Rosemary replied, âI know.â
Maxwellâs lips curled into a lingering smile, his tone tinged with amusement: âSo, you donât want me to investigate, donât want to owe me anything, donât want to get tangled up with me, or you simply donât plan to pursue it further?â
Rosemary glanced at Larry, who was staring at her anxiously: âI have no plans to pursue it.â
âHah,â this time, Maxwell genuinely let out a laugh, a scoffing one. He mocked, âYou really shouldnât be in Greenwood.â
âHuh?â
âYou should go wake up the statue of God in Lakeside City. Take his position there, and I bet the place would prosper.â
She just knew that Maxwell, this bastard, would never say anything nice!
Without another word, she hung up the phone. Rosemary turned to Larry with an icy voice: âSatisfied? Hand over the phone.â
Larry, knowing he had been biased on this matter, felt a rare twinge of guilt. He handed the phone to Rosemary and noticed the shocking love bites on her neck.
As a man, he had an instinctive understanding of how intense a kiss had to be to leave such intense marks. Clearly, someone was deeply in love with this woman, to kiss her with such passionate force.
He had heard that they were getting a divorce, but with those marks and the bodyguards outside...
He brightened up inside, âRosemary, you and Maxwell.â
Before he could finish, Stacey suddenly snatched the phone from Larryâs hand and smashed it to the ground. If seemed that was not enough for her, she proceeded to step on it with her full force.
Stacey was right beside Larry and she had already planned this, so even if Rosemary reached out her hand at her fastest speed to stop her, she was still a step too slow.
The bodyguards were outside. No matter how well-trained, they still couldnât sprout wings and fly over.
âStacey.â
Without hesitation, Rosemary delivered a slap on Stacey. She slapped so hard that it made her already aching head throb even more. She looked down at the woman who had fallen from her slap, âYou want to die, huh? Iâll oblige.â
Larry intervened, âRosemary, Staceyâs just a kid, and sheâs immature. Dad apologizes on her behalf. Sheâs your sister, after all. Forgive her this once.â
Stacey held her swollen face, âRosemary, youâre only acting all high and mighty because Maxwellâs got your back. Without him, what do you think you are? Your mother died so young, maybe you cursed her to death, and you also ruined the company. If dad hadnât gone abroad, heâd probably be dead by your curse as well.â
Rosemary shook off Larryâs hand and gave Stacey another slap, interrupting her despicable words!
âHasnât Larry ever taught you to brush your teeth? Thatâs why the stench coming out of your mouth? Today Iâm going to give you a free lesson on manners.â
âAh!â After a few more slaps, Stacey screamed, âRosemary, you dare hit me, Iâll kill you! You and your short-lived mother should both go to hell!â
She charged directly at Rosemary like a mad bullâ
Rosemary didnât dodge; her eyes were as cold as ice, staring coldly at her.
Stacey met her gaze, a chill ran down her spine, with goosebumps all over her skin. At that moment, she was convinced that Rosemary really meant to kill her.
This is a society ruled by lawâhow dare Rosemary have such thoughts?
As she lunged forward, her momentum halted as her neck was seized from behind. The discomfort nearly made her vomit. She turned to see the impassive face of the bodyguard choking her, âWhat the hell are you choking me? Sheâs the one who started this!â
The bodyguard was deadpanned, âOur duty is to protect Mrs. Templeton and ensure she is unharmed.â
In other words, it was okay if Rosemary hit Stacey, but not the other way around.
After saying this, he turned to Rosemary: âMrs. Templeton, you can leave this kind of rough work to us; hitting people can hurt your hands.â
Damn, what kind of world was that? She hit me and yet complains that my face hurts her hand?
Rosemaryâs hand did hurt a bit, her palm aching: âSend her to the police station. Sheâs the one who sent those guys after me last night.â
Hearing that she would be taken to the police station, Stacey panicked!
âRosemary, you said you wouldnât pursue last nightâs incident anymore. You go back on your word?â
âThe premise of not pursuing is that you didnât give me a piece of junk.â Rosemary bent down to pick up the phone that Stacey had stomped into pieces. The screen had gone black. After pressing it a couple of times, there was no response at all.
Stacey and Larry were dragged away by the bodyguards while Staceyâs shrill curses echoed through the hallway: âRosemary, you bitch, you cursed your mother to death... ugh...â
The curses abruptly stopped â probably because the bodyguards found her too loud and gagged her.
Rosemary changed clothes, took a pill to relieve her headache, and put the severely damaged phone in her bag before she left.
This phone was pretty old and now it was completely trashed. Rosemary was afraid of losing the data stored in it if she found someone random to fix it, so she decided to bring it to Hogan to see if anyone could repair it or at least retrieve the data.
There was definitely no one outside of the army that could match their technical talent.
Rosemary looked at the few people tailing her: âItâs daytime now, you donât have to follow me.â
She was going to see Hogan, and God knows what Maxwell would do if he found out. Although he seemed quite normal during the day, not like someone whoâd force himself upon others, she didnât dare to take the risk.
The bodyguard said, âMrs. Templeton, Mr. Templeton ordered us to protect you closely.â
âAre you here to protect me, or to keep a surveillance?â
âMr. Templeton didnât mention surveillance.â
Rosemary smirked, âIn that case, please give me all your phones.â
The remaining two bodyguards exchanged looks, âMrs. Templeton.â
âIf you canât follow orders, I donât need you here. Let Maxwell send someone else.â
The bodyguards had no choice but to hand over their cell phones. If Mrs. Templeton were to really complain to Mr. Templeton, regardless of whether it was their fault or not, Mr. Templeton would definitely not let them off the hook easily.

ï¤Chapter 1452 Long Life, Long Water Fearing that they might alert Maxwell halfway, Rosemary rode with them in the same car.
Rosemary was meeting Hogan at a coffee shop. The location was decided by him and it was near his place.
Upon arrival, Rosemary realized that main customers of this coffee shop were couples. Both the decoration and the atmosphere were quite romantic.
The booth seating was only for two people and they were sitting close together. Coupled with the lighting and the overall romantic vibe of the place, the slightest inattention could lead to some misplaced passion.
The bodyguard, who had been keeping a stern face all this while, now had his eyes wide open as a thought crossed his mind.
They were screwed!
Hogan had already arrived. Upon seeing Rosemary, he put his arm around her shoulder and steered her towards the booth.
âFinally, you took the initiative to meet me. But why have you brought along two people with you?â
