Nkosiyabo POV
Have you ever had nothing to say in a situation that requires your say ? Well that's how I felt last week when they told me that I am supposed to marry Hlelo and it's something that has to happen as in now. Well it now makes sense considering how Hlelo acted when she was in hospital when she told me that I knew she was my chosen one and yet I didn't say anything about it. At first I thought it was just another girl wanting my riches but then I remembered that she has everything that she needs.
Today I am supposed to be meeting with her so that we can discuss this whole thing without our elders being involved but first I have to start somewhere. I just hope that whoever who I will meet up with will give me clear answers before my meeting with Hlelo.
I decided to not tell anyone where I was going because I feel like they will take offense wherelse I'm just trying to make sure. I drove to this place, it was far away from the village and on my way I heard someone telling me to stop but I ignored it thinking that I am being delusional. I also received a call from Hlelo which I wanted to also ignore but I didn't.
" Hi " I said acting as if nothing is happening.
Hlelo: " Nkosiyabo ukuphi? ( Nkosiyabo where are you? )"
Me : " Ungenaphi wena ukuthi ngikuphi akukufuni lokho angithi umhlangano wethu usemini and manje kusekuseni ( How is that any of your business and you shouldn't worry about my whereabouts my meeting with you is in the afternoon right now it's still in the morning.) "
Hlelo: " Nx" [ line dropped]
Hlelo dropped the call while we were still talking and I can't help it but to feel very angry but also amused by the way she responded.
Hlelolwenkosi's POV
I can't believe my sleep was cut short because of some stupid person thinking that my family and I are after his wealth and status. I mean we have it all , my mom has worked very hard to create a name for us that's why she is able to relocate anytime , it's within her caliber.
So I was woken up by a voice telling me to stop Nkosiyabo from where he is going because there is danger. I called him multiple times before he answered my call and in I found myself regretting it. The guy was so rude to a point that I just hanged up to avoid any conflicts. I just wish he could break a hand just to remind him that he is not all that.
" Uyazi uma engafa uNdabezitha awusoze wakuthola ukuthula. ( You know if Ndabezitha does you will never find peace. ) " Thingolwezulu said
I can never understand why sis Thingo respects Nkosiyabo like the way she is doing even in his absence, she still acknowledges that fact that he his still a king.
" Well sis Thingo, your so called Ndabezitha told me that it's non of my business to know about his whereabouts so I don't care what happens to him. He can die for all I care. " I said
" Trust me you don't mean that trust me because if it happens, you will be first one to cry , even losing your mind. " Thingolwezulu said
I really don't understand why must I suffer for someone who doesn't listen.
Me : "Â Manje kwamele ngezeni ukuze ngingahlanyi ( so what must I do in order for me to not go crazy. ) "
Thingolwezulu: " Hamba uyemanzini bazokutshela bona. ( Go to the river, they will tell you. )"
How I wish I was not me at this moment yoh I could do anything to exchange my life for peace. I went to my bedroom and wore my white bodycon dress with my white doek. My heart started to beat rapidly and at that moment I knew that I had to hurry up and get to the river.
I didn't even inform my mom that I am leaving. I was just in a hurry to get to the river. When I got there , the river was full of white sheets and there was mist all over the river. Whenever there's mist or white sheets, I know that there's is Mkhulu's presence.
" Ndabezitha" I said while kneeling down.
If anything, the ancestors requires respect and if it your great , great, great grandmother or grandfather just know that you are always sliding on thin ice hence I am trying by all means to show respect.
" Nezani Dumezweni ( what are you guys doing Dumezweni) " his voice echoed
Dumezweni is my ancestral name that I was given by my great grandmother and it had been a while since I was called by it. Mkhulu calling me by Dumezweni mean he is very angry.
" Mkhulu ngize ngathola ukuthi ubani ukumele ngimshade kodwa sobabili besingakulindelanga lokho. Namhlanje sinomhlango wokuthi sizokhuluma ngayo yonke lento kodwa umlingani wam ukhethe ukuya enyakeni ngoba ekholwa ukuthi mina no mndeni wami sifuna izinto zakhe. Njengoba ngila mkhulu ngizomcelela ushwele , ngithi ngicela umxolela. Ndabezitha ( Mkhulu I found out who I am supposed to marry and we were both not expecting that. We have a meeting today to discuss this whole thing but my partner decided to go to a traditional healer because he believes that my family and I are after his wealth. I am here mkhulu to plead on his behalf, please have mercy, please forgive him. ) " I said
Mkhulu : " Inkinga yenu zingane nicabanga ukuthi ngizozwa ngani. Umtshele ukuthi ngiyayifuna imbuzi yokuxolisa futhi ngifuna anihlawule ngokuni gagula ngenhlamba ( Your problem kids is that you think you guys are going to tell me what to do. You must tell him that I want a goat for an apology and he must also pay the damages for insulting you guys. ) "
Me : Ngiyakuzwa mkhulu, ngizowu dlulisa umlayezo kodwa mkhulu ngiyazicelela ukuthi ngingaze ngishawe ngenxa yenzo zomunye ebe ngangitshelanga. ( I hear you mkhulu, I will pass on the message but mkhulu can you please not punish me for someone else's actions when I was not informed. ) "
" [Chuckling]Â Hamba uyekhaya Dumezweni sekulungile ( Go home Dumezweni, it's all alright. ) " Mkhulu said before leaving.
Mkhulu did not give me an approval which means I'm still going to be punished for Nkosiyabo's action Nx. Why couldn't they just give me someone else?
On my way home I decided to call just to find out where he is even though I know he's just an as***le. The guy even took time answering the call
" Nkosiyabo where are you? " I said shouting in the phone
I am unable to contain my anger because I might be punished for something that I didn't do and yoh when the ancestors punish you, they show you flames.
" Hello who am I speaking to ? " A female spoke
" You are speaking to Nkosiyabo's fiancee who are you?"
" You are speaking to Nomathemba I am a traffic cop and your fiance was in a accident but he was taken by his girlfriend since he was okay just broke his hand. The girlfriend said that she will take him to the hospital. " The female said
" What is the name of the girlfriend ? " I asked
" She said her name is Queen or Queens somewhere there. "
" Thanks a lot mam " I said before I cut the call
" Bamuthathile kwamele uphuthume. ( They have taken him hurry up ) " A sudden voice said
I can't really explain my emotions right now. I am just tired like I am exhausted. It is now my responsibility to get Nkosiyabo wherelse he drove himself to that place and the worst part is that I need to get involved in his business Nx.
I ran home to inform sis Thingo about Nkosiyabo's kidnapping only to find her waiting for me. Since I was already in my sacred attire , we went straight to emsamo.
" Masithandaze ( let's pray ) " Thingo said
We always start with praying before doing anything because we know that God is above everything and everyone including the ancestors.
" Baba wethu osemazulwini siza kuwe sizocela usizo. Baba izilingo ziqalile zivungusa empilo yam. Ngizocela kuwe ukuthi usisize kulempi esikuyo njengamanje. Ngicela usikhanyisele ukuthi ukuphi uNkosiyabo Zulu ngengama lika Jesu krestu Amen ( Our father who art in Heaven we come before you in need of your help. Father our enemies have started to disrupt my life. I ask before you to help us in this war. Please show us where is Nkosiyabo Zulu in Jesus name Amen. ) " I prayed
Thingolwezulu also said her own prayers before we burned the incense to appease the ancestors. We spent almost 2 hours waiting for any signs but they kept quiet.
The day is almost over and still there's nothing. I am feeling devastated especially because I haven't told Siphosihle about her brothers disappearance. I just hope that we find Nkosiyabo before I get to tell Siphosihle. The poor child might be devastated.
