Ch9: The Slut, The Grass Ass, And What The Hell Was That?

"Taylor," I say for the fifth time "please answer the phone. Look I just want to know what's going on and that everything's okay."

"Still nothing," Alex asks as he walks down the stairs in his light blue football uniform.

It makes his eyes stand out.

"Nope," I frown "radio silence."

"You'll see them tomorrow at school," he says. "Anyways I'll see you later I have practice."

"Okay," I nod as I begin searching for the control.

Grey's anatomy sounds pretty good right now.

"Want to come?" He asks. "You can sit on the bleachers and afterward we can get something to eat."

Should I?

No, all his football friends will be there and I don't want to intrude.

"I don't feel all that good," I shake my head. "Maybe next time?"

"Absolutely," he smiles before walking out the house.

Okay, where is that controller at?

"Princess," I hear Josh call and I know he's running down the stairs.

I'm tired of correcting them. My name is Elliana.

"What?" I question turning to face him.

"I talked to my family," he says "and the dinner is all set up for Saturday."

Oh yeah, so after me and Vincent talked I went up to Josh's room. I told him I would meet his family and that I'd be more than happy to be there for him if he needed it.

So there's no backing down now, right?

"Sounds great," I fake a big smile. "Saturday is the best dining day."

Really Elliana?

Saturday is the best dining day.

Face palm.

"Yeah," he nods confused. "Anyways I have to go. I have this meeting for the science fair."

"Cool," I smile before standing up and searching for the control under the couch.

Where the hell is it?

"You wanna come?" He asks. "It'll be quick and then afterward we can go get some ice cream or something."

Should I?

No, what if Alex finds out I went with Josh and not him?

I don't want to cause any trouble.

"I don't really feel all that well," I tell him. "Maybe next time?"

"Of course," he smiles before walking out the house. I quickly get up and begin removing the couch seats to see if the control might be under them.

Nothing.

Ugh, where can it be?

"Kitten," Vincent walks out the kitchen.

Elliana.

"What's up?" I ask placing the seats back.

"Here," I hear him say and as I turn around to face him I see a dark object coming towards me.

"Wha-" I duck and the object slams into the wall.

"You're welcome," Vincent says and I glare at him as I pick up the black controller he threw at my head.

"What the bloody hell is your problem?" I ask. "You could've cracked my head open."

"I'm going out," he shrugs not caring about what he just did.

"Where are you going?" I ask curiously.

"Out," he replies opening the door.

"Fine," I answer turning the TV on.

Is he going to invite me?

"Okay," he walks out the house closing the door harshly behind him.

Of course not because Vincent is too bad ass for any of that, right?

Dickwab.

I'm about to put on Netflix when I hear a knock on the door.

Who could that be?

"Who is it?," I yell as I make my way towards the door.

"Pipper," he yells and I open the door as fast as I can.

There he is with his messy curly hair and goofy sheepish grin on his face. Except he has a black eye and a red busted lip.

"What the hell happened to you?" I ask pulling him inside the house.

"It's not big deal," he pulls free. "I just got in a fight with this guy, but I'm fine."

"When did this happen?" I question looking at the bruising around his eye. It's a faded purple which means it probably happened a few days to a week ago.

"Last week," he answers. "An old businesses associate who was mad at me."

"Do you need anything?" I ask as he takes a seat. "Some ice or something?"

"No, no, I'm fine," he smiles. "Taylor already gave me some pain medication and ice."

"Taylor," I grin. "What's up with you two?"

"Nothing," he smiles back and I know he's lying.

So Taylor and him?

I like it!

"She was just being nice," he shrugs. "I needed someone to talk to and she was there."

She was there. What about me? Where was I?

"Why didn't you come talk to me?" I frown. "I'm here for you too if you need anyone."

"I did come," he says. "It's just that you were jumping off the roof with Josh and I didn't want to intrude so I left. Casually I actually happened to crash into Taylor and that's how I ended up talking to her instead."

It was the day Josh took me to the lake.

God, I'm a terrible friend.

"I'm so sorry Pipper," I take a hold of his hand. "You should've called me and I would've dropped everything to talk to you. You need to know that no matter what I'm doing or who I'm with I'll make to find time to be there for you."

"Thank you," he smiles. "I've just been having a really tough time lately."

I should ask him about it, right? Or do I give him some space?

I should give him time he'll tell me when he thinks he should.

"I know how to make you feel better," I bite my lip, a plan already forming in my head.

"I don't like that look," he laughs. "How?"

"Prank?" I grin.

***

"Thanks for letting me spend the night," Pipper smiles as he drops a blanket and pillow next to my bed.

"You're welcome," I smile. "Like I said I'm here for you."

"Shorty," I hear a yell and I know it's Alex.

Dumb nicknames

"Coming," I roll my eyes before I get out of my room and run down the stairs.

"Angels are real, " he grins as I walk down the last step.

He's so freaking adorable.

"Shut up," I say trying to be annoyed, but in all honesty, I'm kind of internally blushing.

"Let's have our date tomorrow," he smiles and I pretend to think about it.

"Fine," I exhale a large breath.

"Don't pretend like you're not excited to have me alone somewhere," he smirks and I roll my eyes.

"Bye Tatianna," we hear a voice as the door opens and Josh comes into view his phone against his ear.

Who's Tatianna?

"Hey Josh," Alex says casually.

"Hey," he shoves his phone in his pocket and runs his hand through his hair.

He's stressed. Frowny face.

"How was the meeting?" I ask and he takes a large breath.

"Good," he throws himself on the couch.

"That's great," I start slowly making my way back upstairs.

Pipper is still in my room. I'd completely forgotten about him.

"Did Vincent leave already?" Josh asks turning to look back at me and I nod.

"Yeah," I answer. "He left like five minutes after you."

Where is Vincent? It's Sunday night and almost midnight yet he's still not back.

"Where is he?" I ask casually. "He didn't say where he was going."

As soon as I ask the question they turn to look at each other as if making sure neither of them opens their mouth.

Is it a secret?

"What is it?" I question worried "is he in trouble?"

"No," Alex shakes his head. "He's just out and we have a deal about not talking about it with anyone."

"Sorry princess," Josh apologizes and I can tell he actually feels bad.

What's the big deal about telling me? I won't tell anyone.

Ugh, I guess I'll have to find out from Vincent.

"Let's watch a movie," Josh exclaims trying his best to change the mood.

"I can't," I say remembering Pipper.

"Why not?" Alex frowns.

"Bair," Pipper yells from upstairs and I cringe looking at Alex and Josh reaction.

Fuck.

"That's why" Alex glares at me. "You're already busy."

"Don't be a fucktwat," I glare at him as I hear Pipper's footsteps behind me. "He's my friend and if I want him to spend the night he will. "

"It's fine," Pipper says behind me. "I was just going to tell you Victor called and canceled. "

"So he's just your friend," Josh chuckles. "The one who spends the night?"

"A privileged friend, right?" Alex says bitterly and I'm completely bewildered.

What is wrong with them? Are they calling me a slut?

"You're both fucken assholes," I exclaim. "You might as well call me an easy slut while you're at it."

"I'll leave," Pipper says and I take a hold of his arm.

"I'm coming with you," I say. "We can go to Taylor's place. "

I hope we can go to Taylor's place.

"Princess," Josh stands up "we didn't mean to."

"I have your phone," Pipper hands it to me and I shove it in my pocket.

"Have a goodnight," I say opening the house door and walking out with Pipper behind me.

"Shorty," Alex calls after me and I try me best to fight back tears.

They called me a slut.

What is their problem?

"Just leave her alone," Pipper yells wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

***

"Of course," Taylor grins as she shows us the way to her room. "We can have a fun sleepover."

"Sounds good," I nod, not feeling very good. "Where are your parents?"

"Out of town," she throws some blankets on the floor beside her bed. "Pipper will sleep on the ground and Elliana you can sleep in the bed with me."

Taylor's room is exactly what you'd expect from a girly girl's room. Her walls are a bright pink and all her decorations seem to be white with bright silver sparkles. The bed sheet covers of her queen sized bed are the only item in the room without pink or sparkles.

"I think I'm just gonna knock out," I say. "Thanks for letting me come over."

"You're welcome," she grins. "Those guys are such douchebags."

"Yeah," Pipper nods. "They're assholes."

"Yeah they're grass asses," I agree still not feeling any better.

I should just sleep it off.

"Goodnight," I smile at them before laying down on Taylor's bed.

"Polar bears are white," Pipper argues and I can see Taylor glaring at him from the corner of my eyes.

"They have transparent fur," she bites back.

"Class be quiet," Ms. Edwards stands up and begins writing on the board. "We have five weeks left until the class project is due. Remember you need to make a complete presentation on a historical event you find important. Please do good research I don't want any baloney."

"Baloney," Pipper chuckles.

"You will need five educational sources," she continues before the door opens and she's interrupted. Vincent walks in looking absolutely terrible.

His hair is messy and he looks like he woke up a few seconds ago.

Fuck, I forgot about the prank.

"The prank, " I tell Pipper as Vincent glares the life out of me.

"Glad you decided to join us, Mr. Halls," Ms. Edwards rolls her eyes. "Why are you late?"

"My multiple alarms wouldn't shut up," he spits out. "Isn't that right Elliana?"

I can see the entire room turn to look at me and I swallow harshly.

"I was at Taylor's last night," I answer. "So I wouldn't know, but I assume that the one stuck on the roof was quite a hassle to shut off just like my bed was a hassle to rebuild."

"The next one will be worse than a simple hassle," he says bitterly and I smirk.

Elliana: 3

Devil boys: 2

"We'll see," I say and it's as if everyone in the room is just looking at us waiting for something to happen.

***

"What was the prank?" Taylor asks following me to my locker.

"Pipper and I hid alarms all over each of their rooms," I explain. "One under the bed, one in their clothes, and the best one was the one glued to the roof above their bed. Each alarm was set to go off thirty minutes after the previous one."

"How many alarms did you put?" She asks.

"We put ten in each room," I laugh. "And we had the first one go off at three in the morning and the last one went off at 7:30."

"That's just evil," she laughs.

"They made me rebuild my bed," I defend myself. "This was good payback."

"Hey shorty," I hear one of the dreaded voices.

"I better go," I can see Taylor glaring at him "before I end up punching these two douchebags."

"Nice to see you too," I hear Josh yell after Taylor as she walks away.

"What do you guys want?" I ask turning to face them. They both look terrible with dark bags under their eyes and ragged messy hair.

"To apologize," Josh states. "We acted very poorly and we're sorry."

"Yeah," Alex agrees. "We're both very sorry. You didn't deserve any of that."

Should I forgive them?

They do sound sincere.

"It's fine," I smile bit tightly. "All is well besides I got a good payback last night."

All is well, is it?

Ugh, I don't know.

"You did," Josh frowns. "We were running around the rooms trying to stop all the alarms."

"It was genius," Alex laughs. "We'll get you back good tho."

"We will see," I close my locker.

"Kitten," I hear Vincent behind me.

"What's up?" I turn to face him.

"So shorty we're all good?" Alex asks and I nod trying to hide my uncertainty.

"We're all good," I say.

"Great," Josh chirps and I hear them walk away.

"You're not good," Vincent comments opening his locker.

"We are good," I argue.

"No you're not," he says suddenly moving towards me.

"Yes, we are," I slam into the lockers causing a loud sound making a few people stop and look at us.

"You know what they said isn't true," he speaks, his breath hitting my lips. "You're not easy or a slut."

His face is so close to mine that I can almost just move slightly forward and his lips would be on mine.

So tempting.

Him with his deep green eyes and his messy brown hair that looks so soft I can almost run my hands through it. Then his strong rigid jaw that makes me want to grab it and pull him towards me to close the space between us.

"Elliana," he breathes his voice getting husky. "Don't believe what they say."

"O...I...no," I spit out not being able to form a complete sentence.

"I'll do research for the project," he moves away. "Give it to you tonight."

"Okay," he closes his locker and walks away.

What was that?

And why the hell is my heart racing?
