The Great Escape

Elisha.

The moment I got home I knew something was wrong. I knew it. I could feel Elijah pushing me out and I could just feel that something was off. I had been zoned out from the moment Elijah left, my father was still telling Isaiah he didn't belong there and should leave. My mother wasn't saying a word but you could see the anguish written all over her face.

I offered to drive Isaiah anywhere he wanted but he declined, I had to watch my brother leave. My brother. It even sounds weird.

"Nicholas!?" I yelled as I opened our door, snapping back to reality.

I wasn't ready for the scene I saw before me as soon as the door swung open. There in my living room was Nicholas who I had clearly expected to see but who I didn't and could have never expected to be in my home was Alexander Russo, his twin and two others that looked more or less like him.

"What is happening here?" I voiced my confusion.

"You must be Elisha. The twin." One Russo said. This Russo would definitely pass as a mass murderer. I couldn't help the instinctive step back I took upon coming face-to-face with him.

"Uhm, I guess. And you are?"

"Axel." He answered, "And this over here would be Abel and Nathaniel. I assume you know the mass murderer who attacked your Pack, Alex." He pointed at them as he introduced them. The only one that bothered waving was the twin.

"Ah ha." I nodded, "What are you all doing in my home?"

"Looking for your sister."

My heart sunk, I knew something was wrong. What did she do?

"Why? What happened, where is she?" I rattled off, scared of the answer.

"She left." Nicholas filled me in.

"You've got to be kidding me. Why the fuck?" The palm of my hand met my forehead.

Why is she always making stupid irrational decisions? That had always been a downfall of hers when something she cannot handle occurs she panics, overthinks the situation and jumps to the first 'solution' that pops into her mind.

Elijah Vilakazi cannot for the life of her, sit and talk to someone and get to a peaceful, rational solution. She jumps at the first thought, shooting down whatever comes next – more sensible or not. Once her mind is made up, that's that on that.

I've always known it would bring her no good and I was currently being proved correct. I understand her fear but her execution is way off. This was not the way to deal with this problem.

"Why are you here and not out there, looking for her?" I questioned Alexander.

If looks could kill.

"I'm not going to send my men out on a wild goose chase. I was waiting for your arrival. That way I know where she is and I can go to her exact location instead of starting a giant pointless fucking search."

He stepped closer, "If you're trying to insinuate that I don't care about your sister, my mate, enough to look for her. I do hope you take it the fuck back because I am holding on to my wolf by a thread and bullshit accusations like that could really not just set me off but set him off. So, tread carefully sweetheart."

How the hell is Elijah never shitting bricks whenever she's near this man? He is the epitome of intimidating. Throughout that entire rant, all I wanted to do was apologise but I was afraid interrupting him would only set him off further.

"Sheesh, I apologise. I'm pissed off too, okay? I'm sorry. I don't know where she is. She's blocking me out. Can't we follow her scent?"

"She masked it," Nathaniel said.

"Great 'friends' she's got here." Nicholas scoffed.

"I told her I wouldn't help." Nathaniel said, "She masked it with his."

Alexander Russo's head turned, "Why the fuck didn't you mention that earlier? Damnit, Nathaniel."

"Maybe we could –" The twin began but was cut off.

"I need you to shut the fuck up because you blocked me out and now she's gone. My fucking mate is gone." Alexander Russo seethed.

I was so scared, I wanted to shit myself. I never want to be in a room with – hopefully, this is – all of the Russo's again. I can't handle it, definitely attending Elijah's Ceremony in spirit.

"We will find her," I whispered. I wanted to say it louder but I was a little too scared. So, it came out as a whisper.

"We better." Alexander snaps.

'Don't come after me. Please, Elisha. I know you're with him. I know he's looking for me but I don't want him to find me. I'm sorry to do this but mom and dad will never forgive me. They will hate me.'

"She just linked me. She doesn't want us looking for her." I say, shaking my head still disapproving of this.

'It's not him. It's our parents. Please make sure he knows that.'

"She says it's not your fault, Alexander. But our parents." I sigh.

"What?" He looked baffled.

"She left because she's afraid that her parents will exile her or let her be killed because she's mated to you," Nicholas explains.

"Why would she think that they're her parents?"

I scoffed, "They exiled Isaiah. Anything's possible. They still don't believe he didn't –  you!" I pointed at Axel, "Oh my goddess. All of you." I backed up.

They were all in my home, every last one of them that were responsible for my brothers' absence in my life.

"Oh, he told you the story." Axel rolled his eyes, "He never does it justice though. You should let me tell it."

"How could you do that? I think I might throw up just looking at you all. I swear, if you get my sister into shit there will be freaking hell to pay. She is my everything, I will lose my shit if you pull stunts like that with her." I say.

I won't have my sister getting hurt because of these reckless, heartless wolves. They're all bad news. If she weren't mated to Alexander Russo I would be so much happier.

Alex smiled, "That's a little sad. Seeing as you have a mate who should be your everything. Especially since I'll be Elijah's everything pretty soon."

Axel laughed.

"Why are you so insufferable?" I mumble.

"I found her," Nathaniel said, walking toward the front door.

The atmosphere automatically switched, everyone giving him their undivided attention, he ignored all the eyes on him and made his way out the house towards his car. Alexander reached him within a blink of an eye.

"Where is she?"

"You don't want to continue being a dick to her sister? I thought you were preoccupied with that." Nathaniel replied, a bit defensively.

"Now's not the time for this, Nate." Alexander snapped.

"It's actually not. Because she could leave at any moment so I need to reach her quickly."

My eyes instantly moved to see Alexander's response, why would Nathaniel feel the need to be the one to reach her first? She isn't his mate.

Does he have a crush on his brothers' mate?

"You? You don't need to reach her, I do! You're not her fucking mate!" Alexander seethed.

"Calm down and get into the car Alex." His twin said.

Without another word he got into the car, the other brothers' followed. I got into a separate car with Nicholas and we followed the Russo brothers. I silently hoped we weren't too late.

* * *

"Where? Nathaniel,I don't see a damn thing." Alexander snapped.

"There!" I yelled, nearly tripping over my foot, "Elijah!" I yelled trying to get her attention.

She was with someone. The figure was helping her climb onto a boat. I couldn't believe she was about to leave with some stranger. Where the heck would she even go? Who would even tell Mom and Dad about Alexander? Surely she still had plenty of time left until they found out.

Alexander got out of the car and growled. It was loud and dominant. I know she heard it because she hurried up. I was running at full speed and I know Alexander was pushing his freaking limits because he was plenty of steps ahead of me. Almost like a blur.

He wasn't fast enough though. Elijah made it. She slipped away from his grasp. It was the great escape. I don't really know Alexander but anyone could tell that he was incredibly hurt and angered. He let out a howl, it was deep and menacing.

"I'm sorry!" She yelled, "I had to do it. For me." And the boat sped away.

We watched her until everything looked the same. Until we couldn't make out sky from sea and ships from anything. She got away. She escaped Alexander freaking Russo. I didn't think it would last long though. I knew he would stop at nothing to get her back.
