Ch13: Ass Kicking, Pink Wearing, Parent Cussing Girlfriend

"To marry," I say confused. "To marry who?"

"Tatianna," he answers.

What?

Oh god, his ex fiancée is in the house.

And she's drop dead gorgeous.

And I'm wearing a skirt.

Why did I wear a skirt today?

And I'm wearing pink.

Pink isn't my color. I should've wore blue.

Damn it Elliana!

"Princess," Josh takes a hold of my hand. "You're fine. Don't let her intimidate you. She's not half as amazing as you are."

She's not half as amazing as I am.

"Thank you," I smile. "Why would your family invite her?"

"They still want me to marry her," he answers. "It's the only reason why they would do it."

"They haven't changed," I frown and he nods.

"Can you do me a favor?" He asks and I nod.

"Of course," I fake a big grin and he smiles.

"Can you pretend to be my girlfriend?" He asks and my grin drops.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

They'll eat me alive in there.

I'll be the casual fish swimming along the ocean and they'll be the great white shark yelling out 'it's dinner time!'

"Please Ellie," Josh begs. "I just don't want them to push Tatianna on me."

"But Tatianna will be all mad," I answer "and then dinner will be wierd and I dont know."

"Tatianna would be happy," Josh chuckles. "She isn't like them. She's different."

"But she likes you?" I ask and he nods.

"She does," he frowns "but I don't feel the same. They're going to want to seperate you and me so that I'll be alone with her. Please do this for me. I'll owe you big time."

Just do it Elliana, what's the worst thing that can happen?

"Fine," I exhale and he grins.

"You're the best," he hugs me and I hug him back.

"Josh," we hear a yell and we quickly turn towards the door.

I see a small elderly lady with thick long white hair, a blue skirt paired with a white button up, and a huge grin on her face.

"Nana," Josh lets go of me and makes his way towards her before giving her a heartwarming hug.

"My boy," she places both her hands on his cheeks. "You've grown so much since the last time I saw you. How have you been?"

"I've been great Nana," Josh smiles and it's so great to see him like this. He looks like a little kid whose been handed a gigantic lollipop and can't seem to stop smiling.

"How's Vincent?" She asks, a mischievous smile on her face.

"He's doing better," he chuckles. "Still giving everyone a headache."

"That boy," she laughs. "He'll never learn."

"There's someone I'd like you to meet," Josh motions for me to walk towards them and I do suddenly feeling extremely shy. "This is Elliana, my girlfriend."

"Its so nice to meet you," the lady grins quickly giving my hand a shake. "You must be a fantastic young girl if you've manage to get this one on a leash."

"Nana," Josh laughs "you act like I'm some kind of ladies man."

"Are you not?" we both ask simultaneously before beginning to laugh.

"I can see why you like her," his Nana smiles at me approvingly "she doesn't take your crap."

Mhm maybe this night won't be too bad.

"Josh," we hear another voice yell and we all turn once again towards the door.

There stands a short petite women with long brown hair, big brown eyes wearing a velvet skin tight dress and a facial expression that looks like she's sucking on something extremely sour.

A beautiful women except for that bitter expression.

She must be Hanna, his mother.

"Are you going to come inside?" She questions, her eyes never leaving me as if in her head she was already analysing every cell in my body to determine whether or not I was worthy. "Or shall we continue to wait?"

"Mother," Josh smiles, a bit of actual pleasure in his face. "Nice to see you too."

"I wasn't aware that your invitation came with a plus one," she gives me a distasteful look before quickly looking away as if my appearance burned her eyes.

Spoke too soon.

This night will be one hell of a ride.

"This is Elliana," Josh gives me a reasuring look before taking a hold of my hand and interlocking fingers "my girlfriend."

As if his mother's expression wasn't terrible enough, it seems to morph into a look of unbearable pain.

"Nice to meet you," she barks quite unpleasantly at me. "Dinner is served."

With that said she turns on her bright black heel and walks back inside.

"I should go," Josh's Nana smiles. "Nice to meet you Elliana."

"You too," I smile back before she quickly makes her way back inside the house.

"You'll be fine," Josh kisses the top of my head before I lean into his chest.

What did I get myself into?

***

We're all currently sitting at the enormous dinner table that's filled with so many different plates of food that I lost count. Besides most of this food I've never seen before.

"That's everyone," Josh whispers showing me the drawing he made on my palm.

I glance down at it and see a big rectangle representing the table and the names of everyone placed where they're currently sitting.

His dad Jordan is currently sitting at the head of the table with a plate of lobster in front of him and a glass of red wine. He's a tall, built man with bright hazel eyes and dark brown hair paired a serious monotone expression. Next to him, on the right side, is a little girl with long brown hair and a smug smirk on her face, she's Arriana his sister. Besides her and directly across Josh is Tatianna who's been continuously avoiding eye contact with me.

Next to her is Penny, the aunt, who has short black shinny hair and a huge smile on her face that's getting a little creepy because all she can do is nod with a smile. Besides her is Sally, the adorable Grandma, with white curly hair and a bright pink flower pinned next to her left ear paired with a bright pink dress and pink flats.

Finally at the other side of the table is Hanna, who is glaring at her utensils probably thinking of ways to use them to decapitate me. To the left of her is James, with shinny black hair neatly combed back and and a handsome freckled face who looks like he's super glued to his cellphone. Besides him is his sister Jane, who has the same dark black hair, pretty freckled face and also can't seem to release her phone.

Next to her is me and directly across from me is Grandma Sally. Besides me is Josh who continues to hold my hand on top of the dinner table as if to make sure everyone sees it. Besides him is Jordan, his father.

"So how did you guys meet?" Grandma Sally smiles finally breaking the immensely akward silence that  came from Josh announcing our relationship.

"My parents had just reserved the empty room in their house," I laugh remembering the exact moment I first saw him. "So I took a taxi to the house and as soon as I walked in I was covered in water and feathers."

"We thought she was going to be a guy," Josh chuckles.

"So you guys are living together?" Penny questions, a big smile on her face.

"Not alone," I find myself explaining. "Vincent and a friend Alex live with us. "

"Vincent," Jane smiles looking up from her phone. "He's smoking hot. Wasn't he in a gang or something?"

Gang?

"Or something," Josh clears his throat as I turn to give him a questioning look but he dismisses it. "So how's the lobster dad?"

"It's good son," Jordan nods, his serious expression never leaving his face.

"For a girl to live alone with three guys," Hanna shakes her head. "How distasteful."

Ha...ha...ha...ha

She's is surely one tough bitter cookie.

"So tell us Josh," Jordan gives his wife a harsh glare, but she doesn't seem to care "what have you accomplished since the last time we saw each other? "

He's managed to not get married.

"I am the schools number one student," Josh smiles proudly. "I'll probably win the school science fair and I've earned enough money to buy my own car."

"That's it," Penny smiles.

"You sure know how to dissapoint son," Hanna sips her wine. "I thought you would have better accomplishments considering you gave up what you had here in exchange for something of such little value."

Are we still talking about the accomplishments?

I felt like that statement was a little personal there.

"I am very proud," Sally smiles. "You've managed to do so much on your own. Don't listen to your mother she can be crabby."

"Thanks grandma," Josh smiles, but I can tell he doesn't mean it.

"What about you Elliana?" Penny smiles. "Tell us about yourself."

"There's not much to say," I blush.

"Oh come on," Josh nudges me.

"Well," I smile. "I'm a black belt in mix martial arts. I did some painting and photography which got published in a famous online blog. I'd say I'm a fairly good student."

"Black belt in mix martial arts," James looks up. "Can you show me some cool moves?"

"I'd love to,"  I smile.

"I didn't think that was a ladies sport," Hanna smiles bitterly "but I guess everyone has a different interpretation of what a lady is."

Ouch.

"Girls can be tough," Arriana exclaims. "I want to be tough like Elliana."

"Yeah," Tatianna agrees. "I wish I knew how to fight like you do."

"Maybe its more talk than do," Jordan suggests. "How can we be sure you know how to do what you claim?"

"I wanted to show her the town lake," Josh laughs "so I went up to her room and tried waking her up. As soon as I had touched her she woke up and somehow managed to pin me on the ground within seconds."

"That's so cool," James put his phone down on the table. "I want to know how to kick someone's ass like that."

"Manners," Hanna growls not at all happy with anything that's going on.

"I think its bad ass," Sally extends her fist out to me and I fist bump her.

"Ladies should be allowed to fight like men. We are in a new generation."

"Mother," Hanna smiles "how about you show Elliana the garden?"

"I can show her," Josh objects. "I may have been gone for a while but I can still show my girlfriend around."

"Tatianna should be your girlfriend," Penny blurts out, a smile never leaving her face.

Okay, this is awkward.

"I should go," Tatianna stands up. "Its getting late and-"

"Tati sit down," Hanna barks and she complaies taking her seat once again. "James and Jane please take Arriana upstairs were going to talk with Josh."

Oh no.

"Yes aunt Hanna," both James and Jane nod before going around the table and taking a hold Arriana.

"I dont want to go," Arriana argues. "You'll just make Josh go away again."

"Go now," Hanna glares at her and Arriana quickly nods before storming away with Jane and James following behind.

"We're leaving," Josh stands up. "I am not having this talk again."

"I've never been so disappointed, " Jordan shakes his head "I thought you were smarter than this Josh."

"Exactly," Penny smiles. "You should be something better than what you are."

"I raised you better," Hanna nods. "To be with someone who deserves you."

Okay this is enough.

"Okay I'm done," I stand up.

"Elliana," Josh shakes his head, but I ignore him.

"I've sat here all night," I begin saying, but she cuts me off.

"Sit down and listen to me," Hanna begin, but this time I interrupt her.

"No you listen to me," I glare at her and she backs off. "Josh is our schools top student, he's a kind, handsome, and hard working guy who anyone would be proud of. I'm proud to have the honor to be a part of such an amazing guys life and you people don't seem to get that. You're all so blinded by money and power that you can't see the great son you have sitting in front of you. "

"If he were a great son," Jordan replies. "He would do as we say because we know what's best."

"Lets go Elliana," Josh scoffs.

They're terrible people

"I'll be right out," I nod. "I just need to use the restroom."

"Okay," he storms off slamming the front door behind him.

"Restrooms this way," Sally stands up.

"You're all terrible people," I shake my head. "You're selfish. You're ungrateful. You're rude. You're all just crappy inconsiderate assholes."

"Excuse me?" Hanna excliams.

"You heard me," I exclaim. "I understand now why Josh left. Its because you all drove him away with your crappy personalities. I may not have money or power, but I can assure you that I am worth as a person so much more than you. And Josh is worth three times that and you don't deserve him. He's better off getting the hell away from you because it's made him a much better person. "

"I am viewed as a great person" Penny smiles.

"If the world were blind," I say "what would you do? I mean considering that the only thing that would count would be your rotten insides. I doubt anyone would see you as anything besides the terrible person that you are."

"Well said," Sally claps a huge grin on her face. "I've been trying to tell them that their entire lives, but you managed to get it our more clearly."

"Thank you," I grin. "I'm going to go now and I hope I never step a foot inside this house again it's stinks of rotten apples in here."

With that I proudly make my way towards the front door feeling extremely confident in my outfit.

Pink is definatly my color.
