âItâs not difficult,â Benjamin said, âThis is the only way I can miss you. If you take this away from me, thatâs when it will be difficult.â
âBenjamin,â Emmeline says hesitantly, âCan you find a girlfriend? It would make me feel better.â
âEmma,â Benjamin said in a deep vojce, âI will do anything for you except for this one thing. I cannot promise you that.â
âI just donât want you to waste your time on me,â Emmeline said, Lowering her head. âItâs not fair to you.â
âGive me time,â Benjamin squatted in front of Emmeline, his starry eyes fixed on her.
âI will slowly let go of you. You know that I am not an ambivalent man.â
Emmeline nodded. She believed in Benjamin.
Benjamin was indifferent and aloof. But he could move on as long as he said he needed time.
But this time, Emmeline overestimated Benjamin.
âCan you be friends with Janie?â Emmeline looked at Benjamin gently, âDonât make her cry. After all, she is a girl.â
âSheâs not that fragile,â Benjamin smiled, âSheâs the head of the secretary department. Itâs not a big deal.â
âBut still, Emmeline pouted, âWhy donât you invite her to dinner? Just as friends?â
Benjamin frowned.
The last time he invited Janie to drink, he treated her like a buddy.
If he invited her to dinner alene, it would be different.
Emmeline knew that Benjamin had strong principles, which he and Abel had in common.
âHow about this?â Emmeline tilted, âThe four of us go out to eat together.â
âFour?â Benjamin asked, âWhich four?â
âAbel, you, me, and Janie,â replied Emmeline.
Benjamin thought for a moment and finally nodded, âOkay.â
Emmeline was happy and jumped off the swing. Benjamin caught her and indulgently said, âYouâre almost getting married, so donât aet like a child!â
âIâll call Abel,â Emmeline exclaimed, âAnd tell him that the four of us are going to eat hot pot.â
âWait,â Benjamin said, âThereâs something else I havenât mentioned yet.â
âWhat is it?â Emmeline blinked her peach-like eyes.
âHow will you tell Mr. Adelmar about your marriage with Abel?â Benjamin asked.
âWell,â Emmeline tilted her head and thought momentarily, âThereâs still a month left. Iâm in no hurry.â
âHow about I tell him?â Benjamin suggested.
Iâd rather tell him myself,â Emmeline said. âI want to go back and tell him in person.â
âOkay, then Iâll go back with you to ReykjavÃk,â Benjamin said.
âGreat!â Emmeline smiled, revealing her dimples, âWe can also visit our Adelmar Island. Itâs so wonderful!â
Benjamin was very regretful. If he had known this earlier, he would not have left there.
âLetâs go eat hot pot,â He said with a hint of melancholy, pressing Emmelineâs nose.
âIâll call Abel and let him know,â
Emmeline said, taking out her phone.
âWhat about four kids? Donât you bring them with you?â Benjamin asked.
âTheir granny is taking care of them,â Emmeline smiled. âSo donât worry.â
âThatâs good to hear,â Benjamin nodded.
Benjamin watched Helios, Endymion, and Hesperus grow up, so he was happy as long as the children were doing well.
Emmeline quickly dialed Abelâs number, and he answered the phone soon after.
âMy dear, are you already missing me?â
âDonât be cheesy,â Emmeline smiled, âIâm just giving you a heads up.â
âWhat is it?â Abel said, âIâm listening, my babe.â
âWeâre going out for dinner tonight.â Emmeline said, âAnd Benjamin and Janie will be joining us.â
âOkay,â Abel agreed happily, âLet Benjamin bring his driver, and weâll have a few drinks.â
âSure,â Emmeline said, âIâll let him know. Heâs right next to me.â
Abel paused momentarily and asked, âIs Benjamin trying to steal my wife?
âWhat are you talking about?â Emmeline pouted, âDo you not trust me or Benjamin?â
trust both of you,â Abel said, âI was just joking.â
âI know youâre not that jealous,â Emmeline smiled, âIâll wait for you.â
âGive me a kiss,â Abel said on the other end, âOr I wonât hang up.â
