âLetâs get outta here, Rosiel Those Blanchet folks are heartless. Iâll find another way to seek justice for you!â
Soon, nothing could be heard but the vulgar swearing of the middle-aged woman and her daughterâs sobbing.
Once the middle-aged woman and her daughter had been driven away, the Mendoza trio were left standing dumbly in the living room.
Veronica, with her hands on her hips, walked over impatiently, âWhatâs the holdup? Are you still planning on crashing at the Blanchetsâ home for the night? The Mendozas finally snapped back to reality and hastily got up.
Before leaving, Arnold, looking worried, said, âMarissa, that mother-daughter duo once came to our home to stir up trouble, demanding that we take responsibility. We had no choice but to bring them to Ellinor today⦠If they do anything to offend the Blanchets, we, the Mendozas, wash our hands of it?â
After looking at the timid Arnold, Marissa was hard-pressed to believe that such a man was Ellinorâs foster father.
They were totally different. Ellinor didnât resemble any of the Mendozas at all.
Thank god Ellinor wasnât influenced by this familyâs lowliness, or else a perfectly good kid wouldâve been ruined.
Not just Marissa, but Veronica too looked down on Arnold and waved him away in disgust, âOff you go!
Scram! Donât get in our way!â
Theo didnât even bother with Arnold; instead, he softly said to the little girl in his arms, âBelinda just called wanting to talk to you, she said she couldnât reach your phone.â
Ellinor patted herself down, realizing sheâd left her phone behind, âI left my phone in my room, so I didnât catch the call. What does she want?â
Theo shook his head slightly, âDidnât say. She said sheâd only tell you.â
âThen let go of me; Iâll go upstairs and call her back.â
âWeâll go together.â
With that, Theo rose, picking her up with him.
Ellinor blushed instantly and began complaining, Theo, Grandmaâs still here! What are you doing? Put me down now!â
Theo wasnât fazed. He looked up to ask his grandmother, âGrandma, do you mind if I carry Ellinor upstairs?â
Marissa was too happy to mind after seeing Theo and Ellinor this affectionate. The more affectionate they were, the closer she was to her wish of cradling her great-grandchild.
Marissa laughed, âNot at all! How could I mind you newlyweds being all lovey-dovey? Ellinor, Theoâs finally coming to his senses; donât be shy!â
In his arms, Ellinor twitched her lips, âGrandmaâ¦â
She was so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a hole and bury herself in it. Even worse, she was being carried by Theo, so she wasnât even able to reach the ground with her toes.
