didnât think that way,â Emmeline said. âI just hope that you can fall in love with another girl, you deserve someone better!â
âLetâs not talk about that,â Benjamin said. âWhen are you planning to get married? Iâll prepare your dowry.â
âLetâs wait until Levan Mansion picks a date,â Emmeline said. âI havenât figured out how to tell Master Robert yet.â
âMaster Adelmar was expecting this,â Benjamin said. âHe knows that finding the fathers of the children would lead to something, he just doesnât know who the man is.â
âI really hope Master Robert can accept Abel,â Emmeline said.
âThen we wonât have a problem.â
âThat shouldnât be a problem, right?â Benjamin said. âAbel is so talented.â
âBut Master Robert has a temper, who knows if Abel will catch his eye?â Emmeline said.
âDonât worry,â Benjamin reassured her, running his hand through her hair. âIâll be the mediator when the time comes.â
âWhat are you guys talking about?â Janie walked over with a cup of coffee in her hand.
She handed a cup to Benjamin.
âWe were just saying how Benjamin wants to take you out to dinner, and I want to come along, but heâs not too keen on the idea,â Emmeline said, playfully nudging Benjamin.
Janieâs eyes widened, and her cheeks túrned rosy. âReally?â
âYou should ask him yourself,â Emmeline said, winking mischievously at Benjamin.
âMr. Benjamin, is that true?â Janie asked, looking at him with anticipation.
Benjamin looked at their young miss helplessly and fondly, nodding at Janie. âEmma says itâs true, so it must be true.â
âWow!â Janie exclaimed, almost jumping up and down with excitement. âEmma is the best! Youâre my lucky charm for love!â
After finishing their coffee, Benjamin and Janie returned to Adelmar.
Along the way, Janie kept pestering Benjamin with questions. âWhen are you taking mé out to dinner?â
âAfter these next couple of days,â Benjamin replied.
âBut youâre not busy these next couple of days,â Janie protested.
âYouâre not busy, but I am,â Benjamin retorted.
Janie pouted and fell silent. Benjamin glanced at her and said, âOkay, okay, youâre starting to sound like a broken record.â
âWell, then just tell me what day,â
Janie retorted. âIs it really that hard to take me out to dinner?â
Benjamin pointed to his head, furrowing his brow. âLet me think about it When I decide, Iâll let you know.â
Janie rolled her eyes in resignation.
Emmeline headed down to the underground laboratory.
She needed to prepare several medications to treat heart attacks.
As Emmeline was busy preparing the medication, she received a message from Sam: âLuca is here.â
Emmeline replied: âAsk him to wait in the coffee shop, and take good care of him.â
Sam replied: âOne cup of coffee without sugar, plus a sugar-coated beauty.â
Emmeline responded with a facepalm emoji and a crying-
laughing emoji.
After about half an hour, the medication was prepared, and Emmeline picked up her phone to call Adrien.
It took a while for Adrien to answer the call, and his voice sounded excited but slurred with alcohol.
âEmma, did you call me?â
âEmma, Iâm so happy! I thought you had forgotten about me!â
âEmma, I miss you so muchâ¦â
Emmeline furrowed her brow and spoke with a cold tone, âAdrien, can you not do this?â
âI donât want to be like this either,â Adrien whimpered, âI know youâre Abelâs woman, so I canât mess around. But I canât control myself. No, Iâve been trying hard to control myself, not to call or contact you, but Emma, Iâm in so much painâ¦â
âSo you went to the Imperial Palace to get drunk and not come back all night?â
Adrien seemed to sober up slightly, âEmma, how did you know I was at Imperial Palace?â
âAdrien,â Emmeline reprimanded icily. âAuntie is seriously ill, and instead of staying by her side at the hospital, youâre out carousing in the Imperial Palace?â
Adrien remained silent.
âIs it if youâre the father of the triplets and part of our family, when things donât go your way, you act like this?â Emmeline continued, her voice rising.
Adrien still didnât respond.
âAdrien, answer me!â she demanded.
âBut, Emmeline,â Adrien sneered on the other end. âThe key issue here is that Iâm not the tripletsâ
father, Iâm not your husband, and youâre Abelâs woman. What right do you have to tell me what to do?â
