âNo, Iâm not. I told the police about it. They are collecting evidence now. They will not release me so soon if Iâm a child trafficker.â Kendra said anxiously.
âI believe her. The police are not simply doing their job,â Abel said.
Alana turned sideways angrily.
âMr. Abel, whereâs Timothy? Did he get hurt?â Kendra asked.
âHeâs sleeping in the car. He wanted to meet you and said thank you. Iâll say it in his place. Letâs not wake him up.â
âTimothy is a nice boy. When I was quarreling with my husband, he protected me. He also took care of the baby for me.â Kendra said with a hoarse voice.
âHow sentimental.â Alana mocked. âIâve seen so many women like you.â
âMr. Abel, may I know who this is?â Kendra asked Abel confusingly.
âIâm Timothyâs mother!â Alana couldnât stand any woman who looked good talking to Abel.
Kendra was one of them as she was quite pretty.
âBut⦠Timothy told me his mom is Emmeline,â Kendra said.
âDonât listen to that kid. Iâm his mother. Emmeline is just an outsider.â Alana said with an angry tone.
I knew that. I asked her this morning. She said the same.â
told you so. Why are you dragging this conversation?â
âBut⦠Ms. Louise was very anxious about him. She looked like sheâs blood-related to him.â
âSlap!â
Alana slapped Kendra.
âWhat are you talking about, strange lady? Emmeline is just acting!â She wanted to slap Kendra again but Abel stopped her.
âEnough! Whatâs there to argue about?â
âMy bad, Mr. Abel. I shouldnât have asked.â Kendra left hurriedly after she said that.
Abel carried Timothy upstairs when they reached the Ryker Mansion.
Alana lied about not feeling well and went back to the hospital. She doesnât want to face Rosaline because Rosaline might find fault with her. Alana was not as anxious as Rosaline when it came to Timothyâs incident. Alana had reached her limits for acting as a good mother.
Rosaline wiped her tears when she saw her grandson came back. She kept repeating âThank God!â.
Timothy was awake once Abel covered him with blankets. He cried when he realized he was back home.
âI want to meet Auntie Kendra! I havenât met her yet! I donât want to go home.â
âTimmy,â Abel held his hand and comforted him, âIâve met her.
Nothing happened to her. She went back with her baby.â
âIs it true?â
âWhen did Daddy ever lie to you?â
âCould you bring me to meet her when youâre free someday?â
âSure.â Abel nodded.
âWe need to bring a lot of milk for the baby too.â
âWhy?â Abel asked puzzledly.
âThe poor baby doesnât drink milk. Auntie Kendra cooked watery eongee for her. The granny took away all of her money too. Iâwant to help out Auntie Kendra and her child.â
Rosaline heard and sniffled, âPoor lady, Weâll listen to Timmy and send her more milk powder.â
âThanks, granny.â
âAlright. Daddy also promises you.â
âOkay! Donât break your promise!â Timothy was still a bit uneasy.
âYes. I wonât.â Abel kissed Timothyâs forehead.
âThen, can we bring Mommy Emmeline together with us?â
Abel kept quiet.
