LILYS POV Dimitri had made love to me for the rest of the day and well into the night. I couldnât feel my legs; It felt like I was walking on wood. But I didnât care. Weâd lived out most of the fantasies Iâd had about him, and even a few heâd had about me. He showed me the utmost love and care, being gentle when I needed it, and complying with me heartily when I wanted more. Weâd fallen asleep wrapped in each others arms with whispered âI love youâsâ.
Because of that, I couldnât stop smiling. Throughout my breakfast, which Iâd decided to have with Hazel and Clint. Throughout training with Dimitri and Karla, lunch, and now in Tharas office. I sat waiting for her, my goofy grin plastered on my face.
âSomeones in a good mood.â Thara said as she entered.
âYeah.â I agreed.
âSomething happen? Other than gaining a super cool power, I mean?â She smiled. Iâd told her, along with my other friends. I trusted them, and knew they wouldnât look at me any differently.
âI love your brother.â I blurted out. Thara paused halfway seated in her chair.
âDoes my brother know that?â
I nodded. âAnd guess what?â
âWhat?â
âHe loves me too!â I laughed.
Once again, my sister-in-law turned into a jumping, squealing mess. We hugged tightly.
âFinally! I could have you two that a long time ago! Iâm so happy for you guys!â
âThanks.â I beamed. âIâm hoping youâre here to make me happy though? Or happier, I guess.â
âToday is just your day girl. Youâre going to be over the moon.â She passed over a thick book.
âThis is all?â I asked confused.
âThis is not like human hospitals. We donât get sick like they do, their diseases donât effect us. Where humans have to go school for years to be a doctor, itâs a significantly much shorter process for werewolves.â
âSo, how does this work?â I held up the book.
âThatâs one of five books on werewolf anatomy. There is an exam at the end of each, which you will take with me in the room. If you pass all five exams, you get to train with one of us here in the hospital for a year before you can take the final exam to be a doctor. If you fail that, you have to train another full year before taking it again.â
âYou make it sound so easy.â
âItâs not. I failed my third exam, had to re-take it, and then failed the final exam once. True, itâs not years of school, but itâs not easy either.â
âIâll do my best.â I promised her.
âWhen are you going to tell Dimitri?â
âI was thinking Iâd do it tonight, at dinner. He wants to run through the guest list for Alpha Ball with me, familiarize me with it.â
An odd look passed over face, and then she was smiling again. âIâm sure heâll be proud of you. I know I am.â
âThanks Thara. I couldnât have done this without you.â
âThank me once itâs official, in a years time.â
We left her office together, chatting until she had to see a patient. I was taking time off from working with her to start studying. Hopefully soon, I would be training under her for real, not just in my spare time as a hobby. Textbook under my arm, I made my way back to the packhouse. I had a special dinner planned for Dimitri and I tonight, and I wanted to get started.
âLuna!â
I turned to see Connor wlaking towards me. I hadnât seen him since the day he rejected Silvia, though Iâd had reports from Luke and Ben both that he was suffering during training. Good.
âConnor.â I nodded stiffly at him. He stopped a few feet away, nodding back. âCan I help you?â
âI wanted to talk to you.â
I raised an eyebrow. âGo ahead.â
âDonât you think Iâve suffered enough Luna? Are you ever going to lift my punishment? Iâm losing out on training, and you know the pack need all itâs warriors.â
âI suppose my answer would depend on your answer.â
âMy answer to what?â
âDo you think Silvia has suffered enough? Has she moved on yet? Gotten over what you did to her?â
âI-I really couldnât say. I havenât talked to her.â
I mulled it over in my head. âTell you what, Connor. Iâll offer you a proposition. You apologize to Silvia, in front of everyone, and then she will make the call wether or not youâve learned your lesson.â
âIs that really necessary?â He growled.
âYes, it is.â I growled back. âBesides, she knows you better than I do. If you simply put on an act, sheâll know. So Iâm leaving it up to her.â
âWhy do I have to do it front of everyone?â
I scoffed. âWhy did you have to reject her in front of everyone? Honestly, this is far less embarrassing. Thatâs my deal, take it leave it.â I tapped my foot, waiting for him to make a decision.
âFine!â He crossed his arms.
âIâll let her know. I have things to do though. Bye.â
I walked away without a backwards glance. I had a feeling Silvia wasnât going to let him off the hook; He didnât look very sorry to me. As I entered the packhouse, my mood dampened again. Jennine was standing by the stairs with her friends, dressed in what could be considered a bathing suit. Who walked around like that in the open, for real? Did she have absolutely no shame? Without hesitation, I marched up to the three women, planting myself in front of them.
Jennine glared at me hatefully. âCan I help you?â She sneered.
âYou could help a lot of us by putting more clothes on.â I replied.
âSorry, but you donât have the power to dictate how I dress.â
âI wasnât trying to. It was merely a suggestion. What are you doing here?â
All three stared at me. âExcuse me?â
âWhat are you doing here, in the packhouse?â I clarified.
âI have as much right to be here as you!â
I shook my head. âYou may have, once. But you and Dimitri are no longer together. The packhouse is for Omegas who work here, warriors and their mates, and the ranked wolves. You are none of the above. Yet, you continue to hang around.â
Her eyes flashed with coldness. However, it was her friend who answered.
âThere are a lot of people who hang out in the packhouse. Your friend Hazel for example?â Red Streaks said.
âYeah, even before she found her mate.â Red Hair added.
âHazel worked in the gardens, in case you forgot. Aside from that, she was always here with an invitation extended by me.â
Judging by their faces, none of them knew that Hazel had worked at the pack house. I hadnât known it either for a while, until I joined her one day out of boredom.
âThat being said, Iâll ask again. What are you doing here?â
âIâm here to see Dimitri.â Jennine answered cooly. âIâm here to put in a complaint.â
I rolled my eyes. âThen submit a form like everyone else.â
She scoffed. âIâm not like everyone else. Dimitri always-â
Iâd had enough. Of her, of her attitude, and the way she still thought she had a claim on my mate. Anger coursed through me when she said his name, like she had the right to. My Luna aura spread out around me, effectively cutting off her words. It was the first time Iâd ever used it.
âFirst off, he is not Dimitri, at least not to you. He is your Alpha, and you will address him as such. Second, if you think for one second that I, his mate, am going to let another woman dressed like this-,â I waved my hand at her body, â,- near my mate, you are out of your f*****g mind. Third, you are like everyone else Jennine. You are not a ranked wolf, nor do you work here! You have no mate either. Therefore, you have no business here. So leave.â
The last of my words were laced with command, something Iâd only seen Dimitri do. The twins bowed their heads in submission, but Jennine just glared at me. I could tell she was fighting the urge to submit to me. Truthfully, I didnât care if she did or not, I just wanted her gone. Roughly hitting my shoulder with hers, she stormed past me, her friends following quickly. Jennine slammed the front door harshly, the sound bouncing off the walls. It was then that I scented him. Looking up the stairs, my mate was gazing down at me, shock and amusment on his face.
âHi.â I said.
âHi.â He came down the steps, eyes locked with mine. âIt seems weâve discovered another talent of yours.â
âI didnât mean to. It just⦠happened.â
âWell, they deserved it anyways.â He kissed my nose. âIâm glad you finally discovered your Luna tone. It was quite a turn on to see.â
âYou mean that wasnât part of my abilities?â
âNope. Every Luna can do that darling. Just like Alphas can.â
âAwesome.â I grinned and Dimitri chuckled. Then his face clouded.
âHowever, itâs not normal that Jennine didnât submit to you like the other two. Iâve never seen that happen before.â His forehead creased in confusion.
âIâm chalking it up to her incredibly stubborn and bow-down-to-me attitude.â
âMaybe youâre right.â He still looked concerned though. âWhatâs that?â He changed the subject abruptly, eyeing the book in my hand. Quickly, I shoved it behind my back.
âItâs a surprise!â I squeaked. âFor later.â
âOh?â
I nodded. âIâll tell you at dinner. Six thirty, donât be late, okay?â
âWouldnât dream of it.â He bent to give me a quick k**s. âSee you later sweetheart.â
My cheeks flushed at the term of endearment. Heâd changed so much in such a short time. Yet, he was still the same. I realized that it wasnât so much that heâd changed-this Dimitri was always inside of him, just buried. I just happened to be the one to bring him out. Just like I knew he was responsible for bringing me out my shell into the confident women I was now. I watched him walk away, a content smile on my face.
I took the stairs up to our room, unaware of someone far worse than Jennine plotting against us.
