Ch6: Late Night Adventures And The Destruction Of Property

"Elliana," I hear a voice, but I'm too concentrated on my soon to be husband.

His tall strong built figure and his gorgeous green eyes with a precious swoon-worthy smile.

"Of course I'll marry you, Channing Tatum," I smile at the beautiful man in front of me.

"Elliana," the voice growls causing me to jolt awake. As soon as I open my eyes I see a large dark figure above me and my defenses kick in. I raise both my legs and throw them against his chest.

I'm not getting kidnapped today!

"Fuck," the intruder growls as his body flies back. Before I know it I'm crouching on my bed and I throw a high kick with my left foot towards his face, but he manages to duck. As soon as he's back up I use the palm of my right hand to punch him directly in the throat. I hear him gag and begin to cough in response giving me time to jump off the bed. As soon as my feet hit the ground I use my right foot to trip the mysterious man and climb on top of him placing my knees on his upper arms.

"Elliana," the figure breathes and I recognize the voice.

"Josh?" I question climbing off of him. "What the hell are you doing?"

"You could've killed me," he exclaims standing up and holding his throat with both his arms.

"I'm so sorry," I chuckle nervously. "I thought you were a kidnapper or a serial killer or something."

"A serial killer that knew your name," he mocks.

"Hey," I argue. "What if the serial killer stalked me enough to learn everything about me before he brutally murders me in my room?"

"You watch too much television," he shakes his head.

"What time is it?" I question noticing the fact that the sun hasn't come up.

"Four O'clock," he smiles sheepishly.

Four in the morning?!?

"What the hell am I doing awake at four in the morning?" I exclaim furiously.

"I wanted to invite you somewhere," he smiles even more sheepishly.

"Invite me at four in the afternoon," I walk back to my bed. "I'm not a functioning human right now."

"Please," he begs. "It'll be fun, I promise."

It's dark in the room, but I can still manage to see his pouting lips making him look adorable as hell.

Ugh, I hate him.

"Fine," I state " but I'm moody when I don't get enough sleep."

"I can put up with it," he shrugs.

"You say that now," I warn.

"Put something over your pajamas," he grins "and wear good shoes."

"Where are we going?" I ask making my way towards my closet.

No response.

"Josh?" I peek my head out and see that he's left the room.

This better not be a prank because I'll murder him. You can mess with anything else, but do not disturb my sleep. Or eat my food.

Those are sacred things, man.

I quickly grab some black leggings and put them over my black shorts. Then I grab an oversized hoodie and throw it over my watermelon t-shirt that says melon dollars with a giant bitten watermelon at the top.

Okay, sturdy shoes.

Looking for my shoes I spot my black combat boots. Perfect. Grabbing my boots and a pair of socks I put them on.

"You ready?" Josh asks. "Can I come in?"

"Yeah come in," I unplug my phone and unlock it.

No missing calls.

Fuck Pipper.

"Whatever," I say under my breath and shove it in my pocket.

"Let's go," Josh walks towards my window and opens it before climbing out.

Why is he outside my window?

"What you doing?" I ask confused. "You do realize that's a window, not a door."

"Of course I do moody," he rolls his eyes. "It's just that if we use the front door Alex and Vincent will wake up and want to come. We don't want that."

"Well, I'm not jumping out the window," I cross my arms stubbornly. "It's unsafe and reckless."

"Princess," he says "Come on, don't be a chicken right now. I use to do this all the time with Cameron the guy that lived here before you."

Chicken?

"Pock pock," I pretend to be a chicken.

"You're weird," he climbs back into the room "but fine let's use the door."

I win.

Feeling victorious I turn around and begin making my way towards the door. As soon as I'm about to exit the door I feel two arms grab my waist and before I know it I'm on Josh's shoulders moving away from the door.

"Dillweed," I growl. "Put me down right now."

"Nope," he pops the p.

"Josh," I hear him open the window. "If we fall we will both die and I like living."

"We won't die," he carefully climbs out the window making sure not to hit my head on the frame.

He turns around to face the window and I can see the cement floor below

causing my heart beat to rise to my throat.

"Josh Summers," I scream. "Put me down right now or I swear I will castrate you in your sleep."

"Right away," he slowly puts me down and I immediately turn towards the window only to see it closed.

He closed the fucken window.

"How are we going to get back inside?" I exclaim. "This window locks from the inside dillweed."

"We're going to jump," he smiles before walking towards the left side of the house which leads to the driveway.

"I'm not jumping," I follow him carefully trying not to slip and fall to a painful death. Once he reaches the edge of the door he jumps down and I expect him to disappear, but instead, I continue seeing his head.

"There's a step," he smirks and I glare at him making my way towards the edge of the roof before jumping down. From this step, we're only a few feet off the ground making it easy to jump.

"Dillweed," I jump off the step hitting the ground roughly.

Ouch, that still kinda hurt.

"That's my truck," he jumps off making his way towards a forest green pickup truck parked across the street.

"Where are we going?" I ask following him. He's wearing a black v-neck shirt some sweats and a pair of black shoes. His brown hair is messily tossed around most likely from sleeping, but somehow it looks good.

"Somewhere," he answers a smug look on his face and I know he's never going to tell me. I just hope this is worth another good few hours of sleep.

***

We've finally arrived after a fifteen-minute drive and all I can see is a dirt road surrounded by forest.

"Your hands are probably full of herpes or something," I argue.

"Damn it Elliana," he rolls his eyes. "Just come over here and let me cover your eyes."

I can tell he's actually annoyed now so I comply walking towards him.

"I told you I get moody," I stand directly in front of him and he puts both his hands on my eyes.

"And stubborn," he says and I glare into the inside of his hands.

"I use to come here with Cameron," Josh says as we walk and I can feel leaves rubbing the sides of my arms meaning we're walking straight through the forest. "Or when I just felt like being alone."

"Why did Cameron move out?" I ask curiously. He mentioned him earlier in the room and I wanted to ask him about it, but I was too busy fighting about the roof situation.

"He graduated and went to a university in Arizona" he answers. "We were all really close to him. He was cool you would've liked him."

"I bet," I smile.

Now that I think about it, I'm living in that house because my sister died. Why are they? Where are their parents?

Should I ask or is that too personal?

"We're here," Josh exclaims and I can tell he's really excited because his voice turns all high pitched in a cute sort of way. Suddenly I can hear the splashing of water in the distance and I become excited too.

"Take your hands off," I smack his hands and a beautiful view comes into sight.

"Violent," he whines.

This is definitely worth a few hours of sleep.

"This is amazing," I grin. We are currently standing at the side of a big lake that runs through a path of large trees. At the end of the path is a large cascade and behind it, I can see the opening of a cave.

On the left side is a large opening with rocks stacked up together leading up to the cascade. On the right side is a large tree trunk on its side probably put there so people can sit.

"A lot of people come here during the summer," Josh says "but never this early."

"Thank you," I smile. "This is...fantastic."

"You're welcome," he smiles. "You know there's a history of this lake. Most people don't know any of it there too focused on swimming and being cool."

"What's the history?" I ask intrigued.

"The man who first established this town, Daniel Woodale, came from the south side of the forest which is where we're standing. He'd been lost in the forest for some time so he's hungry and dehydrated almost to the point of death. As he's walking or basically crawling he finds this lake and it saves his life. He wrote in his death letter that he was so eternally grateful that he created a town that would worship this lake. Of course, that only happened for a few generations until his story was no longer passed down orally. It's only available in the town history book now and it's hard for people to read so no one knows the story anymore."

"That sucks," I frown. "This lake should mean more to the people who live here."

"Yeah," he nods. "I'm not from here and I know the story which actually makes me have some respect for this lake."

"Where are you from?" I question.

"Los Angeles," he answers. "I moved here sophomore year."

"Why you leave L.A for such a small town?" I ask. "That's a big change."

"I don't get along with my parents," he shrugs. "My uncle owns the house so he offered it to me and I accepted."

"Wait so you moved out because you simply didn't get along with your parents?" I query completely shocked. "Don't you miss them?"

"It's more complicated than simply getting along Elliana," he runs his hand through his hair. "My family is...horrible...in a very complex kind of way. Look they want me to be a certain way and I didn't want to so we would fight all the time."

I've come to notice he always calls me Elliana when he's being serious which means this is a topic he doesn't want to touch upon.

I should just drop it.

"I see," I nod leaning down towards the water and putting my hand in. It's nice and fresh.

"Let's swim," he exclaims and I turn to look at him completely bewildered.

Is he crazy?

"No thanks," I shake my head. "I'll sit on the nice log and watch."

"Come on," he begins taking his shirt off. "It will be fun."

"It's cold," I shake my head again.

"Don't be a sourpuss," he pouts removing his shoes, socks, and sweats.

Why does he have to be so goddam attractive?

With his toned body and cute pouting face.

"Fine," I take my hoodie off "but my shirt stays on."

"I would have it no other way," he grins before jumping into the water.

Sure you wouldn't dillweed.

I quickly take off my leggings, socks and combat boots.

"Incoming," I laugh as I jump into the water. My entire body sinks and I feel a good refreshing feeling as I go up.

"Princess," Josh wraps his arms around my waist and I can feel his fingers touching my lower back causing my entire body to go warm. "We should check out the cave behind the cascade."

"Yeah," I grin enthusiastically slightly moving away from him.

"Come on dork," he splashes me making water go into my eyes and mouth.

"Dillweed," I laugh splashing him back making his brown hair fall on his face. He quickly uses his hand to push it back and it's as if I can see his face perfectly. His wet ash brown hair messily tossed back, his big brown eyes shining with excitement, and a huge goofy smile on his face that's so infectious it has me smiling with him.

He's not the guy that's smoking hot with the strong jawline and colored eyes, but he's the guy with the kind eyes and soft facial features.

"Quit drooling over me," he splashes me before turning around to swim away.

"Oh no you don't," I throw myself on his back. "This is war dillweed."

I guess Josh isn't so bad.

***

"So you stopped a couple months ago?" Josh asks as he opens the front door of the house allowing me to enter first. I immediately throw myself on our comfortable couch.

I'm tired.

"Yeah," I nod. "I first started training when I was four so it's been thirteen years."

"Wow," he throws himself next to me. "I'm impressed. You're women of many talents."

"Why thank you," I smile. "I do pride myself with my many talents."

"I shouldn't have said that," he chuckles. "Now your ego is bigger than Vinny's."

"Now that's an insult," I smack him. "I'd have to climb the tallest building just to be a competition."

"I see the love birds have arrived," Alex calls as he runs down the stairs. "Where were you guys?"

"What's it to ya?" Josh smirks. "We went out somewhere."

"In the middle of the night?" Alex questions.

"We like adventure," I smile "and you guys weren't invited so there's that."

"Yeah," Josh nods. "We didn't need tagalongs."

"Kitten," Vinny calls and I turn back to face towards the stairs. He's at the top of the stairs with a smug look on his face.

"My name is Elliana," I roll my eyes. "What do you want?"

"Have you considered my offer?" He smirks.

"I have," I stand up. "My answer is still no Vin."

"You're the creator of Vin?" Josh ask cracking up. "When I heard I thought it was phenomenal. You're good princess."

"Like you said," I smirk. "I have many talents."

"Have you showed Josh your talents?" Alex asks, a perverted look on his face.

Ew.

"You look like a constipated monkey," I give him a disgusted look. "Take that look off your face."

"Well have you?" He insists and I roll my eyes.

"I'm not a doorknob where everyone gets a try," I say with a smug smile. "I'm more of the casino where only one lucky winner gets the jackpot."

"Well I am really good at playing games," Alex smiles. "They say I have a very lucky hand."

"I'm sure you do," I walk up the stairs towards my room. "The only problem is you need more than luck to win such a prize."

As I get closer to the top of the stairs I can see Vincent giving me a strange look, but again I can't make out any of the emotions behind it. Is he mad? Sad? Angry? Annoyed?

And why the hell can't I tell?

"This is for you," he takes out a small red velvet box from his pocket. The box is made out of a wood with a golden lock at the center and a rose detailing on the edges.

It's beautiful.

"Where's the key?" I ask rubbing my finger against the lock.

"On your bed," he answers and I look up at him confused.

"Thanks," I nod before awkwardly walking away and into my room.

Why would he give me a gift?

I make my way towards my bed and at the center, I see a small black key. I sit on the bed and take a hold of it before opening the small box.

Inside the box is around twenty to thirty black screws and on top is a note.

Have fun building your bed.

Crap.

As soon as I'm about to stand up my entire bed crumbles below me causing me to hit the floor harshly.

"You mother fucken egotistical grass asses," I scream and I can hear laughter coming from downstairs.
