Involved in a crime?
Ellinor looked dazed and confused upon hearing this Seeing this. Theo asked, âWhat case are we talking about?â
The cops only noticed Theo in the room, looking slightly startled âOh? Mr. Blanchet, do you know Ellinor too?â
Theo answered thoughtfully. âYes, what happened to her?â
Standing beside Theo, Patricia looked at the police as if recalling a terrifying experience from last night.
She instinctively moved closer to Theo for protection with a worried expression on her face âOfficer, what crime is Ellinor suspected of? Are you sure you got it right? Ellinor is a good person!â
Seeing Patriciaâs reaction, the cop was even more surprised, âMs. Howard, youâre here too! Looks like you all know Ellinor?â
Considering the victim and her familyâs right to know, the cop spilled the beans.
âMr. Blanchel, hereâs the dealâ¦.
Weâve caught the guy who tried to assault Ms. Howard yesterday Under our tough questioning, the suspect finally came clean. He claimed Ellinor gave him ten grand to harm Ms. Howard, no matter whatâ
âWhatââ Patriciaâs thermos food jar dropped to the floor, hot soup splashing out and nearly scalding her footâ¦.
Theo reacted quickly pulling her away in time to avoid any burns.
Patricia was shocked, shaking her head in disbelief, âImpossible⦠Ellinor is my friend, she wouldnât hurt meâ¦.â
The cop, who had seen the dark side of human nature, sighed and said to Patricia, âMs. Howard, you canât judge a book by its cover. Be careful whom you befriend in the future.â
âHow could this be⦠Patricia seemed to have taken a heavy blow, her body swaying. She held Theoâs arm tightly, âHow could this happen? Ellinor is a good person, she wouldnât hurt me, right?â
Theo looked at Patricia, then turned to look at Ellinor.
Ellinor sat on the hospital bed, her expression calm, her eyes laced with ironyâ¦
Well, here we go again!
She knew this wouldnât be the end of it.
They say thereâs no peace in a wealthy family, always full of intrigue and backstabbing. Those words sure rang true.
Theoâs eyes lingered on Ellinor for a moment before he turned to the police, âYou better have evidence to prove sheâs guilty, or you canât take her from the hospital.â
The cop was taken aback, unsure whose side Mr. Blanchet was onâ¦.
Wasnât he Ms. Howardâs boyfriend?
Why did he seem to defend Ellinor, who was suspected of hiring a thug to harm his girlfriend?
âWe have evidence, both witnesses and physical evidence! Mr. Blanchet, we are legally summoning the suspect; please donât interfere with our work.â
The police was clearly very confident of the final outcome. They were just going through the procedural motions before formally charging the suspect.
âYou have both witnesses and physical evidence⦠Patricia took a deep breath, looking heartbrokenly at Ellinor on the bed. Her big, innocent and deerâlike eyes were red and teary, making her look even more pitiful.
