Ch7: Oh, My Bad, I Guess She's A Nice Bitch

"Elliana I'm busy right now," my mom says and I can hear the movement of objects in the background.

She's probably at work.

"Okay," I nod. "I just wanted to talk you know considering-"

"We can talk some other day," she says sternly. "I'm busy right now."

"It's just that a certain day is coming up and-"

"I have to go Elliana. We can talk later," She hangs up.

That's odd. My mom's always made time to talk when I told her I needed to. Today she completely dissed me and my dad hasn't even called me.

I should call him, right?

I dial the number on my phone and place it against my ear.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

"Hello," he answers and I can tell I just woke him up.

"Dad," I chirp. "I haven't talked to you in a few days and I was wondering if we could talk real quick-"

"I'm really tired Elliana," He yawns. "Can we talk later?"

Um, ok.

"Yeah," I try my best to not sound upset. "I'll talk to you later dad. Love you."

He hangs up.

"I love you too Elliana," I hiss throwing my phone against the table.

"Wow, you even feel the need to compliment yourself," Josh laughs as he walks into the kitchen.

"Shut up," I put my head on the table.

"You ok?" Josh asks grabbing my arm.

No, but if I explain it to you then I have to tell you my sister's dead and I don't want the sad eyes you'll give me.

"Yes," I nod faking a big smile. "Just tired that's all."

"Has anyone told you that you suck at lying?" He asks, a playful smile on his face. "Because you do."

"Lying has never been a part of my many talents," I chuckle. "But yes Pipper tells me all the time."

"How is Pipper?" he asks. "Have you heard from him?"

"He sent me a text," I frown. "Saying that he was fine and that he'll see me Monday morning."

"I'm sure he's okay," he softly rubs my cheek with his hand causing me to blush.

"You two done flirting?" Vincent walks into the kitchen.

"Why you jealous?" Josh smirks and I roll my eyes.

"Of what?" he smirks. "You and Kitten here? Please."

"I'm not a freaking cat," I say frustrated. "I'm a human being who's parents decided to name Elliana."

"Kitten," Vinny mocks me and I roll my eyes.

"You should put a condom over your head," I say.

"What?" He questions confused.

"I mean if you're going to be a dick you might as well dress like one," I smirk and Josh begins laughing so hard actual tears come out of his eyes.

"Boom," we high five before walking out the kitchen.

"I have to go," I laugh before grabbing my things and walking towards the door.

"Are you ever going to tell us where you disappear to?" Josh asks, a sudden frown on his face.

"It's complicated," I shake my head.

"Everyone has complicated," he nods and I feel the need to change the subject.

"Where's Alex?" I question.

"Football practice," he answers. "He has it in the mornings and afternoons during pre-season."

"Oh," I nod opening the door. "I'll see you at school."

***

"One day at a time," Victor says. "Tell yourself I can go today without drinking, smoking, cutting, being sad, or something. Don't say I'm going to go one week without it because that's too much pressure. Say I'm going to go today without it and then wake up tomorrow and say it again. Do it one day at a time."

"One day at a time," we repeat.

Victor always gives us some kind of version of this speech at the end of the meeting. It's how we know the meeting is over and we can all go to school.

"You coming too Elliana?" Mick says standing up.

I've been going to school with Mick after every meeting since Pipper hasn't been here.

"I'll see you at school," I say. "I think I'm going to talk to Victor for a little."

"Okay," he nods before walking out.

"How have you been?" Victor smiles taking a seat in an empty chair next to me.

"Good," I smile. "It's just I need to talk to someone."

"I'm all ears," he says looking at me seriously and I take a deep breath.

"So my sister's birthday is coming up," I begin not sure of how to word what I'm feelings. "Next week on Wednesday she was going to turn nineteen. Usually, I try not to think about her because if I do I start crying and I don't want to do that."

"Why not?" He asks.

"I have roommates," I answer. "They don't know anything and I don't want to tell them. I just hate the look of pity they'll give me and how they'll start treating me like I'm some expensive glass bottle."

"So how do you hide it?"

"I don't think about her," I explain. "I don't bring her up in any conversation with anyone and I try my best to not look at anything that has to do with her."

"Have you tried talking to your parents about it?"

"I called them this morning," I nod "but they were busy."

"So who, aside from me, do you talk about this with?"

"No one," I swallow harshly. "None of my friends besides Pipper and Mick know."

"How are your parents?" He asks and I give him a confused look.

"They're fine," I reply. "They just needed to mourn alone and I think they wanted me to do the same."

"Mourn alone," he repeats it in a way that looks like he's tasting the word and it's a bitter flavor. "No one should mourn alone. You are not mourning alone, you have me and everyone in the group."

No, I don't because you don't know what it feels like.

"Thanks," I smile. "It's just that I don't have anyone who loved Lilo like I did....I feel alone and it's not like I can go hug my parents or have them comfort me in any way."

Today they completely dissed me.

"I'm going to give you some advice," he takes a hold of my hand. "Tell someone because all you're doing is holding everything in and that's terrible for you. You need to rant in order to let out some of the emotions you're having."

"Okay," I nod unsure of whether I should do what he says or not.

Who can I tell that won't give me the I-feel-bad-for-you look?

***

"Kitten," I hear Vinny yell as I approach my locker.

Ugh, what does he want?

"Yes, cuntpuddle?" I open my locker not turning to look at him.

"I signed us up as partners," he smirks "for the history project."

What?

"You twatface," I growl. "Why the hell did you do that?"

"Because who wouldn't want to be partners with this," he says pointing at himself. "Be grateful that I gave you the opportunity."

"You know I'd honestly like to see things from your point of view," I smile "but I can't seem to stick my head that far up my ass."

How dare he do such a thing?

"Everything ok?" Alex asks making his way towards us before opening his locker.

"You're an egotistical grass ass, you know?" I turn towards Vincent shutting my locker. "But trust me I'm not letting you flake out on this. You will do your half of the project."

"I see," Alex laughs.

"Princess," Josh walks towards us.

"Hey," I wave still glaring at Vincent who seems to be completely unaffected by my earlier words.

"Hi everyone," a girl's voice calls and I immediately recognize it.

Van - bitchy- essa.

"Hey Vanessa," all three guys salute and I roll my eyes.

All they do is look at her ass.

"Hi Elliana," she smiles at me and for a second I actually believe her, but then I realize it's all an act.

What game is she playing?

"Hey," I say coldly.

"I know we started off on the wrong foot because of the locker situation," she says handing everyone a small flyer. "I tend to take my hall monitor job pretty seriously," annoying laughter "but I was hoping you could all attend my charity event next weekend. It's a toy, money, book, and clothing donation for kids with cancer. There will be small carnival games you can play for a dollar and some food, nothing too expensive, but again it's all a donation."

Clap, clap, clap.

A+ for the acting, but seriously who falls for this?

"Sounds good," Alex grins. "We will definitely be there."

Wow.

"Yeah," Josh nods. "This is really kind of you Vanessa."

Of course, idiots.

"Count me in," Vincent shrugs, both his hands casually in his pockets.

Idiots everywhere.

I look down towards the paper and see the small children smiling with no hair and it simply breaks my heart.

How can anyone say no to this?

Even if it's being managed by a total bitch.

"Sure," I nod looking up at a grinning, almost kind looking, Vanessa.

You're still a bitch.

"Great," she hugs me and I fight the urge to push her off. "I knew I could count on you all."

"Right," I fake a laugh.

"Okay I'm going to keep passing flyers," she waves before walking off and I turn around only to see all three devil boys looking at the retreating buns.

Stupid grass asses.

"Earth to the perverts," I cough and they all look away as if breaking free from a trance.

"This is really kind," Josh smiles as he looks down at the photo. "Vanessa's always been a good person."

What?

"Yeah," I fake a smile "isn't she such a nice sweet lollipop triple dipped in psycho."

"What are you talking about?" Vincent asks. "Everyone always talks about how nice she is."

"You know," I ignore his comment "I wonder how she combs her hair so that the horns don't show?"

"How can you say that about someone who is making a charity for kids with cancer?" Alex asks and I look towards all three devil boys who are looking at me like I'm the bitch.

Damn, she's good.

"You're right," I say trying to hide my sarcasm. "She's great."

***

"So after you came back and sat on your bed," Taylor giggles.

"It fell apart," I shake my head. "I mean I have to admit it's genius, but also completely stupid. My bed could've broken into millions of pieces...Good thing I already rebuilt it or else I'd be sleeping on the floor."

"Devil boys," she chuckles. "Anyways tell me about Josh and you."

"What about us?" I ask pretending to be completely clueless.

"Oh come on," She rolls her eyes. "So you're going to tell me that he took you to the town lake, which is beautiful and there is nothing between you two."

"Yeah," I say kind of shocked. "We have nothing, which is good because I cannot lose this bet."

"Right," she glares at me "the stupid bet you agreed to. Have you even thought of a price?"

Damn it.

"No," I shake my head. "I haven't had time to think about it. "

"Hey," I see Alex approaching us.

"Hi Alex," Taylor grins and I suppress a laugh.

Oh, Taylor.

"Hey," I wave.

"I have to go," Taylor looks down at her. "I'll see you later Elliana."

"Okay," I give a strange look before she basically runs off.

That was weird.

"So this is what you do during passing period," Alex says taking a seat next to me on the floor in front of some lockers.

"I do," I nod. "How's football?"

"Good," he smiles, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "I'm going to be team captain this year again."

"Congrats," I smile back. "I guess sports really are your thing."

"Well," he chuckles "sports and cheesy pickup lines are my only talents."

"Cheesy pickup lines?" I question. "What do you mean?"

"How do you think I pick up girls?" he grins "Duh, with pick up lines."

"So you have an unlimited amount of pick up lines?" I ask and he nods. "I don't believe you."

"I'll prove it to you," he smirks confidently as the bell rings.

"Sure you will," I chuckle.

"I'll walk you to class," he says a smug smile on his face.

"Why?" I ask playing along.

"Because my mom always told me to follow my dreams," he smirks and I shake my head laughing.

"That was terrible," I laugh. "Just because of that you cannot walk with me anywhere."

"Oh come on," he scoffs "that was smooth."

"Right," I nod sarcastically before turning around and walking away.

"Wait Elliana," he catches up to me. "You dropped something."

"What?" I search the floor before looking up at him.

"My jaw," he winks and I can't help, but grin.

Okay, he's good.

***

"She was acting nice," I tell Taylor holding the phone close to my ear.

"She always acts nice around the boys," Taylor explains. "She doesn't want them knowing how much of an asshole she really is."

"Well they think she's a saint," I say walking towards the fridge and taking out a container with cucumbers and pineapples before placing them down on the table. "I don't understand how they don't see it."

"That's because they only see her huge ass," she chuckles as I grab a knife and a small flat dish before sitting down on the table.

"Well I'm making food for tomorrow," I sigh "for our beach trip."

"Okay I'll leave you to it," she answers before hanging up. I immediately take out the peeled fruit and start cutting it.

"Fruit," Alex chirps as he walks into the kitchen and grabs a cucumber slice.

"Stop," I glare at him. "These are for tomorrow."

"You know, " Alex smirks "if you were a fruit you'd be a cute-cumber."

"Wow," I fake a smile "never heard that one before."

"Or," he grabs a pineapple slice "you'd be a fine apple."

"Seriously?" I chuckle and he winks at me.

"Pu rum pa," he pretends to play an imaginary drum as he walks out the kitchen.

Oh god, he will never stop anymore. I'm stuck with terrible, terrible cheesy pickup lines for the rest of the year.

What did I do to deserve this?

Oh yes, I opened my BIG mouth.

"Princess," Josh walks in interrupting my thoughts. His hair looks like he's been running his hand through it aggressively and he has a huge weird smile plastered on his face.

If you don't ask then he'll just go away.

"Dillweed," I acknowledge him continuing to cut the fruit.

"How are you?" He asks, his creepy smile getting bigger.

Don't ask.

"Peachy," I smile focusing on my fruit.

"That's fantastic," he smiles even bigger, moving closer towards me.

"What do you need?" I exclaim, no longer being able to handle the creepiness radiating off of him.

"I need a favor," he scratches the back of his head, the universal sign of a guy who's nervous.

"What is it?" I ask preparing myself for the worse.

"I need you to meet my family," he spits out and I turn to him completely shocked.

And the worse it is.

A/N: Hope you liked the update!
