Patricia had an epiphany, and she chuckled awkwardly. âNothing special, just reminiscing about that year.â
Ellinor smirked slightly, âReally? Do you remember what color Theo was wearing then?â
Patricia was stumped by the question. It was such a simple question that if she said she didnât remember, it would be so awkward.
Theo usually wore black or white clothes. So she decided to just pick one at random.
âUm maybe he was wearing blackâ¦â
After hearing this answer, Theo squinted slightly: his eyes were deep and inscrutable Ellinor continued to quiz Patricia, âMs. Howard, do you remember where Theo was bitten by a snake?â
Patricia was stumped again, she wasnât clear about the specific wound location, âUm⦠I think it was his arm.â
Ellinor continued to press. âLeft arm or right arm?â
Patricia was even more confused, she was getting a bit impatient, âEllinor, why do you always ask for details? It feels like youâre interrogating me Ellinor chuckled, âIâm just curious! Ms. Howard, you didnât forget such an important detail as whether you sucked the poison from Theoâs left arm or right arm, did you?â
Patricia frowned, Iâve already said, itâs been so long, I really canât rememberâ
Ellinor smirked slightly and asked again, âDo you remember anything else you did for Theo after sucking out the poison?â
Patricia seemed a bit annoyed, âWhat else could I have done? Ellinor, I was just a kid then, what could I have done?â
Ellinor frowned, âDidnât you bring him food? Just sucking out the poison wouldnât be enough; heâd still starve to deathâ
Patricia had an epiphany. She had thought Ellinor was jealous, suspecting her of having made intimate moves on Theo.
âUm.. of course I brought him food!â
âOh? What kind of food did you bring Theo?â
Patricia didnât dare to be too specific, she was afraid Theo would catch any inconsistencies.
*Just food from my house. I would save some every day to sneak to Theo.â
But Ellinor purposely asked in detail, âSuch as?â
Patricia couldnât dodge this question, âSuch as⦠milk, ham, and the like, I donât remember well.
Anyway, I would bring anything easy to carry to Theoâ
She thought the person who really saved Theo would have also brought this kind of food. What else could it have been? Certainly not gourmet meals every day However, Theoâs face had become very serious; his gaze at Patricia was filled with coldness and sternness. He no longer had any pity for his former savior.
Ellinor stopped questioning Patricia and turned to look at Theo. She raised her eyebrows slightly, she was all smiles as she said, âTheo, listen to how good Ms. Howard was to you back then In such a poor countryside, she even brought you milk and ham every day!â
Theo frowned deeply, he had already understood Ellinorâs intention Patricia not only lied today and not only fabricated an infertility condition, she herself was a lie; she had never saved him from the beginning!
