âMajor thanks to Mr. Blanchet for playing along!â
Chase could read between the lines in Theoâs words, but he wasnât clued in on the specifics. He could only respond according to Theoâs drift.
Both men stopped talking, but the tension between them was as thick as the calm before a stormâ¦.
Thankfully, Ellinor appeared just in time, pulling her suitcase out of the bedroom, breaking the tension in the living room.
âTheo, Iâve packed my bags!â
Theo remained stone-faced, simply nodding and standing up from the couch, and walked over to her Chase also stood up, asking affectionately, âSweetheart, why are you lugging around a suitcase?
Where are you headed, and why didnât you give me a heads up?
Ellinor merely glanced at him, pulling a wry smile. âEnough with the âsweetheart, your act is starting to crack.â
âOuch, has he seen through me?â
Ellinor ignored Chaseâs reaction. She looked up at Theo, âTheo, we can leave now.â
To avoid any conflict between them, she needed to leave with Theo as soon as possible, lest he cause trouble with Chaseâ¦.
Theo glanced at the small suitcase in her hand, raising an eyebrow, âWhereâs the cat?â
The cat?
Ellinor was momentarily taken aback, but quickly caught on. She looked down at the cat obediently sitting next to Chaseâs feet.
âUm Letâs leave the cat. Itâs old and doesnât like to change the environment. Iâll come back to visit from time to time.â
Would she come back more often? Theo frowned slightly, but didnât say anything. He took the suitcase from her and wrapped his long arm around her, his large hand gently resting on her shoulder, âThen letâs go.â
Chase watched as Theoâs possessiveness over Ellinor was on full display, feeling a surge of pressureâ¦
Theoâs possessiveness was blatantly obvious!
By the time Theo and Ellinor had left, Chase was still trying to wrap his head around what had just happened.
Did Ellinor just leave with him?
Didnât Ellinor say she had severed all ties with that guy from the Blanchet family?
Suddenly, the door to another room opened, and Ida, looking as if she had just woken up, appeared.
Chase snapped back to reality, frowning, âIda, so you were home!â
Ida nodded, âI didnât go to the office today because I didnât sleep well.â
Chase complained, âWhy didnât you come out earlier? Theo took Ellinor away!â
Ida said, âI heard.â
âIda, do you think Ellinor willingly left with Theo?â
Ida flicked her medium-length curls, leaned against the door, and absentmindedly adjusted her glasses, âLess guessing about what Ellinor thinks. We wonât figure it out anywayâ
Chase thought for a moment, he felt that Ida was right.
âBut, how did Theo find out that my marriage with Ellinor was fake? Didnât Ellinor and I put on a good show of being in love?â
Ida looked at him disdainfully, âWith the way you act so wild and unrestrained, how could Theo not see through it?â
Chase realized he had given himself away and felt extremely embarrassed. He shrugged, âUh, my bad!
But I canât help it, I need to seek happiness every now and then!â
Ida looked at him with disdain again, âYou should take care of your health!â
The Blanchet villa.
All the way there, Ellinor quietly sat in the car, behaving herself.
Because she knew her any struggle would be futile.
