As Ellinor stepped out of the car, Patricia rolled down the window and mumbled something cryptic to her, finishing with a âGood luck, Ellinor,â before instructing the driver to pull away, Ellinor squinted slightly as she watched the Howard familyâs car slowly drive away.
The confidence in Patriciaâs expression made her unsure whether Patricia really knew the crucial reason why Theo didnât want to get their marriage certificate.
Without thinking further, Ellinor turned around and entered the Blanchet familyâs residence.
As soon as she walked into the yard, Ellinor spotted a super-long luxury RV that she had never seen before parked there.
Who could it be?
Just as she was wondering, a servant approached her, âMadam, youâre back! Today, Putnam Blanchet and Marissa Blanchet returned and were looking for you. We told them you were out, and Marissa seemed quite disappointed. Please go in quickly!â
Putnam Blanchet and Marissa Blanchet were back?
Ellinor felt a bit nervous; sheâd met Marissa but never Putnam.
As she entered the house, she heard Marissa Blanchetâs warm and affectionate voice.
âEllinor!â
Marissa got up and walked over, her eyes full of joy. She gently held Ellinorâs arms and frowned, âEllinor, itâs only been a few months, but you seem to have lost weight. That wonât do; you have to eat more! Iâm not leaving this time, so Iâll cook delicious meals every day and fatten you up!â
Ellinor remembered how Marissaâs previous attempts at feeding her left her feeling unwell and gave a helpless smile, ââ¦Thank you, Grandmother.â
Veronica Blanchet sat to the side, her face full of jealousy, âGrandma is now all about Ellinor and ignoring me!â
It seemed that Moran had already finished tutoring her for the day and had left.
Marissa glanced at her, âIâve been doting on you for years, and now youâre jealous of Ellinor?â
Veronica pouted. She wasnât as resistant to Ellinor as before, and she wasnât mad when she saw her grandmother treating Ellinor well.
Marissa took Ellinor to an elderly man in a wheelchair, smiled, and introduced her, âLook! This is Theoâs wife! Isnât she as cute and beautiful as I told you?â
Ellinor looked at Putnam and politely said, âHello, Grandfather.â
Putnam had a very dignified look. Although he looked a bit weak sitting in the wheelchair, his aura of power was still obvious and commanded respect.
The old man looked at Ellinor from head to toe, finally his gaze landed on Ellinorâs face. He seemed to find something wrong and frowned, âShe doesnât look like the girl in the documentsâ¦â
Marissa suddenly coughed twice, âYou need to take your medicine! Veronica, go get your grandfatherâs medicine and pour him a glass of water!â
Veronica was in a good mood today, so she stood up and went to do it.
Marissa cut off Putnam mid-sentence, not allowing Putnamâs topic to continue any further. Marissa smiled tenderly at Ellinor and asked, âEllinor, what were you up to just now?â
