Ellinor knew this was Veronicaâs weakness from what Theo said this morning when he was barking at her.
Veronicaâs biggest soft spot was the thought of leaving the Blanchet familyâs home and going back to her momâs.
She wasnât sure why, but that was all the ammo she needed.
Veronica was on the verge of a meltdown and began shaking with rage. She pointed at Ellinor. âYouâ¦â
Ellinor was grinning like a Cheshire cat. âSo, are you gonna do it?â
Veronica hated housework like the plague, but she was scared to death of being kicked out by Ellinor because Theo was head over heels for her and would do anything she said.
Damn Ellinor, just you wait! There will be payback one day!
Veronica gritted her teeth and gave in. âFine, Iâll do it! Itâs just some housework, right?â
âGood, canât wait to see it!â Ellinor flashed a smile, then turned to the housekeeper, Devin. âIâm gonna head out after lunch. As you heard, Ms. Blanchet has kindly volunteered to handle all the house chores. If anyone dares to help her, theyâre basically giving up their job. I hope you can lead by example and keep an eye on her.â
Devin was taken aback by Ellinorâs assertiveness. âYes, maâam!â
Veronica was fuming and shooting daggers at Ellinor with her eyes.
But Ellinor didnât give a hoot. She strolled upstairs to change into her outfit for the outing.
After lunch, she checked the time and saw there was still a while before Theo would be off work.
It was boring to wait, and she couldnât go back to sleep.
So she went to the Crescent Society.

Ellinorâs arrival got Ida Gipson and Chase Larios all fired up.
Chase teased, âWhy so happy? Did you have a fun night?â, Ellinorâs cheeks flushed a little. She flipped through the papers in her hand and shot him a glance.
