Veronica suddenly got curious and asked, âEllinor, you now have free rein over my brotherâs credit card. Why donât you spoil yourself a bit?â
Ellinor replied, âI donât need anything. Thereâs nothing I want to buy Veronica crinkled her brow and scomfully eyed Ellinorâs simple attire.
Sure, Ellinor was a stunner, and even basic clothes couldnât hide her beauty, but without designer labels, she just looked⦠ordinary Who said you donât need anything? I think you should chuck those clothes and get a whole new wardrobe! Ellinor, youâre part of the Blanchet family now, so you should step up your style game. You donât want to embarrass my brother, do you?
Ellinor looked at her with a subtle expression in her eyes.
Realizing what she had just said, Veronica awkwardly coughed and said, âDonât get me wrong! Iâm not admitting that youâre part of the Blanchet family, accepting you, or anything like that. Itâs just that my brother is head over heels for you and insists on keeping you around, so I thought you should up your fashion game. Iâm thinking about my brother! Heâs high and mighty, he canât have a woman by his side who looks like she shops at thrift stores!â
Ellinor smiled, âThanks for the advice, but your brother doesnât care what I wear, and Iâm not interested in those things. But donât worry, Iâll dress up for formal occasions to accompany him. Casual days, not so much.â
Veronica rolled her eyes, âI see you have bigger ambitions and donât even want to spend petty cash.
You just want to completely bewitch my brother, get all his money, and then control the Blanchet familyâs assets Ellinor smiled slightly, âIf what you say is true, then I must be very skilled. Ms. Blanchet, if youâre so capable, why donât you find a man whoâs willing to hand over all his assets to you?â
Veronica rolled her eyes again while crossing her arms, âIâm not as cu nning as you!â
They arrived at a large shopping mall and walked into the Hermès flagship store.
While Veronica excitedly picked out bags, Ellinor sat in the waiting area sipping coffee.
âEllinor.â
Before long, Ellinor heard someone call her name. It was a manâs gentle and warm voice.
She turned her head and saw Bartlett Rex walking over, arm in arm with an elegant girl.
Bartlett greeted her with a big grin, âI knew it was you, Ellinor! I thought I was seeing things when I first came in.â, âWell, what a coincidence.â Ellinor nodded without getting up, still cradling her coffee.
Bartlett softly told the girl next to him, âYou go take a look over there and pick a few you like. Iâm going to chat with a friend here.â
The girl seemed reluctant to leave. She gave Ellinor a wary look, nodded, and went on her way to check out the bags.
Once the girl was gone, Bartlett sat down on the sofa next to Ellinor.
âEllinor, are you here alone to buy a bag? Theo didnât come with you?â
Ellinor responded, âIâm not planning on buying anything. Iâm here with Veronica. Sheâs in there picking something out. Iâm just waiting for her.â
Bartlett squinted slightly. âYouâre really nice for taking Veronica bag shopping.â
Ellinor didnât bite at his sarcasm; instead, she asked, âIs that your girlfriend?â
Without hesitation, Bartlett said, âNo.â
Ellinor arched an eyebrow, âSheâs not your girlfriend, but you brought her shopping for bags? Oh, I see, for rich folks like you, buying a bag for a girl is no big deal.â Bartlett gave a helpless smile, âNo, sheâs not. Sheâs a blind date set up by my family. I was worried about it. Ellinor, since youâre here, can you do me a favor?â
âHmm? Do what for you?â
