Putnam slammed on the arm of his wheelchair, looking rather ticked off. âHe disagrees? He thinks heâs the big cheese around here? As long as the Blanchet family has me, thereâs no way that whippersnapper can just do as he pleases!â
âYouâ¦â Marissa looked worried. She wanted to convince this stubborn old man but was interrupted by a voice from behind.
âIâm sorry, Putnam Blanchet. Iâve brought negative impact and loss to the Blanchet Corporation and the Blanchet family, but rest assured, I will do my best to restore the familyâs reputation. I will also do everything in my power to compensate for the losses.â
Hearing Ellinorâs voice, the fiery Putnam paused, then looked up at Ellinor, his frown deepening.
Marissa and Veronica also instinctively turned their heads.
They saw Ellinor and Theo standing not far behind them.
Manssa was slightly embarrassed, âEllinor, Theo, when did you guys come over? Why didnât you say anything when you came in?â
Theo nonchalantly said. âWe just got here.â
Putnam scrutinized Ellinor, âYou said youâre here to compensate for our familyâs losses? How do you plan to do that?â
Ellinor remained cool. âI canât prove my unaccomplished things right now, but I can assure you, if I canât fulfill my promise, Iâll leave the Blanchet family on my own accord. You wonât have to kick me out.â
Putnam looked at her determined face, his puzzled gaze deepening. He thought, âThis little girl is too cocky!â
But the words that came out of his mouth were, âFine! Iâll wait and see how you pull it off!â
Ellinor nodded at Putnam, then turned to Marissa and smiled slightly. âIâm a bit tired. Iâm going up to rest. You guys should also rest early.â
Marissa felt sorry for her, so she gently said, âOK, go ahead. Ellinor, Putnam is just a grumpy old man.
Donât take his words to heart. I know youâre a good kid!â
Ellinor smiled and nodded at Marissa, then went upstairs.
Putnam snorted, âSheâs got some nerve!â
Theo stood there, looking coldly at him, âGrandpa, you should get some rest.â
After saying that, he also followed Ellinor upstairs.
Putnam glared at his grandson. âWhatâs this kidâs deal? Does he think Iâm nosy?â he thought.
Marissa gave her stubborn old man a glare, âYou! At your age, canât you intervene less in the affairs of the kids?â
Putnam scowled. âThis matter has affected the entire Blanchet familyâs reputation. Do you think I want to meddle?â
âAlright, alright. Itâs late now. Go to sleep! I believe Theo can handle this issue.â
Marissa couldnât convince her stubborn husband, nor could she make him listen to her advice. She didnât want to argue anymore, so she pushed his wheelchair back to their room.
Veronica sighed and returned to her room as well.
She would undoubtedly be gloating over Theoâs misfortune if it had happened in the past and suspect Ellinor of causing problems for the Blanchets.
