Chapter 414 Iâll Guard Her With My Life Evelyn dismissively waved her hand and said, âYouâre a big girl. Studying isnât important.â
Lizbeth asked, âThen what is?â
Evelyn replied, âFinding yourself a good man, of course.â
Lizbeth fell quiet. The man she liked was Abel Ryker, and so did her sister.
Moreover, Evelyn told her that Abel already had a wife and kids.
It was true. Abelâs wife was none other than Emmeline Louise.
She was her comrade back when they were trapped in the Imperial Palace.
Pouting with her dainty lips, Lizbeth said, âThere is no man that I like right now. Abel already has a wife.
Not to mention, his children are already 4 years old. Iâm not interested in anybody else.â
Taking out her phone and showing Lizbeth the search ad, Evelyn said, âWell, how about this man then?
I think youâll quite like him.â
Lizbeth looked at Adrien and asked, âHim? Who is he? He looks a bit like Abel.â
Evelyn replied, âHeâs Abelâs older cousin, Adrien, and heâs looking for a marriage partner. Not to mention, heâs looking for someone who bears a resemblance to Emmeline. Arenât you the perfect fit then?â
Lizbeth asked, âMe? How?â
Evelyn said, âYeah, you totally look alike with Emmeline. Besides, isnât this the perfect opportunity for you to marry into the Ryker family and be the mistress of a prestigious family?â
Lizbeth shook her head, âBut I donât like Abelâs cousin. I like Abel.â
Evelyn responded, âJust forget about Abel. At most, once you get to know Adrien, youâll get to see Abel more often.â

Lizbeth smiled coldly, âEvelyn, youâre not just using me to try and get close to Abel, are you?â
Evelyn was a little distressed, and said, âWho, me? Abel already has Emmeline. Why would I want to get close to him?â
Lizbeth scoffed, âTheyâre not married, so you still have a chance. Those were your own words.â
ââ¦â Evelyn fell silent.
Twirling her hair, Lizbeth continued, âDonât be mad that I hit the nail on the spot. Tell you what. Iâll go and get to know this Adrien for myself. Who knows? Something good might come out of it.â
Evelyn was ecstatic, âSo youâre agreeing to it then? Adrienâs marriage candidate exhibition is in three days. You sign up now, and Iâll go with you to the exhibition, okay?â
Lizbeth was very outgoing, âYeah sure. You can sign up for me then.â
Evelyn said, âAlright. Iâm sure that Adrien will like you the minute he sees you.â
âAs for you, Iâm assuming youâll just be watching Abel helplessly from the sidelines then?â
ââ¦â
Evelynâs expression darkened as she said grimly, âThatâs alright. Iâm satisfied just getting a few glimpses of him from the crowd.â
Back over at Fifteen Avery Park.
Both Benjamin and Abel had finished their meal, and over the course of it, drank a lot of alcohol.
As a result, the two of them were a little tipsy.
Benjamin narrowed his eyes in a drunken stupor and said, âEmma, after this, Iâll get your dowry ready and send you off with a bang.â
Abel joked in an inebriated manner, âIâm the one whoâs marrying her with a bang. Arenât you envious of me, Benjamin?â
Lizbeth smiled coldly, âEvelyn, youâre not just using me to try and get close to Abel, are you?â
Putting his hands over Abelâs shoulder, Benjamin replied, âOf course I am! Thatâs why you absolutely have to protect Emma and keep her safe from any sort of harm.â
Abel said, âOf course. Emma is my wife. Iâll guard her with my life!â
Benjamin responded, âThen that puts me at ease. Otherwise, Iâll take her back from you before you know it.â
âYou wouldnât!â
âYou want to test me on that?â
Emmeline separated the two of them and said, âOkay break it up! You two have drunk too much. Itâs giving me goosebumps to watch two grown men hugging it out so publicly!â
Benjamin laughed, âAbel and I are two feathers of a flock.â
Abel giggled, âNo, itâs two flocks of a feather.â
Emmeline was feeling a headache coming as she wondered why she had let them drink so much in the first place.
Grabbing on to Benjaminâs arm, Janie said, âMr. Benjamin, let me take you home. Just look at you. You can barely walk straight.â
Benjamin responded, âI can still drink with Abel. We can go three more rounds, no problem!â
With his face flushed red and his eyes barely open, Abel asked, âShould we continue then?â
Clearly displeased, Emmeline chimed in, âOh no you donât. Any more and the two of you will be sleeping on the table.â
Abel said, âAlright, guess that planâs a bust. I donât want to upset my sweet Emma.â
Benjamin agreed, âMe neither.â
