Ellinorâs words made Patriciaâs brow furrow, and she was struggling to keep up her seemingly âinnocentâ smile!
She couldnât get any answers from Balfour, so she tried to dig up some info from Ellinor, and it seemed like Ellinor was hinting that her status at Balfourâs was no more.
Patricia didnât want Ellinor to see her discomfort from the sarcasm, so she answered in a forced, calm manner, âHmm, you make a good point, Ellinor. I guess Iâll have to ask my brother.â
After saying this with a smile, Patricia turned her head to look out the car window with a cunning expression on her face, and she even touched her teeth.
âEllinor, weâre at the company. Iâm going to bring lunch to my brother now. Do you want to come with me?â
Ellinor lazily leaned back in her seat, seemingly taking a little snooze, showing no interest in this. âNo need, Iâll just wait for you here. But you better hurry. I donât have much patience today.â
Patricia didnât insist on inviting her anymore, and she just politely said, âAll right, then you wait here, Ellinor. Donât go anywhere, okay? I have some stuff about Theo to tell you later!â
Ellinor replied indifferently, not showing any interest.
Patricia gave her a silent glance, then took the packed food and walked into the Howard Group.
In the Howard Group.
At the entrance to the CEOâs office.
Quinton stopped Patricia and said, âMs. Howard, what are you doing here again? Didnât Mr. Howard already say he doesnât want you to keep bringing him lunch?â
Patricia gently shook her head, âI donât mind! I donât have much to do at home anyway, and my brother is so busy every day. I worry heâs not eating properly⦠Quinton, can you go in and tell my brother that I brought his favorite dish today and that he should eat it while itâs still hot!â
Quinton frowned, reaching out his hand, âMs. Howard, hand me the food. Once Mr. Howard is done with his work, Iâll bring it in for him.â
Patricia obviously wasnât willing to do this. Instead of handing over the food, she looked at Quinton with doe-eyed innocence, âQuinton, is my brother really that busy? I canât even see him for a moment? My brother hasnât been home for several days; I miss himâ¦â
Quinton looked uncomfortable. Mr. Howard had been working overtime at the company for the past few days, not returning home because he didnât want to see Ms. Howard and hear her explanations about the things that gave him a headache.
âMr. Howard really is busy with work these days. Heâs been working overtime at the company. But you donât have to worry; Iâll remind him to eat on time. You can just give me the food.â
Patricia seemed doubtful of Quintonâs words, her tears nearly falling, âQuinton, I know it was wrong to lie to you before, and I understand that it was wrong to scheme against Ellinor to win Theoâs heart. I know I was wrong, and Iâve corrected my mistakes. I just ran into Ellinor on the road. I politely invited her into the car, planning to have the driver take a detour to take her home. Iâve corrected my mistakes.
Why doesnât my brother want to see me?â
Quintonâs expression changed slightly, âYou mean Ms. Mendoza is here too?â
Patricia wanted Quinton to see that she really knew she was wrong, that she had deeply reflected, and corrected her actions, hoping Quinton could put in a few good words for her to Balfour.
So, she mentioned her good deed of helping Ellinor to prove her change of heart.
However, Quinton seemed to have missed the point; his concern was that Ellinor was here too.
Patricia was puzzled, then she nodded, âYes! I just ran into Ellinor on the road, and I saw her walking alone. So I invited her into the car, intending to give her a lift. Quinton, let me see my brother, please.
Iâll leave as soon as I see him. Ellinor is still waiting downstairs for me to take her home!â
