âWait.â Abel said, âDonât let Quentin find out about it, and I donât want to raise Alanaâs suspicion. Tell her itâs a routine check-up.â
âGot it, Mr. Abel.â The hospital director added, âI will attend to this mátter personally.â
âThatâs great.â Abel sat on a chair, âI shall wait for the results here.â
âAlright, Mr. Abel.â
The hospital director hurried off with a solemn expression.
The hospital director returned swiftly in 40 minutes.
The hospital director held a stack of X-rays and reports. He placed them on the table in front of Abel.
âWhat did you find out?â Abel said in a deep voice.
The hospital director was shocked. He said in a pleading voice, âMr. Abel, itâs my negligence. I didnât know Quentin had fabricated the medical reports.â
Abel stood up, and his eyebrows furrowed in anger.
âWhat did you say? Is it true that Alanaâs medical report is fabricated?â
âYes.â The hospital director said, âThe medical check-up reveals that Alana is fine.â
Abel took a deep breath, âWhat about the ramifications of Alanaâs injury?â
âThe bullet did not penetrate the lungs.â The hospital director added, âNeither of the shots hurt Alanaâs vital organs.â
âQuentinâs medical reports say differently.â
âThis is my fault.â The hospital director cried, âI didnât do a good job of supervising. Mr. Abel, please spare me!â
Abel replied, âDonât worry about it.
Iâm a fair person.â
Abel picked up the stack of reports. He stormed out of the hospital directorâs office, heading toward the VIP intensive care unit.
Alana was anxious.
Just now, the hospital director approached. He had the nurses push Alana out of the room on a hospital bed without saying anything.
Alana raised her voice in asking about the situation.
The hospital director replied calmly that it was a routine check- âDr. Anderson will do the medical check-up for me. He is my attending physician!â
The hospital director replied, âQuentin is in a meeting. He has entrusted me to this task.â
Did Quentin speak with the hospital director?
Even though Alana was suspicious about it, Alana had calmed down.
Before the medical check-up was over, Alana saw the hospital directorâs face darkened.
The darkened face revealed the hospital directorâs fuming anger.
Then, Alana realized something was wrong.
As Alana was about to call Quentin, the hospital roomâs door was pushed open harshly.
Abel showed up coldly at the door.
âAh!â Alana jolted, âMr. Abel, why⦠why are you here?â
Smack! Abel threw the medical report before Alana, âTell me whatâs going on here?â
Alanaâs face paled, âWhatâs going on?â
âHow dare you lie to me?â Abel grabbed Alana by the collar. âYou must have a death wish!â
Alana realized that Abel had found out the truth about her injuries.
Alana was stupefied.
However, Alana knew she had to compose herself to fix things up.
Otherwise, she would be in big trouble.
No one had survived after deceiving Abel.
There were no exceptions.
Abel was well-known as the devil from hell.
âMr. Abel, please listen to me.â Alana held Abelâs hand, âI have my reasons.
Thud! Abel threw Alana onto the floor, âHow else do you plan to lie?â
âI understand youâre mad because I lied to you.â
Alana cried on the ground, âI didnât have a choice. I didnât want you to leave, and thatâs the only way to keep you around me!â
âYouâre a vile woman!â
Abel said in disgust, âThereâs no way you can keep me around by doing that. Youâre merely courting death!â
âMr. Abel.â Alana crawled over, holding Abelâs leg, âI beg for your mercy. I donât want to lose you. I donât want Emmeline to take you away from me!â
âGo away!â Abel kicked Alana away and snarled, âOur engagement is canceled from now on. Donât dream of it anymore!â
