Veronica dragged Ellinor out of the store to prevent her from talking to Bartlett any further.
Once outside, she quickly let go of Ellinor, grumbling. âYouâre such a tease!â
Ellinor didnât care and simply looked around, asking, âWhat are we eating?â
Veronica grew even more pissed off after seeing Ellinor act so indifferent.
âI saw it! Bartlettâs phone wallpaper is your photo! Ellinor, not only are you tempting my brother, but youâre leading Bartlett on too!â
Ellinor had not noticed the detail on Bartlettâs phone screen and was even surprised when she heard Veronica say this. How did Bartlett have her photo?
After thinking for a while, she remembered that Bartlett seemed to have saved her photo when he was taking photos for Belinda at Peart Moon last time.
Bartlett really had no sense of propriety!
Ellinor walked towards the restaurant while nonchalantly responding to Veronica, âEven if I say I didnât, you wonât believe me. Letâs stop talking about it and go eat; Iâm starving!â
Veronica could only angrily follow her, annoyed by her carefree attitude.
They sat down in the restaurant, and after ordering, the food arrived, but Veronica had no intention of eating.
She just sat across from Ellinor, arms crossed, glaring at her as if Ellinor owed her a lot of money.
Ellinor was eating on her own. She looked up at Veronicaâs creditor-like expression and asked, âWhy are you so angry? Me chatting with other guys gives you a chance to tell your brother how wicked I am, doesnât it?â
Veronica said discontentedly, âIâm afraid youâre going to do something behind my brotherâs back thatâs not right!â
Ellinor laughed, âIsnât that exactly what you want? Isnât that how you planned it before? Thatâs how you tried to get me kicked out of the Blanchet family so that your brother could find a woman that you approve of.â
Veronica was at a loss for words and utterly speechless.
Thinking about the time she plotted against Ellinor made her feel only shame. She really had been too much!
At that time, she didnât actually plan that. It was during a phone call with Patricia that she accidentally heard a piece of gossip and impulsively had that malicious thought.
Now that she thought about it, she really had gone too far. Luckily, Ellinor was smart and didnât fall into her trap.
For some reason, she seemed to feel it would be strange if her brother really did change his wife now.
âEllinor, I know you have no feelings for Bartlett, but you have to understand that youâre gorgeous and men want to be around you. Be careful in the future; donât let my brother down!â
Ellinor laughed, âAre you so worried that Iâll fail your brother?â
Veronica said awkwardly, âYouâve got my brother hooked on you, and thereâs no saving him now; what can I do? Anyway, I canât kick you out anymore.â
Ellinor chuckled and said, âYou better eat up! Youâre still struggling with basic math, and yet youâre worrying about adult problems.â Veronicaâs face turned red, and she said a bit defiantly, âHey! I am a year older than you!â
Ellinor continued to eat and replied, âAs long as you know that.â
Veronica fell silent.
âEllinor!â
Both of them were starving and started to focus on their food.
As Ellinor was eating, she heard a not-so-familiar voice calling her and for a moment, didnât realize who it was.
Who was it this time? Why did she run into someone she knew as soon as she went out?
She turned her head to see a tall, slim boy in a white T-shirt and jeans walking towards them.
