âAlright, never mind. Weâre done for today.â Oscar finally gave up. âThe domestic operations seem to be running smoothly.â
âYes.â Abél nodded. âThe Ryker Group is currently the leading company domestically.â
âWhat about the overseas market?â The elder finally got to why he was truly here.
âThe foreign markets are doing well. Weâre gaining momentum against our competitors.â
âItâs not enough to just talk about it,â Oscar said. âThere was also that overseas partner that caused us trouble last time around. I think you should go take a look yourself. I feel uneasy otherwise.â
Iâve carefully instructed the overseas branch on what to do. Everything will be dealt with in a timely manner.â
âSo what if you hand it off to the overseas branch? Itâs not like they can control our partners abroad.â
âItâs fine for now. You have nothing to worry about, Grandad.â
âItâs only natural that I worry,â Oscar continued. âThe stability of the overseas market is related to the Ryker Groupâs development. Itâs always on my mind.â
What is Grandad trying to say?
âI think you should travel abroad to look over them to play it safe.â
Abel frowned and said nothing in response.
Oscarâs sudden demand for him to go abroad to visit their business partners overseas put a bad taste in his mouth.
There had to be more with his request.
Rather than just a harmless visitation, Oscarâs sudden appearance seemed to concern his request for him to go abroad.
âIâm talking to you. Are you listening to me?â Oscar asked sternly.
âWhatever do you mean, Grandad?â
âAm I not making myself clear?â
want you to travel abroad to see what our partners are up to overseas and report back to me!â
âI got it.â Abel nodded. âIâll arrange for a trip in two days.â
He could tell that his grandfatherâs purpose was for him to go on a business trip.
âThatâs too late. Make it tomorrow,â Oscar said. âHave the secretary book you a flight.â
âOkay.â Abel nodded calmly. âIâl| give the order.â
âGood. Iâm tired. Letâs head back upstairs so I can catch my breath. We can check on what flights you can take.â
âLetâs head back up then.â Abel assisted his grandfather into the elevator.
He poured the elder man a glass of water when they reached his office on the eighty-ninth floor.
âCall for the secretary,â Oscar ordered.
Abel obeyed.
The company secretary was over in an instant.
âYou require my assistance, Mr. Ryker?â
âThat would be me,â Oscar cut in. âAbel is going on a business trip tomorrow. Book him a flight.â
âI understand, Old Mr. Ryker. Iâll do as requested.â
âGood,â Oscar said. âLet me know once the procedures have been handled.â
âYes, sir!â The secretary shot Abel a look.
With a single nod from Abel, the secretary was gone.
He returned ten minutes later with a stack of printouts.
âThese are Mr. Rykerâs flight tickets, Old Mr. Ryker. The first layover would be at Xandenia. This is the boarding information.â
Oscar was shortsighted, leading to his grim-faced assistant scrambling to offer him his glasses.
He took a look at the details after putting them on.
On the papers was Abelâs boarding information alongside a few bodyguards.
âThis is good. I can rest assured.â He put his glasses away.
âYou look anxious, Grandad.â Abel narrowed his eyes. âDid something happen?â
âOf course not.â Oscar immediately covered it up with an excuse. âItâs just what happened last time that shook me. I feel unsettled just thinking about it.â
Abelâs lips curled into a sneer.
Grandadâs every move seems to have something to do with Adam. Just what is Adam up to?
