about Luca and hurried over, grabbing Emmelineâs arm to check, âWhere are you hurt? Let me see! Iâm going to go find Mr. Abel and give him a piece of my mind!â
âHere,â Emmeline pointed to her heart, âItâs an internal injury.â
âEmotional injury?â Sam widened her dark eyes, âThatâs not Mr. Abelâs fault, blame Mr. Waylon!â
âWhat can I do then?â Emmeline sniffled, âShould I cook Waylon and feed him to Abel? Will that cure Worryfree?â
âNo,â Sam shook her head sadly, âMr. Waylon said thereâs no cure for Worryfree. Eating him wonât help.â
âSo what should I do?â Emmeline shrugged helplessly, tears welling up in her eyes.
âLetâs start with a cup of coffee, extra sweet,â Sam said, âThereâs nothing that a cup of coffee canât fix. If that doesnât work, weâll have two cups.â
âSure,â Emmeline sniffled and took a seat in the chair.
After a momentâs thought, she pulled out her phone and sent a message to Benjamin, âCome over and have coffee with me, letâs grab lunch too.â
Benjamin replied immediately, âOn my way.â
Followed by another message, âJanie is coming too.â
Ten minutes later, Benjaminâs Bentley pulled into the parking lot.
Janie and Benjamin got out of the car and walked into the café together.
Emmeline lifted her head from the coffee table and looked at Janie.
Janie was stunned by this stunning âhandsome young man.â
Her eyes widened and she couldnât help but let out a gasp.
