Ellinor said, âMy kin.â
Chase frowned, then chuckled, âEllinor, we grew up together in the countryside. Who are you kidding?
You donât have any relatives! I bet itâs Mr. Blanchetâs relatives, right? Ellinor, you treat Mr. Blanchetâs family like your own!â
Ellinor glared at him, âYouâre not allowed to touch her. Sheâs a good girl, not someone you can mess around with. Stay out of trouble.â
Even though Chase was scared of getting hit by Ellinor, he pouted, a little unhappy, âEllinor, whatâre you implying? So, sheâs a good girl, and Iâm not a good guy?â
Ellinor watched this guy grow up. She knew him better than anyone!
Ellinor didnât have the energy to deal with Chase. She got up and left, âIâm off!â
Chase followed, âEllinor, wait up! My carâs parked on the other side. Letâs go together; Iâll give you a ride!â
Without looking back, Ellinor waved him off, âNo need, Iâll take a cab!â
Watching Ellinorâs retreating figure, Chase shrugged helplessly. Thatâs Ellinor, always low-key. She didnât even own a car!
Chase swiftly redirected his attention to his phone upon hearing two pings.
It was a picture from Belinda, four dishes and a soup, âBoss, your lunch!â
Chase casually sent a âhungryâ emoji back to her.
So, this girl was Theoâs relative? Howâd she end up in their company?
Chase put away his phone and stepped out from behind the truck, only to see Theo standing there with his hands in his pockets, staring at him expressionlessly.
Chase paused for a moment, then regained his composure. He smiled, âMr. Blanchet, are you here to check on our work?â
Ellinor wasnât far from the construction site when a black car pulled over next to her.
She turned to look. The carâs rear window slowly rolled down, and Patriciaâs innocent face appeared, beaming brightly at her. She seemed completely unbothered by the embarrassment of being exposed at the hospital a few days ago.
âEllinor, what a coincidence, running into you here!â
Ellinor nodded and said, âQuite a coincidence.â
Patricia asked with a sweet smile, âWhere are you headed, Ellinor? Can I give you a lift?â
Ellinor didnât want to deal with her, âThanks, but I donât need it.â
With that, Ellinor walked off, ignoring Patricia.
However, Patricia didnât give up. She instructed her driver to go slow, trailing behind Ellinor at a leisurely pace.
âEllinor, get in the car. Let me give you a ride! Iâve missed you so much these past few days!â
Doesnât Patricia feel nauseous spouting such nonsense?
Ellinor wasnât a fool, and there was no way she would believe Patriciaâs lies about missing her.
