Theo Blanchet gave a nod to the folks upstairs, then proceeded to escort Ellinor up.
Ellinor, however, rooted herself to the spot, shaking her head. âMr. Blanchet, Iâd rather wait here for my wings; Iâll pass on the upstairs tour.â
Theo didnât force her, âAlright, then chill and enjoy your grub here; Iâll head up, take a look, and come back for youâ
Ellinor happily flashed an OK sign, taking a bite of the BBQ meat Theo handed her and enjoying it immensely Upon Theoâs entry into the villa, Jonah brought over a skewer of freshly grilled wings to Ellinor with a big grin on his face, âYouâre something else, Ellinor. Youâve managed to tame the tough nut, Theo!â
âYouâre a funny one! Youâre hosting your own birthday party, inviting a bunch of people over, and barbecuing for them all by yourself; arenât you beat?â Ellinor smiled.
Jonah paused and admiringly looked at Ellinor, âEllinor, everyoneâs just concerned about how good my BBQ is; only you care about whether Iâm having a hard time doing it! Iâm so touched!â
With that, he put down the barbecue and walked towards Ellinor to give her a hug!
Ellinor swiftly sidestepped Jonahâs overly enthusiastic embrace.
Jonah didnât feel awkward at all; in fact, he laughed even harder, âYouâre right! Theyâre all just stuffing their faces; none of them care about the birthday boy! Ellinor, youâre the best, help me keep an eye on the fire; donât let the wings burn; Lll be back after a quick restroom break!â
Ellinor fell silent.
Jonah was clearly trying to dump this task on her.
However, Ellinor still agreed; she didnât want to go in and chat with strangers anyway, so she walked over to the grill, flipped the wings, and brushed another layer of sauce on them.
She was thinking that if everyone was just interested in chatting and not eating the barbecue, then maybe all these wings would be hers.
She hoped they were all inside, fervently chatting away, and not coming out to snatch her wings.
âHey, Ellinor!â
Just as she was worrying about someone coming out to snatch her wings, someone showed up!
Ellinor lifted her head from the grill, and there was Byran Howard.
Byran had a stern face and a haughty demeanor.
This was the same expression he wore every time he saw her, as if she owed him money!
âOh, itâs you! Finished your homework already and came out to play?â
Byran always felt that Ellinor spoke to him like he was a kid and he frowned unhappily, âDone ages ago!â
âAlright, go have fun then.â Ellinor didnât pay any more attention to Byran and focused on grilling her favorite wings.
Byran didnât leave. He stood in front of the grill and watched Ellinor. He hesitated for a while, then finally said, âEllinor, about the last time, I want to apologize on behalf of Balfour. Heâs usually pretty decent, but whenever someone mentions Pearl Howard, he gets really tense.â
Ellinor took a bite of her wing, âOh, is that so?â
Byranâs expression became somewhat awkward, âEllinor, youâre not mad at me, are you?â
âHuh? Mad at you for what?â
